  1. Perfect! Will send this to Shannon “I know everything” Phillips, Alberta’s enviro minister.
And Holland is upping its coal power production.
The Dippers here just do not understand reality.
    CAS

  2. Clearly the Alberta NDP youngsters, hipsters, baristas, teachers, nurses, union rabble and career politicians are a whole lot smarter than those stupid Germans…..

  3. Don’t forget who comprise Red Rachel’s government. How many of its members are actually scientists or engineers, let alone any who have actual experience in power generation?
Ah, but the singing of “Kumbaya”, believing in unicorns and fairy dust, and adhering to a failed political ideology will always trump hard science, technology, and economics, right?

  4. Of course es ist ein plot by the former Chancellor Helmut “Kohle”…
    🙂
Re-Merkel-ble that they come up with a sensible policy; notwithstanding the considerable heat they are experiencing with George Soros’s hackneyed immigration policy.
Evidently they will have to stoke up some fires to make it through the winter reliably. The snow storms may turn the odd windmill, but that won’t mitigate the frosty reception to Brexit.
When they heat up the foundries and hammer out the steel, it turns into Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and Volkwagen; jobs Germany can ill afford to lose.
    I see a trading community warming up…

  5. That’s what happens when you shut down your nukes because of a tidal wave in Japan. And I recall reading in the past that the Germans mainly burn lignite ‘brown coal’—the “dirtiest” type. But it’s not anti-environmental if the Euros do it I suppose.

  6. More evidence of the inconvenient truth, that to generate electricity some fuel must be consumed. That reality is slowly taking hold, though billions of dollars could have been saved had people considered this before hand. Outside of NDP’s Leap fringe, and Wynne-tario, no one else believes any longer in renewable fantasies.
Still Ont is poised to further hobble the province with carbon punishment taxes before Wynne’s era winds down.

  7. I guess Germany doesn’t want to HAVE to buy basic energy from a newly liberated Britain. It’s bad-enough they have to purchase so much from France’s nuclear plants …
The BREXIT does have consequences ! All + for Britain !

  8. So after spending an absolute fortune on “green energy” only to again prove it is a total failure in practice as well as theory, Europe is abandoning it. Why are we still drinking the Kool-Aid?
When you build a system that is 10 % effective, you still need 100 % backup unless you really want to shut down the economy when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine. All the costs spent on solar and wind power is wasted.

  9. To be most unkind (I know I know Ms. McMillan is grievously overworked; but better me than a snarky leftist) it is Schaden.

  10. It’s hardly “wasted” … the top ownership of Solyndra built lavish mansions and swimming pools for themselves with the $ 500 M stolen from the taxpayers. There were far more “green jobs” created for digging new swimming pools than ever went into solar panels

  11. Why are we still drinking the Kool-Aid?
Canadians are a little slow. After 7 years of media-induced Obama-envy they decided to go for a home grown version in the Spawn, complete with the architect of Ontario’s energy theocracy. Perhaps when Canada more resembles Venezuela, we can “discover” reality too and the electorate can grudgingly allow slightly more rational individuals to steer the Canadian collective of human ballast.

  12. the “reformation” gotta start in Alberta with booting the eeN-Dee-Pee as sooon as possible.
    convert coal plants to gas-fired.
promote business with lower capital tax.
get all government spending under control like Health, agencies, boards, education, civil service.
stop spending big $ for attracting “The Best” talent. It attracts the greedy.

  13. Just because it was a great vacation on the taxpayers dime was no reason to throw the economy into the garbage can in the name of junk science.

  14. to generate electricity some fuel must be consumed.
What fuel does a hydroelectric dam consume?

  15. coal, because it is needed to smelt the metal used to build the turbines.

  16. Gravity and monsoons.
Don’t you know Hydro Dams are evil,In the Cult Of calamitous Climate?
These nasty water trapping structures will slow the rotation of the earth, causing even longer work days, prevent fish from farting where they will and have already destabilized the rotation of the earth about its axis
Why just one more massive water reseviour will tip us off our axis and cause the earth to crash into Uranus..
Protect our precious bodily fluids.. Ban DiHydrogen Monoxide.

  17. Are you daft !? … metals are all smelted in China ! With no use of coal or any other harmful materials … with -0- environmental impact. The air is perfectly clear in Germany !

  18. You seem to have missed the point again, or maybe you’re just trying to be silly.
