  1. Yes, there’s quite a lot of pearl-clutching in that article until you realize that it all reduces to “if you’re using an unsecured wifi connection, people can see what you’re doing”. That’s really not news.
Now, if someone could explain effectively in layman’s terms that it’s only a little bit hard to see what everyone else on the same WPA2-PSK secured network as you is doing, even though it’s a “secure” network, that would be a little more newsworthy.

  2. fascinating tech application, important security visualization for the untech masses, moogfest seems to have lots of interesting stuff. absolutely no need for them to have made it all about the d*ck (or d*ckless, or addad*cktome, or whatever). but of course, that is exactly what they did.

  3. I think if you knew how much information your phone gives away just by being turned on, you’d plotz.
Which proves the makers of the phones are either complicit, or negligent.

  4. Well i have several friends down here that use raspberry pi and kody to stream their tv …all it costs them is their internet connection and about 60$ for the raspberry pi interface..it is catching on like crazy.
Think of netflix, hulu, crakle, amazonfire stick, all ofthose except nomonthly fee and all the same content and more. live streaming of sports games, all of it.

  5. Not just Wi-Fi, but Bluetooth too. Bluetooth is a short range radio link between devices such as keyboards, earphones, cellphones, and automotive electronics.
The City of Calgary has a system that listens to Bluetooth probes as you drive by different points on a roadway and uses that information to give you estimated drive times to various locations.

  6. It’s the latter. Hanlon’s Razor. I work in this industry. Phone manufacturers don’t care because the users don’t; the fact that BYOD is even a thing in any large enterprise is proof no one actually cares about security.
