  1. There is a rather simple solution to this problem, and it does not involve ensuring publication of minutes of meetings. Rather, it simply is to strip the CBC of its subsidy, release it from the obligation to put its signal across the country, and sell it to the highest bidder. They have some rather expensive cameras, so it should get a bid.

  2. Um, with a compliant LIEberal government, there is NO chance that the CBC will suffer in any way, shape or form. It will be a holiday at Mother Corpse for at least 3 more years, as they are flush with OPM, to take selfies, and write all the propaganda for His Hairness that the LIVs can handle.
There is no accountability at the Corpse, and contrary to His Lispness, no Openness from gubermint.
Let’s remember, PMSH had a choice to slay the Ceeb. Instead, he put CINO James Moore in charge, and he defended the Corpse every day!

  3. Justin has given CBC an extra 675 million taxpayerbucks spread over the next 5 years. I can’t blame him, anyone would give a little extra to his Fan Club.
Harper,in another of his many timid moments, did NOT sell off CBC as he should have, guess he didn’t want to offend liberals all over Canada and lose the next election.
He should have put Moore in veterans Affairs, and Fantino in charge of CBC, might have worked out for the better.

  4. Yeah Dan, I harber no illusions about the prospect for any fix to the CBC under Trudeau’s reign, but one can still dream.

  5. I’m so happy to see that Trudeau is exercising transparency. Thanks Justin!

  6. Of course the problem is with Conservative appointed board members. I can’t fathom any reason that who appointed a board member is of importance. Nobody takes on an appointment determined to do a bad job. I’m mean, really, how Conservative are the Conservative appointees to the Supreme Court?

  7. Well, $675 million is a lot less than a Lib government would likely have ponyed up so that the CBC could hang onto Hockey Night in Canada.
IMO, not privatizing or shutting down the CBC was not a “mistake” by PMSH. It was a question of priorities. The radioisotopes fiasco, early in the first term showed that the CPC Government had a thousand or more swamps to drain and that they couldn’t get to them all.
Mr. Dion, if you remember, spoke of the trouble with setting priorities. Mr. Harper had no such trouble. The CBC was little more than a mosquito bite, he knew what to expect from them and he dealt with them fairly effectively, I’d say, by simply ignoring them. There were many more pressing priorities. The one time he did weigh in, the CBC and other parts of the MSM went ballistic in Quebec especially, which might have cost the CPC a majority in 2008.
If there was a political mistake it was not being prepared or responding to the entire MSM going all in to campaign against the CPC during the last election.
