  3. The claim is they are running on the same budget as the Harpers . I am doubtful ,can anyone verify this ? I am wondering why you need nannies and staff on a family vacation . I am pretty sure according to Fife and Mansbrige hiring more staff is just part off the Liberal plan to provide more employment opportunities. So how come one of the nannies isn’t male ? Gender equality and all. Sunny ways friends , sunny ways !

  7. Years ago my late father-in-law listened to one of his nieces complaining about the difficult time she was having raising two kids – on a household income of close to $150,000.00 from two government jobs: 8 hour days with weekends off and generous holidays.
    “Hey, Evelyn…how did you manage…with five kids and fifty cows?”

  12. Canada is a constitutional monarchy structured on the Westminster parliamentary model. Therefore, despite all the hype, this woman is no “First Lady” simply because there is no basis for any such concept in our country.
    The best contemporary model for our PM’s wife is not therefore Michelle Obama; it is the British PM’s wife Samantha Cameron. She is by no means unappealing to the eye, is a mother of four, is quietly active in various charitable causes and is visible with her husband in a dignified and outgoing manner when and as state circumstances permit. But she is not ubiquitous; the Cameron the British public voted for was David, not Samantha.
    And so, most importantly, it is always abundantly clear that her husband – and her husband alone – is the only member of HM Government in the Cameron household.

  15. This sort of stunt is no doubt something she learned at her meetings with Michelle-O. No other ‘first lady’ ever took living-large-on-the-taxpayer’s-dime to such extremes. Sophie probably thinks she is the ‘first lady’ of Canada, and that she’s entitled to entitlements.

  25. Was watching Government T.V. this morning and was surprised to see #prayforsophie got a mention, then flipped it over to Government T.V. Wanna Be, and they too were mentioning the outrage and the #prayforsophie. Good job Canadians.

  26. The results are in, and even at CBC comments are running 3/1 against Sophie; about the only positive support is from Hedy Fry.
    What this demonstrates is an astonishing lack of awareness of difficulties facing ordinary middle class Canadians so idolized by her husband. To be blunt, neither Trudeau has the slightest clue about middle class people. Also evident is a shocking show of poor timing on her part; other issues in Canada warrant slightly more attention, than this woman’s complaints.

  27. We all know that anyone with an ounce of common sense would strongly disagree with Sophie on this one. Be prepared for much, much more of this type of behaviour in the future. On October 19, Canadians tossed out a common man of the people and replaced him with an aristocrat accompanied by an aristocratic wife. She will receive the assistance she apparently requires and the taxpayer will foot the bill. Similar absurdities will pop up as Trudeau’s reign continues and the media will dutifully run interference. I hope we can all get used to it because it’s inevitable.

  28. I agree that raising kids and running a household is work. However, this woman has two full-time nannies, plus a chef, plus housekeepers and other staff, so since she doesn’t have a job, just what does she consider her work?
