Yup.
This is what I was looking for when I checked here;
What is the one best thing he can do to separate himself from the Republican machine and show that he can be a deal-maker for everyone? Answer: Punch FOX News in the mouth. Right in front of you.
Democrats are watching. Trump is framing himself as an enemy of their enemy. (Democrats hate FOX News.)
That’s what I was thinking. Forget what Republicans are saying. Millions of Democrats just sat up and cheered for Donald Trump.
(I haven’t linked to the Dilbert blog more than once or twice, but I’ve been reading it every day.)
OH. And if I may add: these talking heads asking “is he going to walk out on Putin?” as though it’s a rhetorical question?
YES, you MORONS. That’s what the art of the deal is based on. The ultimate leverage is knowing that your opponent knows that you can walk away from the table and give him nothing.
If you can’t fold your cards, if you’re not prepared to walk away, you’re not a deal maker.
You’re a hostage.
You know what just happened?
Trump just fired the air traffic controllers of the Republican party.
It seems the GOP establishment hates Trump so much they are willing to do anything to defeat him,and hand the Presidency over to Hillary Clinton.
Run Jeb Bush against Hillary, the GOP old guard would love that!
Real F***ing patriots.
Cruz has offered to debate Trump one on one for 90 minutes.. I doubt Trump
would take the chance of being knocked down a few pegs., but I think they
could charge admission for that debate.
Excellent (Reagan!) analogy with the air traffic controllers, Kate. Brava!
Nailed it, Kate.
Trump is running third party under the GOP banner.
Genius. And just what is needed in the post Obamamerica…
The money quote:
“Admit it – you already think the competition on the Republican side has narrowed to Trump versus Trump.”
What do you really get with Trump? That question should be top of mind for primary voters. Cruz is a better choice. He cares about the constitution. Look what happened in Canada when we elected faux-cons who don’t really care about our civil liberties. Maybe I am saying this in the wrong place. But it’s still true.
I agree folks, Kate nailed it…with a power nailer. And the Reagan comment was pure icing on the cake!
Trump has never forgiven Megyn Kelly for her petty question in the earlier debate.
It is an absolutely brilliant move on his part. Masterfully played.
Don’t mistake my fascination with what he’s doing with support for him as President. Right now, he’s turning the world dominated by canned talking points and politically correct overseers upside down, and for that alone, he deserves gratitude.
This will cost trump Iowa.
The GOP is a party. It is a team. GOP members will tolerate differing views but not someone who puts themselves over the party. This is particularly so in a caucus primary like Iowa.
Very dumb move. He’s running away from the first debate where he likely would be asked about things like abortion and eminent domain.
After every fire the forest grows.
It’s actually more than that. He could win.
I’m glad to hear that someone besides me it reading Adams these days.
There is a lot about his Philosophy I don’t like, but he’s doing a bang up job of explaining how things are going. Its something I wish we would see up here. Maybe not Trump of the North, but the same master persuasion approach.
On the Mark Levin Show tonight, Mark’s offering to host this on his show, without any real moderation except for advertising breaks.
We’ll see…
I like that Trump is stirring things up, but also think that Cruz or Rubio would be better Presidents.
“MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA — Ted Cruz criticized Donald Trump’s withdrawal from Thursday night’s presidential debate and challenged the businessman to debate one-on-one in the coming days.
“Give the Republican primary voters the right to see a fair and policy-focused debate, not simply insults,” Cruz said on the Mark Levin radio show Tuesday night.
He proposed a 90-minute debate to happen before the Iowa caucuses on Monday.”
“At the end of the segment, the host also opened the proposed debate to the rest of the field. “Well that’s two presidential candidates,” he said. “Anybody else listening? You can come in too.”
(the above quote from Politico is about 75% of the article, there’s only a bit more to read… !
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/01/ted-cruz-donald-trump-218266
Yes Cruz is a better choice, but unless it looks likely they can get enough people to make that choice, Trump is a better choice than letting the Democrats carry on as things are.
Great – Trump attracts a bunch of democrats – wins the nomination and then governs like the liberal democrat he has always been. How does that further the Conservative agenda?
Trump is in it for Trump. Any Conservative who votes for him is a complete f’ning idiot.
The Achilles’ heel of every CEO is EGO…Roger Ailes gambled the future of the FOX network that Donald would bow down to the media…..He was wrong.. the MSM has Zero credibility.. Resume time for FOX
1. The crowd may boo the FOX debate & Meagan Kelly.. not good for Roger, or ALL Republicans
2. Cruz actually suggested the Solution for both him & Donald.. a one-on-one debate at the same time as the FOX debate. Each could chose one moderator.. Donald could have a legal scholar ask Cruz where he was born and what his passport has listed as the country of birth (this issue MUST be resolved) The thriller in Iowa… CNN could draw 30+ million…
Trump just fired the air traffic controllers of the Republican party…. Ha.
Good one Kate.
But now who/whom do they spend their fortunes on, Bernie, Hillary??
Everything is lost if they continue to back Bush, Rubio, Christie…. etc..
Cruz is the only other candidate they can support, but they despise him..
Decisions, Decisions…
This Has to be the Best Presidential race in my lifetime..
And am enjoying every minute watching the elite RINOS and Democrats squirm…
Cruz or Rubin would be much better presidents, in a functional government. I doubt the media, Democrats and Establishment Republicans would allow either of them to be effective. An example is the Democrats running Cruz’s climate committee where Steyn and Curry were sidelined — just because the Republican committee members didn’t like Cruz.
Freedomain Radio podcast #3187:
National Review Against Donald Trump – Rebutted!

It was also idiotic for fox to send out that moronic insulting press release mocking trump. It was uncalled for, and I am pretty sure they haven’t done the same for any other candidate thus year or in years past.
Cruz is a better choice. He cares about the constitution.
If he did, he wouldn’t be running for Pres…he’s a natural born Canadian. He was made a citizen of the US by statute. Which, of course, doesn’t override the Constitution.
Congratulations!
You have accomplished just want Donald Trump wanted. The IA caucuses are on 2/1 and everyone’s talking about Trump and Fox News. Great for ratings, not so great if you want to hear about candidates and issues. This truly is a WWE Reality Show.
I don’t like it, I think it is bad for the country. (And I am a Trump fan!)
For the next two news cycles Trump is the lead. With a week to go to the caucuses that is where the front runner wants to be.
If he did the debate, inevitably, another candidate would have emerged as “The Trump Stopper” and one or two moderators would put their oar in. Now, no worries.
With the added bonus of sticking it to Fox which is getting a bit uppity.
This is how to win a debate without showing up.
America deserves Trump for POTUS. The people who will elect Trump buy beer, booze, smokes and lotto tickets, coffee [not lattes], don’t own i-phones or computers and shop at Walmart. They don’t show on polls, because the pollsters don’t ask THEM.
“It was also idiotic for fox to send out that moronic insulting press release mocking trump. It was uncalled for, and I am pretty sure they haven’t done the same for any other candidate thus year or in years past.” SCF
Roger Ailes has always avoided Freak Shows (he left MSNBC), but why he insisted that Meagan Kelly be involved is pure freakish… He wanted to push Kelly up Trumps rear & get a Freak show… The August debate should have been last time they faced off, any reasonable person would have avoided a repeat…
This really smells of Murdock, he has no decency or smarts.. Ailes will be gone sooner than expected.
What kind of a journalist poses on the cover of Vanity Fair? I thought Trump had gone too far against Kelly and Fox news until I heard they are going to have a Muslim in retaliation on their show. Go Trump, go!
I have no idea what Trump’s political philosophy is, but he is a big finger to the establishment, and Americans like that. I expect he would be familiar with the role of chief executive.
Peter, I am rather curious as to what civil liberties we lost under the conservatives?
This is frankly all we have been asking for in the post-Reagan era. A non-Democrat with a pair who is willing to push back against the media (which is just an arm of the DNC). Bush 41 didn’t. Dole didn’t. Bush 43 didn’t. McCain didn’t. And Romney didn’t. Practically 3 decades worth of spineless squishes.
Curious as to what civil liberties we lost under the conservatives?
–
Also curious?
Bush gave us The Patriot Act, but that could have been removed by executive ordered from Obama.
Demorats chose not too?
Wonder Why?
Oh Yes, the IRS.. I forgot..
Billions of iPhone numbers stored in Utah.
Big freaking deal, China, Russia, Norks, have that many on three computers…
J\y, you sound like a liberal – let the people keep their money and they will just spend it on beer and popcorn.
Let the people vote for who they like, and they will elect Trump.
Trump doesn’t need the fox news debate..
If he lost 10 poll points, He could still win..
Now that he has told Fox news, Megan Kelly, Murdoch, to kiss his ass,
I still admire him,
Heck, even Cruz wants him to have a private 90 minute debate..
I don’t like the son of a bitch, But I still admire him… Richard Nixon..
Cruz would be a good president, and he Has Quit wearing those freaking checkered shirts.
SDA ! Gets Results..
Sorry old white guy.. Conservatives..
Sometimes I read Canadian politics and get it confused with US politics..
Excuse me..
Cruz’s wife works for Goldman Sachs. You don’t think Cruz is going to upset any Wall St. apple carts do you?
Trump has the money and the prestige to say “F.U.” to the donors with strings attached, to the GOPe which is truly RINO, and to Fox. Cruz is a lap dog.
It wasn’t a petty question, it’s a question that will be asked of him if he is the nominee in a thousand different ways on a daily basis if he is going up against the unindicted felon that will likely be the democrat nominee. He should have been thankful that someone got it out front so he and his advisors could prepare.
there are many things the democrats could have done, but let’s face it they are as socialist as Canada’s liberals.
On paper, Mitt Romney was a great president and a shoo-in to win. In the real world, he didn’t. I don’t care about how good Cruz looks on paper, or about who is more conservative. Political ideology is secondary to me right now. There are a lot of bad things that need to be undone. Politicians are terrible at reversing mistakes. Businessmen need to do it all the time.
If asked about the war on women as the nominee, Trump can just suggest:
Ask these women and parade out:
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/12/31/rap-sheet-the-women-who-claim-to-be-victims-of-bill-and-hillary-clinton/
I’m sure most of us would take Cruz for President, if we could see him getting elected AND see him being able to bring the Republican establishment to heel. I don’t see the latter happening, even with the bully pulpit of the Presidency.
The qualifications for Republican president right now are: 1) can they defeat the media? 2) can they defeat the establishment? Without both of these, nothing changes. A Republican might get elected President, but the media and the establishment would destroy him in the first term.
Trump has both. He wins.
As for the risk that Trump would govern as a statist, I understand that fear. It’s a real concern given his past. However there is a CHANCE that he would do what he promises- and if he does, I would not bet against him succeeding. The other Rep candidates and the establishment they come with have demonstrated that there is NO chance that they will do as they promise. Even if they tried, they have demonstrated that they would fail.
Trump for president is a perfectly logical choice given the information US voters have. Barring assassination, Trump will be President.
.
As they say too often in Britain, but not often enough about the boss of this site. “BRILLIANT”
.
Barring assassination, Trump will be President.

Two of my appointments canceled,
guess they saw Al Gores death threats/end of the known world..
Anyway.. BC Monkey, good comment.
Every President, except Barrack Hussian Obama,
Mentions the ‘Awesome Responsibility’ it puts on his and his family’s shoulders.
It humbles them to be part of the history of President of the United States of America..
Obama is either so doped up, transfigured by his teleprompter,
stupid, or proud of his Noble Peace Prize,
that he, him, himself, I , me, mine, us, etc. etc. Narcissistic bastard has never realized it.
But Assassination is a concern, but The Donald is surrounded by guns that liberals don’t believe in..
But…
The Clinton Machine has produced a lot of dead bodies..
http://whatreallyhappened.com/RANCHO/POLITICS/BODIES.php#axzz3ySJ6wdEl
Maybe if the Donald wins he will be humbled,
hard to believe??
I think this move by Trump is brilliant as usual. He is demonstrating he has the courage to stand up to big media in the US . I am sure Fox is in panic mode at the moment because he is not going to be there. I am sure their ratings are going to take a big hit for 2 reasons. Some will not watch in solidarity with Trump and others will not watch because they think it will be boring without him. Either way Fox loses . Trump is so far ahead at this point this debate is irrelevant . I am a Megyn Kelly fan but I feel that her war on Trump makes her look petty. She seems to go out of her way to have guests on that are anti Trump. This makes her look petty. I am sure she has lost viewers because of this stance she has adopted.
Fox is definitely the most conservative voice in the North American market but they still think they have an element of control over the candidates. I guess he is going to show them.
The gags have already started,
Someone on Glen Beck mentioned:
Fox News,
‘Who wants to watch two Cubans debating each other?’
–
I didn’t say that-
because it does sounds kinda racists..
sound. sound..
preview is my friend, preview is my friend, preview is my friend,
Don’t be a pansy and speak you mind without fear … or you will perish … If It’s two Cuban debating then that’s what it is … why feel bad about stating it … you see that is the problem … they win when YOU are ashamed or afraid to speak freely.
Make Canada Great Again … speak up ….
Damn, I did it again.
its these meds..
DAMN. DAMN. DAMN.
Very good comment re Trump and Fox news. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend?”
I think people like Trump because we are again at an existential crossroads in the West. Either we fight or we wither and die from 6 billion people throughout the world slavering at the prospects of picking over our corpse. If we keep quiet for fear of being branded (racist, sexist, homophone, etc…) we die. I think we’re getting to the point where its that simple. Going into battle, would you rather be led by Trump or Cruz? That’s it, end of story, Trump is the next President, may got have mercy on our souls!
Rand Paul is taking his place so maybe there can finally be a debate with more policy and less narcissism.
