  9. Gormley’s offense is that he apologized and bent to the wishes of the PC crowd.
    I am sometimes tempted to take my doodles and scrap work, put them in a collection and see if I can get money out of the artsy fartsy council. I’m tired of playing the good guy. Canadians keep on electing village idiots (I live in Ontario too), so why fight it. I’m getting too old for this crap.

  10. So John Gormley tweets ‘Next guy in a Western democracy who chants “Allah Ahkbar” we shoot’ and is deemed so offensive that he should be punished with banishment from participation on an arts board.
    Islam’s war cry to slay the infidel has been heard in past murderous situations here in the West and the Islamist terrorists involved are going to be shot anyway because they likey won’t be surrendering.
    John is guilty of redundancy but I fail to see how that is offensive.

  11. Most certainly, ISIS is inclusive in that they will cut off the heads of males of any race or creed that opposes them and make their women into concubines.
    Based on the piece of “art” shown above the term artist is a misnomer. Bunch of welfare bums to boot. In the past, we have walked out of the Mendel Art Gallery if there was too much junk on the walls.
    Gormley was right the first time.

    We need a worldwide Mohammed drawing contest!
    There is really no down-side here because we are already all marked by Islam for conversion or extermination anyways. But, think of the lives it would save. Muslims would be so friggin’ busy carrying out individual fatwas they would have no cowards remaining available for jihad.
    Of course, the west should also have a VERY PUBLIC POLICY of burying or cremating the remains of terrorists with pig guts. Imams wield faith as a powerful and murderous weapon, we do nothing to counter it.
    That one seems like a no-brainer to me, but PC’ness seems to have taken over the right as well as the left on this topic.

    And yet literally no more than earlier in the day, we have this post. Personal tweet, arguably less offensive than Gormley’s, yet in the comments, we find offended SDAers calling for him to be fired.

Don’t feel as if I despise this parasite because he doesn’t like Mr. Harper, I personally despise them all, inclusively….. Free CBC!!!!!!

    I could care less what some CBC lemming “tweets”. I want the CBC gone. A billion dollars a year would buy a lot of MRI scanners and pay for more nurses, doctors and hospitals.
    The CBC is unecessary, not needed and a complete and utter waste of tax dollars in this day and age.

I would love, just once, to hear/read a progressive’s explanation on why it’s just fine to get all “speak truth to power shock the bourgeoise promote dialogue be provocative and brave” on images and practices that are sacred to Christians, but not fine to do so on things sacred to Muslims. Just once. I’m sure the explanation will involve all sorts of nonsense about the “dominant oppressive culture” and “Christian privilege” but the real reason will be completely avoided: Christians won’t kill you for blaspheming, but Muslims … well …. These so-called “artists” are cowards and hypocrites, and I wish not a single, repugnant one of them was funded by our tax-dollars. Go be all “freedom-of-expression”-y on your own dime, you talentless poseurs.
    And one final thing: have you cultural elites ever thought about the dangerous incentive and precedent you are setting and showing to otherwise placid, resigned, turn-the-other-cheek Christians who make such soft, easy targets for your “brave” art? You are proving to them that belligerent fatwas, threats and a stabbing or a beheading or two gains your respect and your cowardly obedience. Quite the lesson you’re teaching …

    Gormley apologized twice, Penner ran and hid like the coward he is.
    Finally, all leftist foot-soldiers should try this simple but effective freedom test…
    First, draw a nice and flattering picture of Mohamed and put it on your front step. Now. put a crucifix in a jar full of rancid piss and put it alongside it. Next, wait and see which group comes to kill you.

    The content of the respective tweets is entirely irrelevant to the point of this post, which is about “the right to free expression” and the apparent hypocrisy of the “welfare art community” in demanding it for themselves while allegedly denying it to Gormley. Well, that argument cuts both ways. Either everyone has the right to free expression without consequence — Gormley, Stimson, and Penner alike — or nobody does.
    On the other hand, since you thought Penner “should have been fired back in August when he outed himself as the hateful scumbag that he is”, then do explain why you suddenly think Stimson’s similar demand that Gormley be removed from the gallery board due to his offensive words is now beyond the pale?
