Spain, Denmark, UK, Germany, Ontario among many jurisdictions suffering from their headlong rush based on FALSE SCIENCE while political “friends” reap 25 yr contracts @ 5-10 times what Nat Gas/coal derived energy costs.
At the same time we have lost millions of acres of arable land, destroyed small towns and picturesque vistas world wide in the mad pursuit of reducing so called green house gases. Now we even see CO2 considered a pollutant by many amidst the continual Alarmism and it all simply blows my mind.

It was completely predictable that an aggressive renewable energy policy would result in high energy prices and an undependable electrical grid, and that governments would have to either return to sanity or get turfed out of office.
The problem started when the first wave of green hysteria shut down plans to significantly increase nuclear power production over 40 years ago. In those days you could tell how one voted by their stance on nuclear power. Nothing has changed. When the mindless can vote-in their intellectual equivalents into roles generally requiring a modicum of technical and numeracy skills, particularly with intrusive state participation, this is the result.

If she really wants to “decarbonize” and also ensure that seniors (and everyone else) have a secure supply of affordable energy, there is only one rational choice: build a large new fleet of nuclear generating stations, and maintain and upgrade the existing coal-fired fleet until the new nuke plants on line have made them redundant.
No amount of wind and solar, at any price can provide reliable base load power.
