  1. I can’t poll, American citizen.
But 26 of our American governors, including mine, are refusing to Obey The Virgin King Obamas command.
We already have 30 million illegals living here now I guess he figures a few more million wont matter..

  2. As a resident of Saskatchewan I have to say that this reasoned, logical approach of Premier Wall will ensure he is elected again this coming April.

  3. The Dauphin and PM Gerald Butts just can’t resist 25,000 new Liberal voters. However, when things start going sideways (and they will) they’ll both have to have their big-boy pull ups on.

  4. Funny not enough resources for our homeless, elderly and veterans but somehow we are able to mobilize government and funds to vet 25,000 people before December 25th, 2015. Even if .5% are ISIS infiltrators and they somehow manage to kill even one innocent that will be on the head of the shiny pony and his misguided policy. Will he take that responsibility?
What an imbecile our PM Zoolander is.

  5. Still out in the field tilling with this nice weather and put on CBC last night to hear their take on these migrants and the bombings in Paris. Caught “As it happens” at 6:30, and that bitch Carol Off did everything she could to portray Premier Wall as some kind of redneck that wants to STOP Syrian immigration period!
The tape they played of him made NO MENTION “about slowing down the process” “taking proper time to get the security checks right” “we can take the 25,000, it just might take a little longer”
She made everyone listening, think that he wants the process STOPPED period. The bitch and the program should have to offer an apology or else Wall should sue those bastards.

  6. A few comments. First, I think immigration is a net good when the immigration policy is sensible and based on skills and ability to integrate. Admitting refugees is a positive humanitarian gesture when, like immigration, the policy is sensible in regards to security risks and numbers. Despite what you hear, you can be pro-immigrant/pro-refugee and also still think we need to maximize benefits/minimize risk. This is not being racist. It’s not a yes/no question….this is where progressives appeal to understanding complexity and “nuance” should apply.
Besides the abondonment of nuance when considering refugee admittance, I’ve noticed that progressives have also ditched the Precautionary Principle. Apparently the PP is only played when it favors them. Imagine that.
Another argument is that since the Paris terrorists were mostly European born and raised, home grown, we shouldn’t worry about the middle eastern refugees. Maybe it’s just me but the fact that the terrorists were 2nd generation is neither a convincing nor comforting argument. That means a greater possibility of problems of radicalization and terrorism starting in 20 or so years.
Then there’s the progressives whose angry, rude responses are mainly driven by hatred of the messenger than the message. The reflexive instinct towards tribalism by both sides is irritating.
The final argument, the only one based on numbers, is that the risk of getting killed by terrorism or refugees is much, much smaller than everyday risks. Ok, fine, but be consistent – if your threshold for caution and regulation is the risk of getting killed in a car accident then everything *EVERYTHING* with a lower risk should be allowed the same objection. Does anyone think that’s what progressives really believe?

  7. The U.S. has indicated that they are having huge problems vetting Syrian refugees. There are no government records they can access, they cannot verify criminal records, citizenship , birthplace etc. They are saying they cannot even verify peoples correct names. In effect they are simply asking them interview questions. They have admitted they cannot properly vet the refugees. If that is the case, then how is Canada vetting them?
this is a recipe for disaster.

  8. Please Saskatchewan, can you sacrifice your Premier, and encourage him to run for leadership of the Conservatives? Canada needs him!

  9. I hear there are vacancies at 24 Sussex Drive that could house a whole bunch of ‘refugees’. Enough land for a self sustaining vegetable garden and some goats as well. Beyond that, April through September most of the dorm rooms at the colleges and universities in Canada sit empty. We could hire the profs from the multiculturalism department to do janitorial duty. Beyond that, seeing we are all into equality now, how many will be moved into Rosedale area of Toronto and self similar wealthy enclaves? We all know that answer….

  10. To rephrase this discussion, one only has to suggest a parallel situation to see how our pathetic PM would react. Rather than calling them refugees which are certain to contain terrorist elements, the matter takes on a different hue if it were framed as refugees which are certain to contain people carrying ebola, most of who are not currently showing symptoms.

  11. Ujjal Dosanjh(now with shoulder length hair, lol), former NDP premier of B.C. just on CBC tv stating the bombing missions should not be stopped and that people didn’t vote for that in the last election. Wasn’t he also a federal Liberal?

  12. farmerboy, your comment regarding 24 Sussex is probably more realistic than one would think. It’s not beyond the Dauphin’s zeal to actually offer up 24 as a refugee camp. There’s plenty of space to turn into prayer rooms and Wadu wash ups. Heck, they can even take PET’s Gullwing to get to the mosque.

  13. I read The Oxford Book of Modern War in the 1990s, scholars predicted what war would be like in the 21st century…
    – modern military technology and skyrocketing population density would drive the weaker side of a conflict underground, no more uniformed masses in rural areas ripe for slaughter, soldiers would wear civilian clothes and hide among civilians
    – no identifiable central bases, not even a specific country that can be targeted as the enemy home base
…and so on, predicted in the 1990s.
Daesh has made a mistake establishing a nation state in Syria and Iraq (incidentally, Obama calls them ISIL, conceding them the “L”, the Levant, the eastern Mediterranean including Lebanon and Israel, but he’s a Reverend Wright-style Jew-hater and there are indications he is an enemy sympathizer), Daesh will now be forced to scatter out of their physical nation state and embed themselves in other countries so that overwhelmingly superior military technology cannot be brought to bear against them.
So western pro-migrant policy will be assisting Daesh with military strategy. As their nation state gets pounded by superior military technology, they will correct their strategic mistake by scattering to other countries, concealed among civilians.
Note that some of the Paris terrorists came in among the migrants, empty-handed, and quickly acquired AK-47 machine guns and high explosives in Europe.

  14. Funding campaign for mosque burnt in Peterborough is over $110k. Burning your own offices, it seems, is good business.
I am from around that area. I weep for the stupidity. Keep in mind, Ptbo is also the home of Trent University: the most tree-hugger, homosexual, lefty campus you can dream of.

  15. Does that mean that they get to keep the $110K and get the insurance proceeds? And they say Jews are good with money.

  16. “Premier Wall as some kind of redneck”
This portrayal of Wall will never fly.
Any resident of Saskatchewan, or anyone, for that matter who has even a passing knowledge of Saskatchewan issues knows that the Premier simply does not fit the redneck mold….unless one classifies principled, common sense governance as “redneck”.
The CBC made an art out of flinging crap at Stephen Harper. Unfortunately, some of it stuck as we witnessed on Oct. 19. Character assassinations and throwing sh*t won’t have the same sickening results with Brad Wall. The CBC should stick to worshipping their Messiah in Ottawa without attempting to demonize those who disagree with his mindless policies.

  17. Agree with Carl at 11:06 am
Carol Off & Lisa La Phlemn both are still shilling for our “new “- “open “inclusive, consultive government that now claims to have a mandate and the rest of you – shut up !

  18. When Trudeau opens the doors to the 25,000 so-called refugees from Syria in a couple of weeks it will be interesting to see how it will affect attendance at large venues like arenas and theaters, concerts etc. I sure would be ultra nervous to attend any of them and especially in a large city like Toronto where so many immigrants seem to flood into and hide out in, with opportunities to fall through the cracks.
Since it’s our Christmas holiday period our shopping malls will be abuzz as well, wonder if there will be police presence in those areas to keep us safe? This of course is another expense for local areas we all will have to pay for, something that will not have been taken into consideration by the idiots who decided to ride with their Shiny Pony.

  19. The Premiers of Alberta,B.C.,Ontario and Manitoba have all come out in favor of Trudeau’s plan.
We have about 200 people living in the streets here in Kelowna, but our Premier has decided to get on the bandwagon in order to appear “compassionate”. Where was this alleged compassion when there were millions of refugees from Somalia or Sudan?
We’re in a recession, not much hope of it ending in the next few years, and the geniuses who rule over us have proven they can’t be trusted to look after Canadians first, but will pander to any group that votes for them.
We’re about to invite roughly 250 jihadists into Canada, maybe Trudeau figures if he bribes them with enough taxpayer-funded free stuff they’ll vote Liberal.

  20. Agree with Carl at 11:06 am
Carol Off & Lisa La Phlemn both are still shilling for our “new “- “open “inclusive, consultive government that now claims to have a mandate and the rest of you – shut up !

  21. “…Obama … We already have 30 million illegals living here now I guess he figures a few more million wont matter.”
Or perhaps he figures a few more million will matter to achieving his goal of ending the American way of life.

  22. “The reflexive instinct towards tribalism by both sides is irritating.”
Well boo-frickin-hoo look at you. Irritated by natural human behaviour. What are you, superhuman or subhuman?
“risk of getting killed by terrorism or refugees is much, much smaller than everyday risks.”
Getting killed or maimed by Muslims is not accidental.
Muslims target us for attack. Allowing Muslims to live among us is an unnecessary risk that we were not asked if we willing to assume for the sake of the Muslims, not for our own sake.
All people are naturally tribal. If we are to assume the risk of allowing a tribe, which as one of it’s defining tribal features believes it should kill or enslave us, to live among us, and we are not asked if we are willing to assume this risk, it is very understandable that we should resent both this tribe and those who are irritated at our reluctance.

  23. Oh, yeah, and don’t forget the Liberals are telling us the Conservatives left the cupboard bare. Kinda strange they’ve got the money to pay the enormous amount needed to deal with 25,000 from the ME from a bare cupboard. Where is it all going to come from when they shut down the engines that drive our economy and businesses flee the country due to high taxes in places like LIBERAL Ontario?
We may well be living like the Amish, doing laundry on a wash board and the “bathroom” will be a little house out back if the enviro-wackos get their way.
This is what happens when you bet on a Shiny Pony with no common horse sense.

  24. 1.The Minister of Public Safety is now admitting security screening would be done after some of them have been brought to Canada.
2.So, if found to be a security threat to Canada, the judiciary won’t allow them to be deported to any country where they might be at risk. So, we are then stuck with them.
    3. P.M. Trudeau doesn’t want to revoke Canadian citizenship and deport those convicted of terrorism who are dual citizens. He’s already on record as supporting Islamist terrorists to reside in Canada. Should we not interpret his decisions in light of that policy.
4.As noted, there is no functional police/security agency in Syria who can vouch for whether or not the applicants are even Syrian, nor whether they have criminal or Islamist jihadi backgrounds.
The Assad regime in Syria is, in many ways, a client of Iran. So if the refugee applicant was loyal to the Islamic (Shia Caliphate) Republic of Iran, they aren’t going to say.
    5. The Harper Conservative government, under the principle of Triage, was giving priority to those most at risk of being killed. That being Christians, Yazidis, Ismaili(Muslims), as they are viewed as apostates by both Sunni and Shia Islamists.
Thus there is no safe place for them in the Middle-East. Nor are they safe in the larger refugee camps but must hide among the Christian community in Lebanon, or in churches or Christian homes.
P.M. Trudeau objected to this triage selection as “discrimination” and is set on putting Muslims higher on his priority list than those most at risk. This even though Christians and Yazidis are not going to be a security risk.
    6. There are Islamist sympathizers, M.B. controlled mosques and Canada has produced hundreds of Islamist jihadis who have traveled to the Middle-East and Africa to fight jihad, according to C.I.S.I.S.
So even a few or one or two trained terrorists could organize terrorist attacks using the existing networks of Islamist sympathizers already active here.
Those supporting the position of Premier Wall of Saskatchewan need to communicate that to him, to the media, and ask their M.P.s and Senators to support him.
Premier Wall notes that even a 1 percent failure of 25,000 is 250. That is a huge number to be added to the current C.I.S.I.S./RCMP Security watch list. They work overtime now.
Premier Wall is being reasonable in the issues he raises.
A public debate and discussion is badly needed. Demand it.
Challenge those mindless politically correct politicians, who are failing in their obligation to protect Canada.
Or Canada will turn into what we are seeing in Europe.
Also, demand that Canada support France’s military action against the Islamic State.
P.M. Trudeau is failing our allies by announcing withdrawal of our R.C.A.F. fighters now bombing/striking I.S. targets.

  25. “… how is Canada vetting them? …” Canada is vetting them by looking at their UN-issued refugee documents. It is an article of faith for Liberals that the UN is good, right, reliable and trustworthy. The UN must be all that because the alternative is that we’ll have to look, listen, think and judge for ourselves and accept responsibility for the consequences of our own choices and decisions.
“Accept responsibility for the consequences of our own choices and decisions.” That’s blasphemy to Liberals, it’s like telling a Muslim that Mohammed is a false prophet.

  26. Carol Off/CBC radio are taking this crisis/opportunity to shape peoples opinion across this country about Wall. They’re trying to muddy him up,,,a pre-emptive strike, so to speak. They don’t want him to challenge Margret’s son next election.
Wall never said “No” to the migrants, he said “Slow”.

  27. There is a horrendous absurdity in secular liberals twisting themselves in pretzels to defend religious fanatics.

  28. As usual, you misunderstand. The opposite of tribalism is thinking for yourself based on facts, asking questions, observing similar circumstances, looking critically at both your opponents and your own tribe’s arguments and evaluating their validity. You know, not being a LIV or sheeple or whatever you quirky bundles of self-righteous rage are calling mindless tribal (aka. herd-like) behaviour these days.

  29. Premier Wall notes that 1 percent of 25,000 is 250. If even that number were to slip by security screening, 250 Islamist terrorists is a serious danger.
Germany has just cancelled a high profile soccer match and a rock concert due to a “concrete” risk of a terrorist attack.
So, how long before NHL and CFL games face the same here.
Imagine having to evacuate the new Taylor field in Regina and cancel a Grey Cup game.
The only safe place for them to play would end up being the Diefenbunker!
Failing to deal decisively with Islamist terrorism, especially the Islamic State, is degrading the quality of life in former peaceful Europe.
We’re only a few years behind Europe, if P.M. Trudeau’s policies are allowed to compromise Canada’s security.

  30. “The opposite of tribalism is thinking for yourself”
As usual, you’re full of shit.
Anyone can both think for themselves and be part of a tribe.
Many of history’s great free thinkers were solid members of tribes.
The tribe you’re a member of may be a “herd”, but mine isn’t.

  31. OT
Truck bomb found at site where Merkel was to watch German/Dutch soccer game that was to show solidarity and resolve in the face of ragheads. Game cancelled as is a music concert at another venue. Restaurants and bars are open so should have extra customers if they are the only targets left. I suppose it is too early for a hash tag.

  32. As a junior officer in a professional army of a NATO country in the 1980s I was aware that our higher level strategic thinkers were thinking beyond the immediate issue of those days (would the Warsaw Pact grab for Western Europe because their apparent military strength was economically impossible to maintain and our re-armament programs were closing the window of vulnerability) and realising the next threat was indicated by the demographics of the Islamic countries, especially in the Middle East, with political and economic structures that coulnd’t possibly cope with that growth, and all that trouble brewing amongst the oil sources and supply routes that first world economies depend upon.
Our governments have know for decades that this was coming. Did you notice any of them anywhere preparing their democratic electorates for the responsibility of coping with it?

  33. In the process of writing a letter to Prime Minister, my MP, MLA and to Rachael Notley who made the ridiculous comment about not letting “fear” rule us. Really??
So sorry (sarc on) that I am concerned for the safety of my children and grandchildren. And no, I am NOT against immigration or providing aid and assistance to those who need it. Until there is a workable system of vetting these people and determining if they are indeed refugees, I will be against it. And isn’t it interesting that none of these refugees will end up living next door to the same said politicians.

  34. First, I think immigration is a net good when the immigration policy is sensible and based on skills and ability to integrate. Admitting refugees is a positive humanitarian gesture when, like immigration, the policy is sensible…
I think a sensible policy would be for everyone who thinks this to get a refugee family stay with them until they are properly assimilated.

  35. “Refugees” from the heart of the Islamic wastelands are the highest risk to the west. Worst case, they are assured to be embedded with active Jihadists. As well, they are a demographic that, best case, is betting on the long game of Islamic supremacy and shariah (so-called moderate Muslims).
It will likely take a few thousand more dead westerners before the conversation can actually start emerging from the dark recesses of conservative blogs that Islamic immigration is not a good idea unless one wants an eventual society where one is forced to choose to convert to the religion of submission or die.
Harper had the right idea. Anyone before a Muslim.

  36. We have Wynne in Ontario making a colossal mess of the province with extreme arrogance, Notley on her way to killing Alberta and a person not ready for prime time representing Canada on the world stage. Canada is not in good hands, our economy is on the skids and now we’re supposed to fork over big bucks to take in 25,000 people we can’t even properly screen in the time frame Trudeau stubbornly and stupidly has committed to.
Oh Canada, what have we done? Who is standing on guard for thee now? 515

  37. What is happening to all the Christian Syrians who are in the UN camps? Has anyone taken any of them in? With Harper gone, they won’t be coming here.

  38. I applaud Premier Wall for his efforts. However, I am sure the federal government will not listen. Because they are sure any slow down to vet is just unnecessary and anyone who disagrees is a bigoted and fear mongering . We should demand that any refugee that lies on a form is subject to immediate removal. This way we wo’t have to support criminals and terrorists for years and pay their legal fees too.

  39. Yeah, thank you for that. I’ll say it: Stop immigration from Islamic countries. Don’t pause… STOP. And please stop this “we need good screening” BS. Everyone knows this is an impossible task, because there is nothing to screen. No documents, no databases, no way to screen. Conservatives always do this, they let the Liberal party define the debate in their language. Right now everyone is talking about security screening and debating on how long it will take. It CAN’T BE DONE. Forcing these people to show you their Facebook page would be about the best way to vet them.

  40. The comedy gold of the”Vetting” given these invaders.
The UN bureaucrats do the screening, occasionally our bureaucrats check over their work.
    CHECK THE BOX.
    So Documented Persons get priority.
ISIS has quite the business going, producing just that documentation.
So the odds are that a well documented refugee has a very high probability of being a fake refugee.
Notice the media silence , the Kurds broke through into the Yahizi (How ever you spell it) region..Mass graves, systemic rape and slave trading..
    But Charlie Sheen…Oh look ..Squirrel..

  41. If I was to apply for a Canadian passport today, the chances that I would get it before January 1, 2016 are zero. I am, by birth and by over 45 years of life in this country, a Canadian.
I used to “work” for the federal government, and I can tell you first hand how much “work” gets done between Christmas and New Year’s. It starts with a nuh and ends with an un. Even the week before Christmas everyone is leaving early for parties and burning off their annual leave. There is no way they are going to properly screen, process and transport 25,000 refugees between now and January 1st despite Steve Dion’s boast of them working ’round zee cloak”.
CTV and CBC have been trotting out some “expert” who used to work for the refugee board. He scoffs at the suggestion that any of the refugees might pose a security risk and then in the next sentence he admits the process will have to be expedited to meet the tight deadlines Trudeau has imposed. UN employees and foreign governments are going to pre-screen them for us. Its like going to a tire shop and having them ask the stylist from the neighbouring salon to evaluate the wear on your tie-rod ends. “Well Maxine from Chatter’s says everything looks good so I’m not concerned. Load up the family and head back out on the highway. Don’t fret, if anything fails catastrophically we will deal with it as time and resources permit”.

  42. Here is a voice of sanity.
“We have no way of checking the bona fides of these arrivals. Second, more important, as I have said repeatedly, the most serious issue is not whether this or that “refugee” belongs to ISIS, Boko Haram, Jamiat Islamya, Hamas, Al Shabab, and on and on. It is the Islam he brings with him–and most are men. Setting up tens-of-thousands of Muslims in a tolerant, democratic Western country sows the field for a later harvest of radicalization and terror. We have seen it repeatedly as “home grown” Muslims get “radicalized” in their local mosques and become jihadi crazies. Go to Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Dearborn and see what I mean.”
