J.J., great article. We miss you on Sun.
It makes all the difference in the world when the MSM is shilling for the leader or doing its best to tear him or her down.
They didn’t, they started their hate campaign immediately and expected Stephen Harper to accept it, take the sneers and smears and smile. He did not and we all know the result. Of all our PM’s Stephen Harper was afforded the least respect while deserving the most.
The media won their bloodless coup, the dirtiest in our history, the result of which we will be known as their choice governs. We will all find out what that “change” so much talked about but not explained really means for Canada. If they use the Ontario Liberal model we are in for some interesting times….hold onto your wallets.
Liz, it’s more important for you to CYA. Money can be replaced but …..
Very astute political observation, LIZ J
Harper should have declared the ALBERTA OIL SANDS AREA A “NATIONAL CANADIAN PARK” before giving up POWER.
No, throw open your (empty) wallet to distract the parasitic predators, while making and keeping your wealth in other forms. Invest your time and effort in getting the knowledge and skill to do things for yourself and for family and friends who do likewise for you. Be active in your community, join the little platoons that build and sustain society and which naturally tend to foster conservative values. It’s a long game – the rest of our lives for at least some of us, but if we don’t win back the culture, we’ll just be whining on the interweb while the progleft finish us and our country off their leisure.
Well done but lacks the simper, the fawning lovestruck tone of our media party.
Harper Derangement Syndrome, could it be so simple?
Steven Harper is at heart an honest man.
Liars, rouges, bandits, but especially lying cowards hate an honest man beyond reason.
Under that prism there is nothing Harper or any honest man /woman can do to curry favour with our Presstitutes, just by existing and having principles, conservatives stand as repudiation of most of the Progressives Truth.
The Emperor has no clothes. There is no free lunch. No Magic .
The enemy have self identified.
Do not forget.
I recently read this in reference to Donald Trump, but I think it applies here in Canada as well:
“When people become indifferent to the ideas of their would-be leaders, those leaders become prone to dangerous ideas. Democracies that trade policy substance for personal charisma tend not to last as democracies. They become Bolivarian republics.” http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-donald-and-the-demagogues-1441064072
My thoughts on our Media and Turdo la Doo…with apologies to Sir Walter:
Oh Turdo La Doo is come from the east,
Through all the wide Border his brains are the least;
And save his good mirrors he weapons had none,
He rode all unarmed ’cause The Press was his guns.
So gushing in love, but war made him pooh,
There n’er was naught like Turdo la Doo.
The Press gave him breaks, when he stopped to get stoned,
He feared not the stuff which the Fords had undone;
And ere he alighted at Media gate,
The Press Corps fair swoon-ed, our gallant to date:
Laflamme and Sir Peter, Craig Oliver too,
All bent for a sniff, of Turdo la Doo.
I believe I have discovered the root cause of HDS.
Liberals don’t disagree with the conservative policy what they don’t want is to see a conservative get credit for it.
Harper was running government very well and there was little to complain about, as such the minutiae was amplified to justify the visceral hate.
They couldn’t very well condemn the man for standing up for the country as it would deconstruct the
liberal narrative.
What is that narrative?
Only liberal PM’s are best and stand strong for Canada. Or that Canada only matters when the liberals in power. Harper made it very hard to maintain that myth, and they hated him for it.
People want shiny things, Harper was never shiny.
The media want access, Harper never gave them access.
Its not rocket science.
How Mr Harper managed to say in power for 10 years should be an 8 hour documentary titled Things that Are Amazing.
The next CPC leader wont have to worry about Joe Clark spewing his mindless drivel around.\
The next CPC leader wont have to worry about some insane quote by a backbencher.
The next CPC leader gets a united Conservative party that wont scare most voters.
The hard work has been done and its been done thanks to Stephen Harper.
The next CPC leader gets to reap the benefits of what Mr Harper has sown.
The core support is still there, but, no party leader has ever picked a fight with the media and won.
That the MSM was a deciding factor in this election shouldn’t surprise anyone, but, for any CPC member to not understand that the next leader has to pass the MSM litmus test would be surprising.
Golf Town sells drivers for 800$, shiny club head with a 2 dollar protective cover.
Peoples sell rocks dug out of the ground, cut then polished to a shine and men and women flock to shell out thousands of dollars.
If the next CPC leader doesn’t understand marketing and branding to the clueless then they will not win.
Its not rocket science.
Oh, boy! I’m going to search eBay right now for some of the 2006 Global TV Cabinet Trading Cards!
So is the WSJ still pulling for Bush?
The front page of the Toronto Star today has an article about Trudeau’s “honeymoon” with the public and his 60% approval rating… right next to a gushing article, complete with photo, about Justin’s awesome hair!!
And they marvel that the guy’s having a “honeymoon” period? Typical lamestream media: create the story, then breathlessly report on it.
The knives were out for Steven Harper before he was even elected. Think about this – the msm portrays him as a controlling non compromising dictator but he actually governed the bulk of his time running a minority government. I am sure he didn’t make any compromises . The msm portrayed him as a despot with a hidden agenda from the time he took leadership. When that didn’t happen ,the spin they put on everything roasted him anyway.
Interesting to juxtapose CBC headlines on the Montreal sewage fiasco, with what was normal for the past 31/2 years. CBC Headline reads:
Montreal sewage dump: Environment minister gives conditional OK
Note is does not say Trudeau Government Approves Massive Montreal Sewage Dump
Different strokes and all that I guess.
Don’t cry for Harper. He served 3 terms, one in a majority. For any conservative leader n this socialist backwater that’s nothing short of miraculous.
This newly-elected nitwit has yet to prove himself, and he may yet be remembered (media cheerleaders notwithstanding) as an utter disaster. The same newspaper that’s buttering him up today also reports that JT still fully intends to bring 25,000 refugees into Canada by the end of this year. If news out of Europe is any indication, this could be his first big mistake.
I don’t see the Syrian refugee thing turning into a mistake, for Trudeau.
The media will fairly shout his praises to the skies and their huge audience, “while Harper sent F-18’s to bomb Syrians, Trudeau gives them humanitarian aid”.
He may win the Nobel Prize next year.
Trudeau will import 25,000 Liberal voters, plus Allah knows how many each year after this. For a Muslim friendly PM, what could be better?
My biggest worry is Paris, if the Dauphin signs away our sovereignty, which he is very likely to do, we will be bled dry by the UN.
Trudozo the clown is surrounded by one radical enviro nazi after another and they are only too willing to sell Canadians out in Paris and thats just what they’re going to do, without a doubt. The Media are already setting him up as the hero of the “enviroment” and in typical tyrannical fashion the Media are already warning anyone who dares to oppose their half wit leader will be met with a relentlessly ferocious and vicious Media beat down. The Media are there to sell the imbecile and attack anyone who stands in the way of the “Globalist” agenda, the very reason Trudozo was inserted into the PMO. Will Trudozo sell us out in Paris while being cheered on by the Media cartel? Bet on it!
Here is how it was reported: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/harper-sworn-in-as-22nd-prime-minister-1.581596
“There had been much speculation about Harper’s choices for cabinet. He had to balance the need to represent gender, regions, minorities and political experience, while keeping an eye to the future. Harper also needed to strike a rural-urban balance after being shut out of three of the country’s largest cities of Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.”
Luckily this comes naturally to Liberals; after all it is 2015. They get to use Grit logic. They believe in climate change because only an crazy (like a fox) idiot would tax if it weren’t so. It’s OK to dump raw sewage because it doesn’t affect climate change, so therefore can’t be taxed as easily. OTOH, poor people don’t pay taxes (yet), so when the rich are taxed more of their “fair share,” don’t give more to the poor, launder it through the “middle class in crisis” who end up paying the extra tax anyway.
Remember, bigger government is better government. That’s been proved everywhere – in Greece, in Russia, and especially East Germany. Look at China now, no issues there, wink, nudge; anyway you gotta admire their dictatorship. (Clarification alert: love the Chinese people; their leadership – not so much)
It’s very simple, mix in generously every statist meme, separate the ethics and discard them, add a pinch of truth, stick in some “nice hair” and you have the Grit potion for the consumption of Torontariowe sheeple.
Ingredients and pan greasing supplied by Alberta and Saskatchewan, applied with mediocracy newsprint. BC helps “equalize” the ingredients with emulsification tax dollars, to extend its shelf life.
Now does everyone get it?
That’s a great piece by McCullough.
And astute. Here’s Global News (and this isn’t a joke):
Prime Minister Trudeau dropped the mic with this great answer about why his cabinet has so many women”
Yup – MC Trudeau, yo.
Two days ago on Cbc.Ca, when commenting on a story about the Liberals fast tracking the Syrian Rebels into Canada, I commented: ”I miss Mr. Harper already.”
My comment was deleted.
He won’t be so popular or so cute when he adds his ”enviro-tax” to gasoline, and we pay $3.50 per liter to fill an SUV!!
I remember when his dad brought in the Metric system, and every gas station in Canada had to buy new meters and/or new pumps. Gas shot up like crazy!! Trudeaumania soon disappeared!
they look so nice going in….
