What’s The Opposite of Diversity?

University!

According to FEC third quarter reports released October 16, 47 professors at the top 50 liberal arts colleges in the country, as ranked by U.S. News & World Report, have given to presidential campaigns. Of those 47 professors, Hamilton College History Professor Robert Paquette was the sole donor to a Republican candidate, giving $150 to Carly Fiorina’s campaign.

  1. One thing I can never understand is why conservative governments can never find conservatives to appoint to boards etc. How did Stephen Harper appoint 7 of 9 Supreme Court judges and not appoint one that didn’t crap on him. I know lawyers who believe that judges shouldn’t make up law. Doesn’t he? Supreme Court judges don’t have to be Solomon, they just have to be lawyers.
Republican governors should appoint the crankiest old conservatives to the boards of universities and they should appoint administrators who reflect their values. Why is there no such thing as an activist conservative?

  2. I would have never guessed Hamilton would have the sole contributor; that place is one of the most liberal, well, er, liberal arts colleges going.

  3. Now that you have outed poor Professor Paquette he will be out of work and then there will be none. ;>)

  4. I clicked through to make essentially the same comment as Eric. Why don’t you like Prof. Paquette? He’s done now, the mobs will be gathering shortly by the “safe place” next to the gender neutral bathroom.

  5. These “onations” to the political statists are like investments in their future sinecure in the masthead of the scientific dictatorship the globalist left forming. All run by theories from “experts” from science, Tech, and academia who will provide willing “evidence” of the government’s control agendas.

  6. fear not.
I presently am attending a history course at the local unibercity *free gratis* with a senior citoyen tuition exemption. ready to pounce on any leftistisms I stumble upon.
When I worked at said institution oh, what was it? >40 annees ago, I was NOT of the assertive type and had a host of other distractions, concerns, issues; namely raising a family and paying bills.
    not now.
rest assured, in the intervening 4 decades I have witnessed/experienced/formal studied a LOT of politics and history and can summon factoids, events, processes by the bushel and slap them in the face with the stuff. it would delight SDA to see it happen. I have NO fear of retribution from the faculty seeing as I acquired my BA many moons ago.
thorn in the side. gadfly. outspoken critic etc etc. blaming americans for all the worlds ills is still very much in vogue; it actually is very satisfying to pick them off individually or in groups. skewering marxist thought is my specialty.
    LOL !!!

  7. Now we know why our universities are churning out so many radical leftists.
scar, good question. I suspect that there were a number of liberals posing as progressive conservatives in the party advising the Harper government.

  8. That doesn’t show bias.
It shows that those who are book-learned are much smarter than the rest.
And they have the books to prove it !

  9. “I have had the following experience more than once: I am speaking with a professional academic who is a liberal. The subject of the underrepresentation of conservatives in academia comes up. My interlocutor admits that this is indeed a reality, but says the reason why conservatives are underrepresented in academia is because they don’t want to be there, or they’re just not smart enough to cut it. I say: “That’s interesting. For which other underrepresented groups do you think that’s true?” An uncomfortable silence follows.” –Pascal-Emanneul Gobry

  10. Unfortunately, that $150 makes it officially bipartisan, move along wingnuts! /progressive media
