Y2Kyoto: Pre-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Via Ed Driscoll;

Some climatologists merely report depression and feelings of hopelessness. Others, resigned to our shared fate, have written what amount to survival guides for a sort of Mad Max dystopian future where civilization has broken down under the pressures of resource scarcity and habitat erosion.

A July frost can do that to a person.

  1. Sheesh. I’ve known for 20 years that the “consensus” suffer psycho problems. It appears that non-brainwashed up and coming shrinks should be able to set up offices anywhere and make a killing. Or maybe not. These cAGWists may just take the easy, gutless way out. Either way…win-win.

  2. My guess is that most of these clowns had mental problems BEFORE. That is why they were so easily sucked into the cult.

  3. This is going to get really funny as the Sun goes to sleep by 2030 and we all freeze while waiting to boil.
    Wolf….WOLF!!! cried the ecotards.

  4. A frosty Germany in July…!
Well that need’s a rousing Christmas carol to lift the spirits, from near my mum’s hometown.

  5. I would not worry…. 96% of all climate scientists may not fill a phone Booth. The butterfly twit was one of three, all with less than 10 years of self proclaimed expertise in nothing.
How do you use the worthless wind modules? Convert them to AGW community living clusters with one-way ladders. You get to go up, but the first step down is a sudden drop (moral lesson).
BTW: I don’t think Greece paid Gore his commission. That explains things that go bump in the night

  6. A July frost is not unprecedented.
It is generally a given that July is frost free in Sw Ontiowe.
I recall back in the 60’s when corn was emerging as a cash crop, in Oxford rather than Kent or Essex, we had about 6 acres of river flats in corn and it was a failure….it got frosted every month of the year.
In the 90’s, I drove through a snow squall, on I75, just north of West Branch, MI, in late June. Melted on contact, but made for poor visibility and stuck to the wipers…melted off in a mile er 2.

  7. something I read years ago keeps popping up in a subtle manner. today I read about the sun going into a quite period and the temperatures around the globe dropping. they say about 2030 we will see the maximum drop. on a site years ago, called science .org, there was an article stating that by 2032 the planet would experience a 1.5 degree drop in over all temperature. I do not remember if that was c or f. so here I am, an old fart who reads way too much being aware of something now seems to be making a reappearance. I had put this out there in the past. the site was an early debunker of so called AGW. it is so sad that there really are no honest scientists associated with the CO2 fraud.

  8. You know, those of these “scientists” who are that depressed should simply ask a Belgian doctor to euthanise them.

  9. “it is so sad that there really are no honest scientists associated with the CO2 fraud. ”
No it is logical, that honest scientists don’t engage in fraud…..and are unemployed……

  10. The problem with the dangers of a “Mad Max” dysfunctional future are not going to
come from climate change, but from the cure. I came from a field of heavy industry,
and the breakneck speed at which America is deindustrializing is staggering. Liberal
judges have turned vast swaths of America’s bread basket fallow and we are in great
danger of having the entire power grid collapse under the false hope of “Conserving”
our way of an imaginary energy crisis.
Ayn Rand erred in only one regard: The lights will not go out because of a strike
by the producers, it come as a result of efforts to “Save the planet.” The average
tree hugger sees a Utopian future with all of humanity living in small scale
socialist camps like the American Indians. “Living in harmony with nature, guilt
free at last” as one of them was quoted as saying, in small scale agrarian (vegetarian)
communities. Their goal is the complete destruction of the economy and all commerce.
Bad news you f*&king dorks, tribal lifestyle was brutal with rampant malnutrition,
tribal wars, women dying in childbirth, and backbreaking work, something that
liberals are allergic to! The primitive ideas of Rousseau about the “Noble Savage”
ignores the harsh reality that such systems were barbaric. Thomas Hobbes got this
    argument right:
“Whatsoever therefore is consequent to a time of Warre, where every man is Enemy to every man; the same is consequent to the time, wherein men live without other security, than what their own strength, and their own invention shall furnish them withall. In such condition, there is no place for Industry; because the fruit thereof is uncertain; and consequently no Culture of the Earth; no Navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by Sea; no commodious Building; no Instruments of moving, and removing such things as require much force; no Knowledge of the face of the Earth; no account of Time; no Arts; no Letters; no Society; and which is worst of all, continuall feare, and danger of violent death; And the life of man, solitary, poore, nasty, brutish, and short.”
In the environmentalist utopia, there will be tribal chiefs. And just like the
chiefs of Indian tribes, the leaders will have total power. Since liberals
are allergic to work, I am sure they all think they will be on top of the
social hierarchy. Who says they never learned anything from Karl Marx?

  11. Depressed and hopeless?
I would guess that to be a pretty normal physiological response to the years of subconscious guilt eating away at them for working this fraudulent attack against their fellow citizens.

  12. Hopefully this newly-minted illness will cause a lot of these parasites to develop the usual range of stress-related illnesses and die off as quickly as possible.

  13. Yes, the work is plausible but of course as yet unchecked. It involves two turbulent dynamos in the Sun, one deep, the other near the photosphere, with periods nearly the same but not identical. So they come into phase and go out of phase. About 2030 they will be maximally out of phase, and there will be few sunspots.
There are a couple of mechanisms by which this might influence climate. The first, CERN, mechanism is that low magnetic activity allows more cosmic rays to reach the upper atmosphere, producing more “seeds” for clouds, and more clouds. The other is that the Sun is much more variable in the UV than hitherto suspected, and that it is UV absorption which causes variation in climate.
Because this work appears to be scientific rather than pseudoscientific its validity or lack thereof will probably be determined in a few (less than five) years.

  14. Great point Oldwhitedude! The temps were probably in degrees C. Most people do
not realize that a 1-1/2 or 2 degree C swing in average global temperature would
make things as hot or as cold as hell! Here is the problem with the tree-huggers:
The global climate is so complex that NOBODY can even claim to know them all.
Mammy Nature has been keeping global temperatures within a few degrees for
millions of years, with the exception of the occasional ice ages which are
extremely rare. The same goes for exceptionally hot spells, but both
extremes are survivable. If the Jerry Sandusky of climate change (Michael
Mann) can make the claim that a swing of – .7 below the baseline to – + .7
over 1,000 years is cause for alarm, he needs to have his f%^king head examined!
The hot (or cold) as hell spells when you are talking about 1-1/2 or 2 degree C
exist above or below the baseline. Mama Nature rarely allows this to happen.
The bitch is really good at regulating the atmosphere isn’t she?

  15. Sorry, I forgot to insert the word variables in the line about them not knowing
them all. Gotta start proofreading before hitting the submit button.

  16. The green nut cases lay awake all night beliving their hears the trees screaming when their cut down or they listen to the taped calls of whales and wolves and beleive their telling us all to respect and worship gaia Just shows what their stict vegan diets and the nuts and berriy diets effects their minds after they sniffed glue in the younger years and watched those dumb Captian Planet Marathons on Earthday and meditate sitting in the middle of the woods sipping water from the Pur or britta pitchers and smoking wacky weed from their hookas

  17. It’s probably a good thing many of them are depressed, indicates they have a conscience and are, at some level, ashamed of the scam they are involved in…

  18. Tell me somethingI don’t know.
The whole CAGW meme is emotional basket cases projecting their delusion upon us society in general.
Every accusation they have made about any who question their beliefs, has turned out to be their own pattern of behaviour.
The Endless Lew Papers were classics, you who doubt my divine wisdom.. Why you are all crazy.
Surrender to the collective, the consensus says, trust authority, doom from this magic gas(plant food).
20 Years ago you would have to have been smoking something real fine to have made this crap up, but fools and bandits picked it up and ran with it.
CAGW created, promoted and still protected from investigation by our bureaucracies.
It was not private industry that created a campaign of lies, smear and propaganda directly against the taxpaying citizens of our nation.
    Follow the money
Of course these trough snuffling con artists are depressed, they can see the public contempt growing and history has never shown the mob to have been less than generous in the retribution we apply to rabid watchdogs.
Especially those who smile in our face as they attempt to slide the knife into our backs.

  19. As we in St. John’s “enjoy” another cold summer, I can discern a trend: in the 80s we had several Julys with runs of uncomfortable temperatures (> 27 deg), where fans were nearly mandatory during the day and at night. The last such run was in 1987. In the 90s we had one or two days where fans were a good idea at night. In the last 15 years there have been no such nights.
No doubt people in other cities will have different experiences.

  20. Hi John, I live in south Central Ontario, in a rural area with a forest around our house and a river in our backyard. I bought my only fan in 2005 and used it once or twice that year and then again once or twice in 2006. That was the last time I used it.

  21. The eco-wackos,tree huggers, gronola munchers, tree sitters and back to nature weirdos calling industrialists CLIMATE CRINIMALS and want them persicuted for offending Gaia their great pagan deity they worship during their crazy Earthday celebrations proving Enviromentalims a mental disorder cuased by too many nuts and berries too many Captian Planet Marathons and watching AVATAR and A INCONVENT TRUTH 24/7 and lying awake all night listening to the trees scream when their chopped down

  22. “In the environmentalist utopia, there will be tribal chiefs. And just like the chiefs of Indian tribes, the leaders will have total power. Since liberals are allergic to work, I am sure they all think they will be on top of the social hierarchy. Who says they never learned anything from Karl Marx?”
Oh I don’t doubt they think they’ve learned all there is to know, period, not just Marx. I’m sure they are confident that, as the enlightened elite, there’s no way they’d NOT be running the show.
That’s how it always works. In theory.
In practice, however, all these strains of socialism and collectivism quickly transition from intellectualism to thuggery. And the oh-so-smart are amongst the first to be sent to the camps.
Even on a more local tribal level, if they think the majority of the community that has to do the actual work is going to just take orders from these fools, they’re in for a shock.

  23. “In practice, however, all these strains of socialism and collectivism quickly transition from intellectualism to thuggery. And the oh-so-smart are amongst the first to be sent to the camps.”
You have that right, and the two most famous revolutions in recent history, the French and the Russian are testaments to that. As you and most here, the ignorant troll above being the exception, know that both revolutions were initially led by moderates and soon taken over by radicals who initiated a bloodbath. The bloodbath in Russia lasted for decades.

  24. “with the exception of the occasional ice ages which are
    extremely rare.”
Not quite. The earth has spent more time in ice ages than in the nice inter-glacial we are currently in. Around 10,000 years from now, they will be skating on a mile of ice in Washington, D.C. Not that that is a bad thing.

  25. The PTSD experienced by the believers is the result of the cognitive dissonance arising from their guilty knowledge that the thing *is* a scam, but that they cannot publicly acknowledge that fact.
This is the corollary to stage 3 of the 8 stages of Scam (see a couple of posts down!)..
    3) the causal relationship is weaker than first supposed; the research is found to be sloppy, the facts have been fudged, subsequent studies do not fully support the original claims, nevertheless the orthodoxy is promulgated all the more harshly for being doubted.

  26. Good point V10. Thuggery is part and parcel of all socialist utopian systems.
but the point is that leftist all believe they will be a part of the ruling
class and immune to danger. But since contemporary leftists are a collection
metrosexual pantywasts, my only solace will be to see how quickly a real
Stalin like hard ass will purge them.
So, if America falls to these idiots I only to live long enough to that happen!

  27. Churchill:
“No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance. And this would nip opinion in the bud; it would stop criticism as it reared its head, and it would gather all the power to the supreme party and the party leaders, rising like stately pinnacles above their vast bureaucracies of Civil servants, no longer servants and no longer civil. And where would the ordinary simple folk – the common people, as they like to call them in America – where would they be, once this mighty organism had got them in its grip?”
