  1. Another app that I DON’T need. I bet it’ll be a smash hit though – everybody like to vent about everything.

  2. How else are you supposed to shout your social pieties and display your moral superiority?

  3. it is amazing. I never thought that I would say that I am glad to have very few years left on this freaking planet. everyday all I read is stupid. does anyone have a rational thought anymore. I watched a few of my younger grandchildren play in a small pond on fathers day and I have to wonder how we can pervert their tiny innocent minds to believe the crap that is being spewed worldwide. I do not want them to be slaves to any ideology, yet that seems to be goal in every country on the planet. if I could remove from the planet, every person who thinks they should tell me how to live, they all would be gone in the blink of an eye.

  4. I’m gonna leap in with my second-hand and probably out-of-date explanation that, as far as I can tell, it is a reference to “applications” that your tablet or cell phone can use to perform an amazing number of amazingly useless tricks. Good thing most of them are free (or at least there is a version written by a competitor that can do essentially the same thing and IS free).
The most useful apps I have are BibleGateway and NIVlive, but I have an ever-expanding assortment of others including, as a very limited example: an international clock that can hold dozens of time-zones in addition to being a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm etc.; a noise (sound pressure level) meter; a level; several RPN logic calculator emulators; connections to Overdrive and Hoopla which, courtesy of the local library can provide access to a huge library of movies, music, e-books, talk books etc. to keep me out of mischief when I can’t physically get my carcass down to the local library to pick up a book, music CD or movie DVD that I can borrow from any library branch on the TRAC system (basically every library in Alberta); plus an array of mind-challenging games and brain trainers to keep my mind active now that I’m retired. And, of course, three web browsers, three app stores, plus Amazon, eBay and youtube.
Every time I need to do something, the first thing that pops into my head is: “There must be an app for that…” And while I’m searching for what I need, I look to see what free apps are available today.
I can sure see how kids get hooked on their cell-phones nowadays.

  5. Christian Pilgrim, you’re right about Bible Gateway, it’s invaluable. I’m now in the habit of never commenting on a religious issue without a quick look at Bible Gateway to make sure I’ve got it right, and I’ve become much less obnoxious as a result. (I know what you’re thinking, but believe me, I was actually more obnoxious before.) I don’t use the app but they have a website and I recommend it highly.
