“You know what? We’re at a point where Canadians … are cynical about politics and not paying an awful lot of attention to what’s going on in the federal scene right now. People are getting ready for the end of school, for beginning summer vacations and going off with the family,”
What he meant: “It’s not that I’m not qualified, it’s that you don’t have enough faith in me.”

What he’s writing his concession speech already? Guess they should have pick the spaceman instead of the space cadet.
Trudeau is the only one who is afraid. He’s not just circling the drain, he’s making a deep dive.
The tenure of his father might have a lot to do with cynical politics, eh?
Oh and everybody knows the NDP vote rises in the summer. Happens like clockwork.
His 32 point plan is unadulterated idiocy. Warren Kinsella said on Lilley/The Rebel he would pay $100 to anyone who could name ten of them off the top of their head. Kinsella also said he thinks Harper will win, he said it almost as an aside, a given.
Once the right flank of the Liberal vote – a sizeable chunk indeed probably up to 10% of the total vote – leaves him to save their party from NDP oblivion, Harper will be fully in charge. Meantime the progressives will eat their own, far removed now from any ideas about “strategic voting” or “anybody but Harper.”
The AB NDP election debacle (Now David Dodge has joined the Notley team) is a mixed blessing because it doesn’t reflect federal voting intentions (Tories still way ahead 50% or something) but now will cause the spotlight to be shone on Mulcair and his merry band of Quebec rookies.
Right now in Quebec the Bloc is taking Liberal votes now because they are the target of choice, courtesy of their moribund leader, but the sights will soon change to the richer seat bounty of NDP ridings, held by various social activists, students and absentees.
IOW looking good.
Trudeau can’t be completely stupid; he’s certainly learned how to non-answer questions as well as any sleazy politician.
Seeing the line about the Bloc willing to form a coalition with whomever has the best offer, I wondered if the PC party gets only a minority, would a coalition with them be preferable to a Liberal-NDP coalition? I was really pissed when the Lib-NDP tried to take over when the PCs had that minority back in 2009?
JT we’re just not ready for a Maoist loving substitute drama teacher to lead our country. Sorry dude go smoke a joint and watch some Simpsons and leave us alone.
The Boy’s obvious lack of qualifications for ANY job,let alone Prime Minister of Canada, is finally becoming apparent to all but the teeny Liberal minds who chose him to be Leader in the first place.
But we’d better NOT rest assured this means Harper will be the next PM, there are millions of socialists out there who love NDP promises of free stuff.
For us hunters,Mulcair would be even worse than Trudeau, as NDP fear of violent rednecks with guns is well known. The NDP has always been against private ownership of firearms so with Mulcair in the PM’s Office, we should have about six months before the machinations begin and our property is seized by the RCMP.
This innocuous item from their website should give you an idea of how the NDP would proceed: “Stopping the smuggling of illegal firearms and
enable all municipalities, provinces, and territories
to implement a ban on handguns.”
One small step, leading to an outright ban on all guns..
If this is what the deluded Dauphin is “hearing” he has never left the lib echo chamber of the CBC studios and made it out to meet real Canadians yet.
Not ready, maybe next time – if Harper and Mulcair retire or resign.
“We’re at a point where Canadians … are cynical about politics and not paying an awful lot of attention to what’s going on in the federal scene right now.”
Gosh, so perceptive!
“Maybe next time”???
How about NEVER?
Why would anyone utter such crap and give this smarmy simpleton some future credibility?
What could he possibly do to become more qualified between now and then?
Not to be rude!
I just think it is a fool’s game to say maybe someday to a silver spoon socialist.
Gotta agree with that. I find the PC ads extremely annoying when they point out that Trudeau is not yet ready to govern. This pretty much infers that someday he might make a decent Prime Minister but now is not the time.
The man has provided a lot of evidence that he is gaffe-prone, immature and, to be blunt, too stupid to take the reins. He will never be ready to be Prime Minister. In fact, either Ricky, Bubbles or Julian would probably do a better job. With their propensity for theft, they would certainly make good Liberals.
I think the latest PC ad is absolutely brilliant. All the actors are your neighbour next door and they trash JT very gently so as not to gain him any sympathy. They avoid taking a position on marijuana by dismissing it as not an important issue to Canadians. And I still laugh at the closing “Nice hair, though”. Absolutely brilliant. Best ad for a long time.
Dull Pony…
Has anyone checked out the Liberal ‘pro-active disclosures’ lately ?
35 MPs. Six, including Dion and McCallum, lead you to an error occurred page, you get nothing.
The other 29 have not listed an expense since June 2014.
June 3rd,2013, Justin announces his ‘PAD’.
June 12th 2014, Justin says that posting expenses is an “onerous task”.
So they stopped.
But they still say that it shows that Justin is doing politics differently. The PAD is a farce. The few numbers that are ‘disclosed’ cannot be compared to the numbers on the parliamentary website because of the differences in the time frames.
It is completely useless.
The media has not noticed, or they have and decided that it would be in their interests to prop up the Liberal lie.
Check it out;
http://www.liberal.ca/
AND,the hospitality expenses that are posted are about 95% ‘dinner, stakeholder’ and nothing else.
Hedy Fry’s expenses would be a good place to start to see that nothing has changed.
OK Lenny. I will agree with you on the somewhat gentle nature of the ads. I personally don’t like vicious attack ads and feel that they are counter-productive especially with our media jumping through hoops to portray Harper and conservatives in general as big meanies.
However, in my opinion, they could have omitted the part about “nice hair”. I find this to be childish.
As many have pointed out … Trudeau writes his own attack ads. The Conservatives could simply run clips of Trudeau’s maniacal musings with the words “nuff said” at the end. Even the liv would have to give this some serious second thoughts.
Poor little princess. …
There is no PC party anymore. It ended in 2003.
Would the root cause of some of that cynicism be that 40 years ago Justin’s father campaigned against the Conservatives wage and price controls and upon being elected implemented them?
Yes, cynicism is the reason why Canadians aren’t supporting him.
By the way, Justin, I have a bridge you might like to buy.
Actually cynicism would be a pretty good reason to vote FOR him.
His theory would only make sense if they only asked people if they were only polling about his support.
In my comment above about the Liberal’s “pro-active disclosure”, I made an error.
There are actually 36 Liberal MPs. I skipped over David McGuinty, likely because he is so special.
David, brother of Dalton who employed Gerald Butts (who is now JT’s top advisor), has absolutely nothing disclosed since day one.
Nada,zilch,zero,as in ‘the rules don’t apply to me, I’m a McGuinty,you’re not’.
https://www.liberal.ca/proactive/?parliamentarian=david-mcguinty
That is not ‘REAL CHANGE’, that is the ‘same old, same old’ corrupt and elitist Liberal party.
I agree. The Marxist Mulcair is much more dangerous than the Dauphin. Mulcair has plenty of Bolos in his party just itching to get a chance to take away more freedoms and cement the governments to the unions to keep control. Much more gun control is just the more open manifestation of this agenda.
What he meant, people don’t give a rats ass about the Liberal party of Canada
You may be right, the Dauphin is manifestly a self dealing four flusher, who couldn’t bluff his way out of the outhouse.
Mulcair is a more credible threat but the he always lets out the “Angry Tom” persona; and doesn’t have the smooth gravitas that Jack Layton exuded.
Despite all the peels of thunder and flashes of lightning, “Angry Tom” comes up short this time round.
Cheers

The only useful function of the Spawn is to pull support from the NDP to allow Harper to continue to govern with his core support of 42 plus or minus about 2%. If he (Spawn) is seriously trailing the NDP, the Conservatives need to help him by praising his hair etc, something vacuous that will pull a few points from the LIVs. Lizzy can be useful for that too but she shot herself in the foot in public and may have sent some of her wacko vote back home to the NDP.
The add states that this character is not ready yet.
The conservatives must be doing it in jest.
The guy has no clue, none, zero, nothing, in so far as the government goes, not only national, the guy could not run a municipal dog pound.
He could be, possibly, someday, somewhat good at teaching drama every so often.
Blames of course the working stiff going to work every day at 6 and coming home tired of the newspeak rhetoric from the employment site.
They are going to vote for him, the key question is, why?
Is it the work experience? Understanding of anything? Knowledge of something? Knowhow of how things work in real world?
The drama queen can do the part time drama.
End of story.
Is it just me or does his mannerism suggest he may have been trained at the same thespian college as Bill Shatner? Just sayin’.
What Jeff said at 3:46.
One of my pet peeves…c’mon biff…you’ve been around long enough.
They know that if he doesn’t make it this time the libs will skid his rig like the last two leaders
Samson he’s not.
Look at the bright side. They chose JT as leader before he became a seasoned politician. After this coming election which may turn out to be a bigger disaster for the Federal Libs then the past election. He will be kicked to the curb and ignored for the rest of his short political life. Hopefully never to return and ending the hopes of a Trudeau dynasty.
JT…. Nice hair, though……
I think it’s far worse than you believe. Read this carefully:
“Canadians … are … not paying an awful lot of attention to what’s going on in the federal scene right now. People are getting ready for the end of school, for beginning summer vacations and going off with the family.”
No, Justin. That’s not what Canadians are doing, now what people are doing.
That’s what schoolchildren are doing.
Which tells me a lot more about the maturity of his point of view than I suspect he intended.
I suspect people are paying attention and have come to the realization that Trudeau is somewhat inexperienced and clueless. The debates will be a disaster for Trudeau as Harper and Muclair are both experienced in that format and they know their stuff.
Trudeau has a propensity for avoiding scrutiny in the form of tough questions, choosing instead to simply walk off, leaving them unanswered, which has always frustrated me. However, if he wants to do take this approach to the live Leaders’ Debate, he has my blessing.
one should never over estimate the intelligence of the Canadian electorate.
This becoming PM thing … not really that big a deal. If it doesn’t work out, he can retire back to the challenges of teaching middle school drama class. That is where his true talents lie anyway. It is a place where he can have successes.
