  1. 318 “muscle”, that only a slightly heavier boat anchor than a 273, a 340 or 360 wa a bit of muscle,413, 425 or 440 could rock.

  2. Lot’s of Cuda’https://www.facebook.com/skyblue1987/media_set?set=a.10207116851782836.1073741853.1327915055&type=1

  3. Forget the car specs: really touching that her husband went to all that trouble to find her car and bring it back for her. Now that’s romantic.

  4. Hey Kate;
Here’s a link to the song “Cuda Janet”.
This guy sets the bar pretty high. I don’t think I’ll show my wife this post.

  5. A sweet story.
Know what I got for graduation in 1968? A few thousand dollars in student loans. Woe is me.
But I have a 1940 Pontiac street rod now. All good.

  6. A ‘cuda with a 318ci (2bbl?)was a nice little buggy for daughter’s first car or Mom/s grocery car – this car didn’t become a tire fryer until the hemi gets shoe-horned into it.
At any rate, I see a lot more of these old muscle cars around than the econo-boxes of the day.

  7. Brings back memories.
120 mph, roll down the windows, no seat belts or air conditioner, gas 23 cents per gallon.
Friend of mine had a 1965 Chevy Super Sport, 110 mph, no seat belts,
passed a motorcycle cop going 50 mph,
he stepped off his bike to see what was wrong.. ha. sac/
Amazing we survived those muscle cars..

  8. Nice little car, and I wouldn’t mind having one for old time’s sake.
But 318, 340, 383, or 440, (or the GM or Ford equivalents)they all handled like bathtubs full of water, they rusted away like tin cans in a swamp, and the engine life was crappy compared to today’s cars.

  9. yes , my old 283 could break loose . probably more of a testament to the tread than the engine.

  10. I had a 1970 Dodge pickup with a 318 2bbl, 3 on the tree. Quick as a cheetah but forget about road handling. It rotted out in my driveway and I ended up selling to a high school auto mechanics student. About a year later I saw it inside the local mall as a fully restored display piece. What a hoot!

  11. Sorry to rain on the parade here, but the husband found it in her barn. Not exactly scouring the country. Then it looks like he changed the tires, dusted it off, changed the oil and fired it up. That’s a regularly night for some.
As for a 318, gawd. The word, Mopar is latin for, “car with no power and bad starters.”

  12. FORD – Fix Or Repair Daily
True the 318 is a pig of an engine and you had to have a spare ballast resistor with you at all times. The 426 Hemi was a huge upgrade but there was always the slant 6 for those on a real budget.

  13. Lots of posters here with a little knowledge about Mopars. And I mean ‘little’.
