@faisal_moola We value your feedback and the Enbridge advertisements are no longer airing on Tims TV.

What's your target date for closing drive-thru's @TimHortons?

Update 2:This didn’t take long.
Tim Hortons has no problem doing business in OPEC dictatorships. They have stores in Kuwait. In the United Arab Emirates. In Qatar. In Oman. Those are all dictatorships. Tim Hortons happily takes their money.
But they think Canadian oil and gas workers are too unethical.
Fine. If Tim Hortons doesn’t want Canadian oil money, let’s not give it to them. Boycott Tims.
#BoycottTims is now trending #1 in Canada.

See ya Timmy. McDonalds coffee is better anyhow.
Easy for me to do, they lost me as a customer years ago. Their coffee really sucks-like mop water-blah!
Faisal Moola is the David Suzuki Foundation’s Director General for Ontario and Northern Canada and an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto.
Activism works, the time to fight back is now, not on Oct.20th.
Enbridge is a blue chip major Canadian corporation, what could possibly be offensive about them to any competent adult? I have been modifying my consumer habits for years in an effort to avoid providing any financial support to communist revolutionaries – no newspapers, magazines, no pop culture spending – but TIMMY’S?!? Thanks SDA, now I know where not to fill up the travel mugs when I’m road-tripping.
U of T is he?
My kid was considering attending guess I’ll have to let them know that until they stop hiring political activists posing as teachers I’ll be investing the tuition where my kid can get an actual education.
Sent them a lengthy message telling them I’m taking my business elsewhere – including the 750 10$ Gift certificates I give to clients every year.
corporate bigotry and bigotry towards corporations should not be tolerated.
What is ‘Tim’s TV’?
Thanks for the easy access to their contact info, will be composing an email when I am done here.
It will start with my shock they don’t believe their customers are smart enough to decide important issues for themselves. Then I will ask how much business they are prepared to lose from the oil and gas sectors, not to mention those who simply detest acts of censorship. I will close with a reflection of my disgust at their monumental hypocrisy of trying to pose pretty for greenies while virtually every drive-thru cross Canada is like an 18 hr a day traffic jam. Many of these are in cities with NO IDLING BYLAWS no less!
Not a big fan of theirs anyways(donuts are horrible), will be encouraging others to not darken their doors either.
I dropped in at a downtown Van Tim’s while waiting for my start time for a job interview some years back and sure enough, the coffee was so terrible – bitter, nasty, stale, don’t give a damn what they grease-pencil on the pots – that I made that the last time. Now they’re trying to promote the hippie-parasite agenda? A friggin’ coffee chain? Retardative!
@yop – key phrase is right there: “competent adult.” Loved the rest of your post too. I do pick up the Georgia Straight – it lines the bottom of my son’s budgie’s cage. Not kidding.
There is nothing Canadian about Tim’s. There donuts are shipped in frozen and thawed for consumption. Owned by foreign interests, who also happen to be part of a huge conglomerate which also has huge stakes in middle east oil.
All you need is a complaint with a scary raghead name attached.
Moral high-ground: Tim’s uses “temporary” foreign workers to serve up its burnt coffee and not-at-all-fresh doughnuts.
so long training coffee, heh. Make mine a grande americano. thx.
Ha-ha. There’s #BoycottTimHortons [contrasted wtih #BoycottTims] already but it’s a leftist site bitching against the Tim’s capitalist exploiters, comrade.
There’s also a survey at the Tim’s site (about your service at a specific Tim’s) that invites comments at its end as well.
Nothing against Tim’s products IMHO but it’s breakfast at McDonald’s for me when I’m on the road if they don’t take this seriously.
Thanks for the contact link. Sent my 4 cents(NDP govt here now. Everything is going up)worth. Any Tim cards I get from any source will now be given to the first homeless person I encounter.
Faisal Moola? Really? Is he all about the money?
I love coffee but don’t go to Tim Ho’s – I drink mine black and Ho’s is bitter unless you add sugar/cream.
I am going to complain though. They will feel the effect of this if the oil patch decides to boycott.
I can’t stand their coffee anyways but this is as dumb as A & W’s idiotic no hormones bullcrap. I won’t set foot in one of them again. The sanctimonious TV ads with that old guy who used to do the ads in a comedic way now talking to people as if he’s some kind of expert in the field of genetic farming is enough to make me puke.
Sent an email to Timmies Corporate, too.
And if you think Kate’s captcha is hard to use, try theirs. Sheesh!
Doing more research, to put a name to the company. Tims, owned by 3G Capital which is attached to Berkshire Hathaway, which in turn is owned by, you guessed it, Warren Buffet. He of the rail lines, and oil stocks. Think of Warren’s face when you get that cup of whatever.
Enbridge or no Enbridge, I still like my Timmy’s.
I’ve got a few cards. I may find 3 original Albertans and take them to Timmy’s. Then buy 2 subs and tell them they have to eat inside and share.
Time to let Burger King know that they are on the hook for this decision.
Well, since they didn’t have a complaints option, I checked ideas/suggestions:
I heard you pulled the Enbridge ads on Tims TV – so here is my idea.
I will never make another purchase at a Tim Horton’s again – after all, I live out in the country and I’m sure that concerned as you are about sustainability, you wouldn’t want me making a 10 mile round-trip into town in my pickup truck just for breakfast. And my suggestion? How about coming up with an ad that shows how truthfully concerned you are about the environment? Tell customers you don’t want them driving to your restaurants. Go ahead – I know you’re not hypocrites.
no tims for me
Starbux is an even worse offender in the corporate PC “everything to everybody” world.
WTF are you talking about?
No more plastic lids for timmys cups please. And would you send out a crew or two to clean up the litter that covers nearly every square inch of urban Canada. Thanks, timmys, didn’t know you cared so much.
Stopped going there 20 years ago plus because of their every white guy is stupid compared to women, children, visible minorities or whoever advertising and the fact the last time I tried to order a soup /sandwich in downtown Calgary no one could understand my plain english. Went elsewhere never to return.
Last loonie tey get out of me until this policy is reversed.
I refuse to support those tht give into eco-nuts.
Saves me @ $20 a week.
Hi Kate;
There’s a poll associated with this Global article that should go horribly right!
http://globalnews.ca/news/2036702/tim-hortons-faces-backlash-after-yanking-enbridge-ads-from-stores/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
There’s also a poll question at the bottom of the Sun report Kate has linked above.
http://www.calgarysun.com/2015/06/04/tim-hortons-pulls-enbridge-ad-sparks-twitter-furor
Timmies just laid off hundreds of long time employees as a surprise after telling them they wouldn’t be. Then the CEO of Timmies makes the plea for special visas for foreign workers to make Timmies efficient. Two more reasons to kick Timmy to the curb for a somewhat longer period than a boycott. Tim Horton died along time ago, it is run by American tax evading carpetbaggers who sell burnt coffee.
I guess they are mad at Enbridge for raising the rates on delivery of their coffee.
That is a not so well known fact. McDonalds makes better coffee.
A little more hypocrisy for you;
” Timmies: Ditch your Enbridge ad campaign or we’ll ditch you.”
From the ‘SumofUs’ website.
The SumofUs spokeswoman,Emma Pullman, who by the way also writes for Huffpo and the Toronto Star, was on CBC’s ‘PnP’ saying that she doesn’t think that today’s boycott of Timmy’s is the right thing to do because Alberta politicians got involved.
Even without that, she doesn’t come across as the hottest pot on the stove.
As a cyclist who rides a lot of rural roads I can confirm that TH’s cups/bags/boxes are #2 in the ditches of Ontario…#1 is empty 500ml beer cans (which would overfloww the ditches if it weren’t for old guys who ride around picking them up for the $.10 return)…#3 is MacDonalds garbage.
That’s it I’m going to boycott Timmies. Oh right I have been boycotting them since they stopped baking the doughnuts on site. Never mind. Carry on.
Burger King, Warren Buffett and BNSF
http://calgary.ctvnews.ca
CTV news has a poll on this.
“Roll out the Dim to Whinge”, try that slogan you morons at Tim Hortons. Yes Mcdonalds has better coffee and if Hortons are stupid enough to cave to Akmed Moola or whatever this 3rd world losers name is then they won’t see my familys cash ever again.
I’ve had one foot out the door since they discontinued blueberry fritters. So I guess this is buh-BYE!
I’d rather lick the inside of a urinal than drink Tim Hortons “coffee”.
They have gone over to the enemy. Won’t be buying anything more from them the hypocrites. Hey Timmy you want the praise of the Wolrd have ir while you go broke.
Sent them my love letter. Suggest they reconsider the importance of Canada’s energy sector and the tens of thousands of participants therein. And until I see a complete reversal of this Enbridge decision, won’t be spending “one more red cent” at Tim Hortons!
I’m so sick of this gutless shite, I can’t speak!!!!!!
Bruce, you forgot Union Tank Car Company. Warren owns that too. Builds the tank cars that BNSF hauls. Think he has a vested interest in being anti-pipeline? Only a little.
Warning about the CTV poll question: it’s backwards asking if you support the boycott not whether you support Tim’s (banning the ad) like the other, straightforward poll questions.
Let’s remember, the media is the prime cheerleader for today’s chic causes, such as, anti-oil sands, anti-family, pro-victimization culture, pro-psychotic (as per the cross-dresser jenner, etc), pro-envirowhacko, anti-common sense.
The news media is our enemy, plain and simple.
We were at a Tim’s in Saskatoon yesterday. I commented to them on the link above that yesterday would be the last time unless they rescinded this asinine decision and stopped catering to the enviro-anarchists.
Here in Woodstock Ontario…. we creatures of “habit”… meet at TIM HORTONS at the Norwich Avenue exit at HWY #401
disregarding the corporate ownership and support the local franchise lessee…..Leslie, F.
WE laugh a lot…… often lie to each other….. and support our elected CONSERVATIVE REPS to both the provincial and Federal Governments at election time.
WE live in the best COUNTRY IN THE WORLD…. CANADA.. and TIM HORTONS locally are strongly community oriented!
I WILL NOT BAD MOUTH TIM HORTONS!
I AM, Joe Molnar
The communications person who made that decision should be very fired when this finally shakes out. While the CBC describes what prompted this as a “petition” by a “group”, all I can find is a couple of offhand tweets by one professional activist with a modest following. It was hardly a popular movement, and the decision by Tim Horton’s was ridiculously precipitate.
