You’d probably be wondering why the NDP is sending out invitations to Notley’s swearing-in that ask you to RSVP your name and email address. And then, after filling out the form — that has pre-checked boxes allowing the party to send you email updates and text messages — you are directed to a page asking you for a donation.
I wouldn’t go to celebrate the election of this bunch of socialist economy-destroying SOB’s at gunpoint,free popsicle or not.
But then,I wasn’t invited.
Maybe I should initiate an HRC complaint for hurt feelings.
I wasn’t invited either – but, mostly, neither were they. 52% of the vote went right wing.. and most of those beyond the usual 20% or so of committed NDPers who voted NDP did so to scorn the PCs.
I have some free predictions on this:
1 – the government is already collecting taxes and fees levied in a budget the house did not vote on. Those taxes will be continued except for the healthcare levy, and nobody in the media will say boo.
2 – no NDP promise on education or healthcare will be honored in the next four years. They will spend more, but it will all go to experts and administrators – thus making all the problems from debt to non performance of critical functions worse.
3 – the wildrose people will self-destruct as soon as they individually feel free to speak.
4 – the PCs will not recover in this cycle despite merging the two right wing parties in about year 2/3 of the debacle.

I take issue with Ms. Notley’s assertion that the socialists have a “clear mandate” to proceed with their policies. 59.4 % of the voters did not vote for the NDP. Good grief!

Let us see what will likely to happen if the raise the price of big mac (a generic term) to pay everyone in the hamburger joint no less than $15 an hour.
Let us work with the idea that people, particularly those with less money, go to fast food places to get a cheap fast food, though “fast” may be somewhat dated.
Raising the cost of help, of necessity will have to reflect in the price of the hamburger. Could the effect be that those that could or wished to pay for the hamburger before will look somewhere else?
Result of which maybe loss of the jobs that paid less than $15 an hour and can’t be afforded by those places to pay $15.

The NDP always portray themselves as the “Party with heart” and the “Party of the downtrodden”, and every other socialist bumper sticker you can think of, so c’mon Premier Notley, hike the welfare rates, so the downtrodden can live a little better.
If you think it’s hard for working people to survive on $10.20/hr., try surviving on $600/month.

Deborah Drever should do herself a huge favour and bow out now, gracefully, and quietly get on with her life out of the spotlight. If she stays, the media will hound her unmercifully and she will be shunned by her fellow MLAs, despised by most of her constituents and held up to ridicule by the world in general. I doubt she’s got the guts to withstand that kind of pressure. I know I wouldn’t.

I wonder if the MSM is taking note. They were on the Deborah Drever issue fairly quickly, and on the “come to the swearing-in and – by the way – contribute to the NDP” issue even quicker. I thought the NDP would have had more of a honeymoon.
Anyone who gives money to politicians who want to gain power and control more of your life and your money … perhaps you have noticed how much more tax you pay now than a couple of decades ago … and how less free you are …. and you are going to give them more of your money … VOLUNTARILY!!!
