Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Honestly, I think most of the Friends of Medicare are with Tommy right now(pushing up daisies). As the poll seems to suggest Saskatchewan residents and probably Canadians, are a bit tired of the big sister knowing what is best style of health care. After all, if they can choose their phone carrier, why not healthcare? This is the age of social media free thinkers… as long as the government picks up the bill of course.
“Should Saskatchewan residents have the option to pay for a private MRI?”
You already do. In Bismarck.
I am an American; so bear with me. May sound dumb to a Kanuck but not a Yank.
50 years ago my all time favorite sports caster (Jim Hely) used to run an ad for a car dealer in Moose Jaw. I think Moose Jaw is in Saskatchewan. Am I close?
I know another dumb yank, eh
Rod’s got it, by jeez.
Is the yes disabled?
You mean you can’t get a private MRI in SK now?
In BC that’s been avaliable for years now. I like knowing that I can order my own MRI and get it done in a few days for a mere $1200 and get all my images in Dicom format. I’ve had very short wait times for MRI’s in past because of being a doctor, but prefer to pay for a private MRI if it’s a non-emergency situation and the primary reason to get one is personal curiosity.
More pollspotting.

Billy needs to understand he screwed the pooch with Pam.
The framing of the question is all you need to know. “Should you actually be allowed to use your own money in questions regarding your personal health?”
We have them in Alberta. But not for long. Notley is going to nationalize them, hand them over to the unions and once again there will be a two year waiting list to use them.
Well…….That’s bound to piss off about 14% of the population. Brad Wall better fret the next election…..
Yeah, Moose Jaw is in Saskatchewan. Do you recall the name of the car dealer??
“Should Saskatchewan residents have the option to pay for a private MRI?”
Translated for clarity – Should Saskatchewan residents have the “Rights and Freedoms” to pay for a private MRI?
It’s now a “priviledge” to be allowed to decide what to do with YOUR money and personal health in Canada.
“Should Saskatchewan residents have the option to pay for a private MRI?”
Should Canadians be watching a TV network that thinks this is a reasonable question to be asking in a supposedly free country?
People, shut off your tv.
The next question will be, “who will be given the licence to build MRI facilities and charge for them?” Yes, you correctly answered that question.
IMHO the issue goes to the heart of the Healthcare debacle, it is the “time” to a correct diagnosis that dictates a good Prognosis.
The existing Public Healthcare practices should be focused on the Prognosis treatment side which follows well known protocols & is easily measured.
The Diagnosis of illness should be supported by ALL the tools available. That choice driven by patients & Doctors and paid for by the Healthcare system. Only second opinion diagnostic tools paid out of pocket. (in Sask what is now a second Opinion)
I have both US (Medicare) and Sask Healthcare. I was fortunate, in March, that I picked the US system to diagnose my Bladder Cancer. It only took 3 weeks from my first Specialist appointment (walk in) and the “Post” surgery (removal of growth) Prognosis. I made all my own Appointments (required by Doctor) for CT scan, Blood work and pre-surgery EKG.. The coordination was all done by the Urologist/Surgeons Office manager. The cancer was NOT high Grade and I am now waiting for my 6 week (3 too go) Cystoscopy checkup to see if I need Chemo.
If I had waited until I returned To Canada I would still be waiting for an appointment with a (The) specialist and then all the tests would have involved the system Management team. The Urologist in Canada, who missed the Growth, used the OR in the General Hospital with 3-4 nurses to do a simple Cystoscopy. Not cheap. It would have been unlikely I would have reached a healthy prognosis within a year
My Urologist here in AZ does the Cystoscopy in his office, himself, without his nurse.
I am not on the SASK waiting list and that moved someone UP!
