This Is Not Your Grandma’s Humane Society

They eat pigs, too.

Dozens of dogs and puppies are getting a new “leash” on life thanks to some international volunteers. The pups are at the San Francisco SPCA after making a long trip from South Korea. The Humane Society International rescued the dogs, 57 in all, from a dog meat farm.

That’s right – humane societies are now “rescuing” dogs from across the Pacific into California’s “crowded shelters”. At the same time, dogs are being “rescued” into Canada out of California’s “crowded shelters”. Remember this the next time you’re lectured about “pet overpopulation”. This isn’t rescue –it’s marketing.

  1. Well Peter Kerai is all for it. He gave 500.00 and says:
‘Dogs have the same level of intelligence as a three year old child’

  2. Which is a couple of years higher than Peter Kerai (who?) apparently. Its an odd form of moral equivalency mental disorder psychosis that thinks nothing of interfering with one foreign culture’s practices while ignoring another culture’s barbaric practices that everybody most sane people abhor. I would have thought Peter and the PETAs would have long since headed to the ME to work alongside the Kurds, Iraqis and Peshmerga to rid that part of the world of more heinous practices. The joy of selective outrage.

  3. As Rabbie Burns once said “Ye Hypocrites, are these yer pranks ta murder Men and gie God Thanks.” These people that are involved in ‘rescuing’ the dogs are the same bunch that spout that all cultures are equal and if anyone says different then they, are the ‘racists’. The ‘rescuers’ are part of the same clan that denounce ‘white’ privilege and colonialization. That the white race should be ashamed of the cruel history that we have inflicted upon the other cultures of the world over the last two millenia. Yet these ‘rescuers’ have the temerity to ‘save’ these dogs and then ‘market’ them for the ego boost that it gives them in saying to their friends “We saved them from a dog market in Korea.” Yes, Hypocrites all. I’m putting this right up there with Katsmeat and the rest of the social-democrats in this ‘white-privileged’ society!!!!

  4. Although I find the notion of somebody butchering my companion and buddy for meat revolting……I realize this is largely a result of imprinting to that individual canine.
I know some folk who have pigs as pets but I am indifferent to the fate of millions of swine on farms throughout this continent…..and doesn’t turn me off bacon.
Reports of cannibalism among survivors of plane crashes in remote areas do not inspire anguish amongst us, because they are strangers and the event was distant.
    These Korean dogs are strangers……
    Tain’t right, tain’t wrong…just is….

  5. I saw pups being sold in open-air markets in South Korea. Obviously not legitimate sales.
Furthermore, the idea that Koreans all eat dog meat is not wholly true. Many Koreans are pet owners and are horrified at the thought of eating man’s best friend. There are dogs raised for meat but only men eat them because it is some sort of machismo thing.

  6. It’s a feel good story that does nothing to cheer me up. We can’t change the world or customs of other nationalities that see dog meat as just another staple. I would rather see the money and effort spent in North America than in countries we have no control over. We have enough problems with abandoned animals without leaving our own shores. We will never get that under complete control but it’s a better quest than rescuing a few dogs out of millions.

  7. I don’t suppose these canine refugees are put through any type of Quarantine??
Some pretty wicked parasites found in third world countries.
Coming to a schoolyard, beach near you…….

  8. Was not that long ago that the US and Canada quarantined all incoming criters….including the 2 legged variety.

  9. Funny … I thought that the LEFTISTS running the SF SPCA also professed a core belief of “moral equivalency” ? The LEFT continuously lectures us that OUR culture is NOT superior to any other culture on the planet. In fact, the more PRIMITIVE the culture … the more NON-Christian the culture … the BETTER. Therefore, these LEFTISTS should be CELEBRATING the Korean culture that traditionally eat dog. They should be studiously leaving the Korean dog-eaters ALONE !

  10. I can arrange some freshly hatched chicks for “rescue” pretty quick, if anyone is interested. There’s any number of rabbits around here that could be trapped for “rescue” too.
And I’m sure some of the farmers around here would be happy to send animals to the USA for “rescue” at very reasonable rates.
Rescuers to arrange shipping and border crossing, of course.

  11. Mark Twain once offered a pointed definition
of a gold mine along these lines.
“A gold mine is a hole in the ground with a liar close by.”
As for Korean/Chinese dog consumption, what is often left unsaid
is that the cruel methods often used to butcher the animals are to
the customer’s preference, and are neither quick nor painless.

  12. They’ll need to be inspected by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The dogs did come from a Korean food farm. They aren’t pets per se, they are food stock and the import license needs to reflect that.
I’m thinking they might have trouble getting such an import licence.

  13. So now they are stealing the food right out of the poor peoples back yard.
    How Low can they go?
This is smart, as smart as calling your organization; People Eating tasty Animals.
This is beyond hypocrisy, this is straight out assault on the asian culture, white supremacists have a new home?
Never mind their talking points, by their actions you will know them.
