Dianne Feinstein’s husband wins California ‘high speed rail’ contract: Those paying attention to the project call it the “half-fast” rail line because it will share trackage with conventional commuter rail trains in the sprawling Los Angeles and San Francisco areas, lowering its average speed to levels achieved by American railways a century ago.

Yeah well, Alaska has a bridge to nowhere……California is building a railway to no where……both are pointless wastes of resources.
Nothing yet about green energy to power this thing? They will have to cover the entire state with solar panels, let the (sweetheart contract) bidding begin. Will the last sane person leaving California please blow out the candle.
My once great state can’t die fast enough.
You fools elected fools. Enjoy the train ride to No-where.
Well Pelosi got the island in the bay, DF has the rail, what does Boxer get?…Remember it was the Clintons that trashed Air force one by stealing everything that wasn’t attached by a rivet
Obama thinks the WH and everything in it are HIS to dispose as he wishes…Burn it down would make a point!
California is the septic tank where all progressive ideas ferment into a uniform finish product – statist sludge.
It makes complete sense to me.
The last thing you do before declaring bankruptcy is maximize your debt.
New join venture of Britain and Europe with china for infrastructure called AIIB. Asia infrustructure bank has so many asian country and europen country joining. I am not quit understand why US and japan do not like world bank opac or other gathering. I think china has billion cheap wage labor and money to lend and use and europe has lots of designer artistt archticture and ideas to. Rebuilt old city to more moden city. So if we have world peace money made for gun can use to built bettter city apartment but before that example of city of toronto road asphalt leftt too many holes on road and swer metal gear to tires proof they are not use right asphalt materials and not inspected properly and government business vs. Private business can really give people better home energy bridge road to built who or how pay all cost how many engineer scientist review. Short and long term problem solving as right project. Can chineese able deliver. Quality of job too.
Haliburton !
Haliburton !!
Haliburton !!!!!!!!!!!
Wha, what’s that ? It’s NOT Haliburton stuffing taxpayer dollars into their pockets ? Oh … well then … no problem … all is well.
The Chattanoga Choo Choo the A Train GREAT SONGS THE CITY OF NEW ORLEANS But now comes THE PORK TRAIN and like AMTRACK its heading for a big time derailment and at tax payers expense
Isn’t the Tesla guy planning a people mover from San Fran to LA. Who would need a train?
is that “train” for transport to the “camps”?
as Arnie says, “Get to de choppa!”
Back in the 1920’s & 1930’s, passenger trains in the US Northeast regularly ran at speeds of over 100 MPH. The misguided efforts of these “high speed rail” proponents wouldn’t even equal what was done a century ago, let alone providing an improvement in services which were lost because highways receive federal subsidies, while railroads must make their own way.
The only way to accomplish true “high speed rail” is the model used in Japan and Europe – government backed improvement to the rail system, with dedicated trackage rights for fast trains and grade-separated (almost no highway crossings) right-of-way.
Hi speed rail = you tax serfs pay the freight with forever subsidies as these scams will never come close to paying their own ways. Nor will it unclog the roads so you will have a faster commute. If it doesn’t go where I want to go when I want to go there it’s useless to me. We’re looking at a so-called ‘privately financed hi speed rail deal here in TX as I write. We know it will not be a traditional private enterprise deal, it will seek and possibly gain govt/tax serf provided bennies when the money invested proves insufficient. Tax free financing with taxpayer subsidies and eminent domain spring to mind.
Aye even later than that.
I recall putting kin on the New York Central in St Thomas for an overnight run to NYC.
Seemed every month er so some sorry soul would get hit by that high speed line. They reputedly went over 100mph…….
Just east of Tilsonburg there was a flume(about a mile long) between the rails enabling the engines (scoop under the tender) to take on water on the fly…..
Now that line is just a break in the trees.
