Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Its my opinion that regardless of what was said in the -private- Facebook discussion, the Dalhousie decision to persecute those students was ghastly and should be punished in a court of law. Because it was a private disscussion. Private means private.
It won’t be punished, of course. Because = politics.
Which proves yet again that Canadians don’t have rights. What we have is the concealment of obscurity. Whenever one of us falls under the Eye of Sauron bad things happen.

–Bad News
I agree. What is said in private should not be of interest to the public. The only one who should be prosecuted is the snitch.
Over at the link, the poll is indicative of the vengeful mode of the mob, over 30% figure the U-D should have expelled the dental students.
Probably the same people that cry for justice for Little Omar and his like.
That’s the 30% that haven’t progressed philosophically beyond Kindergarten.
Bang on, Phantom. I couldn’t agree more.
And even if the discussion was not private, expulsion is too extreme.
I wonder if they didn’t see the possible legal ramifications of expulsion. The kids would sue for tuition paid heretofore, housing heretofore, and pain/suffering/general damages since there’s no way the university could prove that this either endangered other students, was against some alleged code of conduct (private message board) or anything of the sort. Millions down the tubes.
And if there’s anything universities care about, it’s cash.
Sorry, but teachers and professional engineers suffer similar penalties for doing stupid things on their own time, even private things, should those private things ever become public. (I assume also accountants and so on, but those are the two I know most about). What these students did was stupid. Expulsion would be an overreaction, but it would be entirely within the realm of what the university and/or the college of dentists is entitled to do. If the Gentlemen were a bunch of history or business majors, you’d have a valid point, but they were studying to be licensed professionals. There are responsibilities that go along with that.
