A new name added to the Dead Pool;
Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi made an extraordinary speech on New Year’s Day to Cairo’s Al-Azhar and the Awqaf Ministry calling for a long overdue virtual ecclesiastical revolution in Islam. This is something no Western leader has the had the courage to do, certainly not Barack Obama, despite his Muslim education.
Accusing the umma (world Islamic population) of encouraging the hostility of the entire world, al-Sisi’s speech is so dramatic and essentially revolutionary it brings to mind Khrushchev’s famous speech exposing Stalin. Many have called for a reformation of Islam, but for the leader of the largest Arab nation to do so has world-changing implications.

Cripes, he’d be arrested and deported if he ever landed in Heathrow or O’Hara.
Jamie, no doubt. Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is definitely going against the multi-culti crap we are being force fed by the leftists in our political class and media.
Seems like he has his head on his shoulders, and telling it like it is, unlike most of our MB sycophant leaders in he west.
Kate is right, al-Sisi had better watch his back real good, even from some of…
Big cojones.
I’d be interested in hearing a coherent multi-culti argument against his position.
This guy is going to get it worse than Rushdie. How many fatwas have already been issued?
Kate’s inadvertent oxymoron of the week:
“Muslim Education”
“…no Western leader has the had the courage to do, certainly not Barack Obama, despite his Muslim education.”
In his case, because of his Muslim education. The essence of Muslim education is to indoctrinate the student to obey the teacher. Mohammed’s message boils down to “Never mind what anyone else ever tells you or told you, whatever I am telling you now is a command from God.”
Islamic reformation to something more acceptable is a practical impossibility.
1) the Ummah is for the most part illiterate…like Mohammed (piss be upon him)…
2) Islamic scholars in the first centuries, fine tuned Islam, to prevent any reformation/modification on pain of death.
The result is that the SIsi’s…Rushdie’s are automatically heretics and outlaws….beyond appeal. Or any who shelter or support them.
President Anawar Sadat of Egypt comes immediately to mind. This courageous Leader placed his life on the line to establish diplomatic relations with Israel. It did so.
Hopefully, as Kate said he has his back and as in the case of Sadat his ceremonial front covered.
