All illustrated in magnificent detail;
A wind turbine project life cycle consists of the following 13 phases:
Engineering,
Procurement,
Fabrication,
Manufacturing,
Construction,
Assembly,
Installation ,
Erection,
Commissioning,
Handover to Operation;
operation,
maintenance;
Disposal.
All the 13 phases would be absolutely impossible to achieve without burning fuel. Fuel used for making of materials, transportations, movement of personnel working on the job, lighting of offices etc. The wind turbine projects have high FUEL COST; & high Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) cost.
In return for al above wind turbine as a device for Electric Power Generation has love availability; reliability; maintainability as defined in IEC 50 (191).
Bookmark this one, and send to every politician on your list. Check out the main page, too. (Just a heads up – he doesn’t like capitalism very much).

I am both disgusted and maddened by an agendized media that will not give any balance in their coverage of supposed green energy.
These technologies, including solar, are NOT EVEN CLOSE to being able to replace fossil fuels, hydro or nuclear and they should not portray them as such.
Like the god awful Prius, you analyze the entire life cycle and “green” is only an illusion pushed by marketers.
Our sustainability department at the office claims these things at zero greenhouse gas emissions when they are doing their institutional reporting. I questioned it one day and got the typical rebuff. I work in higher ed, that makes me double the trouble maker that I normally would be.
“al above”, “love availability”
You/he/whoever meant “all” and “low”, right? Otherwise, you might want to wait on sending it out to politicians, etc.
I don’t think English is his first langauge. German, maybe.
Oh, a German socialist. The best kind *rollseyes*
The MSM is almost universally innumerate.
I have been yapping about this since they started with the so called green idiocy associated with wind turbines and solar panels. stupid people will fall for any con.
“Captitalism” is a Marxist term. It is convenient for socialists to use because the actual thing they dislike, a Free Market, does not carry the same baggage. Better to note that “he doesn’t like freedom” than “he doesn’t like capitalism”. Adam Smith never used the term “Capitalism”. It was brought into wide spread usage by the Soviets to describe Western industry.
I would say that the offshore turbines could be used as fishing platforms in the future or maybe even now.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’ll believe wind turbines are a viable source of grid electricity when all the electrical power required by a wind turbine manufacturing facility comes from actual wind turbines — not this “green energy” shell game played drawing power from the grid derived predominantly from fossil fuels.
the carbon tax is built into the price. the price of plastics , the price of sintering the limestone to make cement , the price of transportation . always has been ,
its the subsidies that warp the economics.
I had a lively discussion with a wind farm advocate who said the wind power would not use petroleum in any way shape or form.
I told him about manufacture, shipping via rail and truck, assembly, erecting and everything from the coverings of the wires carrying electricity to the fuel to lift a cherry picker up just to wash the wind mill.
They remain unconvinced, I then said well what about the bearings?
They said, oh they are nylon and are green.
Will never need petroleum grease.
I said Nylon?
Nylon cannot be burned because of releasing toxic cyanide gas without expensive methods to prevent the release and since they cannot they end up filling landfills and slowly over thousands of years decaying.
Beside which, to make nylon you must use Coal.
Remember Coal?
Shut them up right fast.
I wouldn’t mind paying a carbon tax on my carbon dioxide emissions as long as they gave me a (X2) oxygen rebate.
The final budgeted (at the beginning) last phase is called restoration – no not that kind.
It is the work expense required to bring the property back as close as feasible to its
original pristine state before the rent seekers touched it.
Exactly right. These greenwashed projects should be subject to the same environmental and reclamation standards mines and drill-sites have to follow.
The problem debating things like CO2 emissions with wind energy enthusiasts, is that one side sees it as a religion, while the other treats it as a science based, physical relationship.
Ont Society of Engineers published a study some years ago stating that far from reducing Co2 output, IWTs would actually increase emissions in the long term, assuming the current FIT tariffs.
This has to do with the amount of gas fired backup required once nuclear generation is cut back to accomodate wind output.
Steve Paiken on TVO The Agenda shook his head in disbelief when appraised of this, but the Engineer telling him was quite credible.
The segment may still be viewed at The Agenda site.
