In BC we have all of that AND mountains, trees, the ocean…
Yeah well, there is some ground that is flat as **** on a plate but for example the Trans-Canada swiftly changes to less boring west of Regina….hills, valleys, rivers….places like Ernfold Sask. come to mind….
Ontarible is pretty flat (and boring) from Windsor east to Duttin…..
you don’t get a four layered sky with different types of clouds at every level.
Now put some mountains in there and you’d have something.
I don’t know, after living in Winnipeg for 46 years, I moved to the Okanagan. You could NOT drag me back with a team of Clydesdales…yes prairie sunsets are spectacular…on a flat, boring horizon…Every time you drive thru the Okanagan, you see something new in the mountains; whether it’s the sun catching a rock-face at a different angle, or a mountain goat staring down at you as you motor by…you can actually see the other side of the lakes here….they don’t just blend into the flat, boring horizon….did I mention there’s no mosquitos?????

I was guiding for deer on the north side of Lac des Isles,SK a few years ago, the sunrises were extremely beautiful. I was lucky enough to snap a few shots at the right moments.
I love Alberta but I have never witnessed better skies than in Saskatchewan, and north of Saskatoon has a lot of must see areas.
Every geographic area of Canada is unique; a veritable cornucopia of wonder and beauty.
Cdn’s have it relatively easy; we should endeavour not to take that lightly.

It is all CANADA, and I say it is damned impressive.
That lake in Europe, you would be tripping over people, trash evrywhere and signs telling you what you cannot do.

That’s really beautiful! I am originally from the Midwest (US), and the beauty of flat terrain is it makes the sky so spectacular. People who fly over “flyover” country really don’t know what they’re missing!

For those who have not been there, the terrain is anything but flat.

I wish people would shut up about this place. There are already way too many of us.
In my opinion a lot of the “flat Saskatchewan” comments are made by people that have only seen the province from one of the major highways. It needs to be pointed out that the routing for highways is based on finding the flattest, thus, cheapest route. I live just a few miles off the #1, and there are some very impressive views that we keep secret.

Beautiful sky/water-scape. You get a big sky in the fens in England but not as impressive as this.
The comments about flatness remind me of a quote from Graham Swift’s “Waterland” about why God made the fens so flat – “the better to see man’s wickedness” 😉
