  1. Burnt birds and wasted money – for what? Leftists need to be reminded that the most optimistic estimate of effects of
“green” energy programs are minimal and realized only over a long period of time.

  2. The six to one ratio for operating costs should astound anyone with more reasoning ability than a garden vegetable. No commercial enterprise survives with that ratio, so logic should lead to the question of where the money is coming from.
Personally, I’m outraged my tax dollars are being used to blind pilots and zap birds. Maybe we need to dangle a few political figures on the towers right after sunset. I think their willingness to continue funding these green energy money pits would end before the sun came even close to rising.

  3. Any asshole with 1/2 of a thinking brain mechanism could tell you that,
wind, & solar are BULLSHIT as compared to HYDRO (water) powered generators of electricity.
NUCLEAR is the biggy but has inherent risk involved but in the long haul is probably the cheapest and most reliABLE SOURCE of electrical production on this plane of human existence!
And I AM here to explain it for….. ALL !
    Kapish???

    TAKE HEED!

  4. Speaking of bullshit, where is the biggest spreader of the stuff, Fat Al Gore, did he run out of gas since he granted Wynne an audience and sang her praises?
BTW,PM Harper has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, if awarded it he should turn it down on principle, after it was awarded to Arafat and Gore it’s less value than a Cracker Jack prize…..on the other hand, if he does win and accepts it could again become meaningful.

  5. All subsidy farmers should be strapped to their particular means of raising subsidies. Green is a religion and fraud.

  6. Exactly, and the public’s perception of this will not change until enough of the media tells it that this is a massive political and monetary fraud. That this solar plant can get away with this speaks volumes about the complicity of the media and the corruption of the politicians.

  7. 375,000 mirrors? I need a Herc with a big bin of ball bearings and a chute to direct them out the ramp. Over 2 million years of bad luck coming up!
I think that it will take millions of people being shocked by their electricity bills before the depth of the eco-fraud is realized.

  8. They need to add windmills to the solar power tower. Kind of like George Foreman grill meets the K-Tel Veg-a-Matic. “It slices, it dices, it even fricasees!”

  9. The Nobel Prize committee is more likely to award the prize to Hitler, posthumously, than to Stephen Harper.
The Left-wing organization that awarded the prize to Obama before he even officially took Office will never give it to a perceived Right wing politician.
They MIGHT give it to Justin Trudeau though, just to increase his chances of winning.

  10. Another huge white elephant rent seeking fraud and taxpayer rip-
off courtesy of the one and the only Senator “Punchy” N. Senile?

  11. This is the reason solar thermal and photo-voltaic plants
are a joke! The energy can be generated only so long as
the sun is shining and there are no clouds to obstruct
the sun. This is so basic Forest Gump would have no
    problem with the concept.
Dr. Dixie Lee Ray once wrote that to provide enough solar
power to provide the energy necessary to power New York
city would provide an array larger than the city itself.
The problem with solar power is that it follows the law
    of inverse squares.
It gets better. Peak power is far less than 12 hours a
day. Add overcast days and you end up with a source of
energy that is only good for 4 hours a day. It is for
this reason that coal plants need to be running to take
    up the slack.
That and the fact that you cannot practically store the
power and you are left with a tree-hugger pipe dream
that puts solar power on par with unicorn farts as
    a viable form of energy!
Only a complete moron could believe in this hoax.

  12. The places where PV solar works very well and saves operators money, are beyond the comprehension of those people who don’t want their preconceived notions countered by facts. It’s best they just live in their fantasy world and name-call anyone who disagrees with them, just like the greenies do.

  13. PV solar works very well in certain niches. Solar garden lights? I got ’em, and some work fine, and some crap out early. But they were cheap, eh? Solar for telemetry on remote oilpatch installations? See it all the time. It works fine, and saves the operators a bundle of money over other ways of supplying the modest power needs.
Solar for base load power on the grid? Not.A.Hope.In.Hell. of it ever paying for itself, if it has to compete on a level field with real sources of energy.

  14. Solar for base load power on the grid? Not.A.Hope.In.Hell. of it ever paying for itself, if it has to compete on a level field with real sources of energy.
Exactly… that’s not where PV should be used, except in the sun belt where it automatically synchronizes with air-conditioning load.
Meanwhile, individual houses in Alberta are getting enough revenue from grid connected PV to pay back the system cost in about six years with no subsidies. Alberta’s fair and sensible net metering system is not like Ontario’s foolishness under the Lieberals.

  15. 6 years payback… Err what kind of $/kwh subsidy is that, and how much more that grid poer is that.
