The Sound Of Settled Science

Although the underlying technical material in the IPCC’s fifth major report was widely agreed upon and published intact, “heated negotiations among scientific authors and diplomats led to substantial deletion of figures and text from the influential ‘Summary for Policy-makers,'” writes Brad Wible, an editor at the journal Science […]
A chart removed from the IPCC summary but published in Science shows that much of the growth in recent greenhouse gas emissions comes from Asia, with smaller contributions from the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Emissions in developed countries have continued to rise, but at a much slower rate.

In other words, business as usual.

  1. The UN is a failed bureaucracy, time to bury the cockroaches.
GHG has the equivent Climate significance that an Anthill has on the Mass of the Rocky Mountains. Gibberish nonsense

  2. “…a failed bureacracy, …”?
I suppose that depends on what you expect the UN to do. I think that for the most of the bureaucrats who work at the UN it is doing just what they want it to do for them and by their lights it is a very great success.

  3. One commenter to the article sums it all up well.

“Wible notes there is “some fear that this redaction of content marks an overstepping of political interests….
Goodness gracious! dipolomats might be involved in Politics!
Of course the IPCC report has been tainted by politics. Every %^%$# one of the reports was tainted beyond belief. Didn’t anyone read the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) and its appointment of the IntergovernmentalPanel on Climate Change? The whole pupose of both organizations was to establish pausibly how climate change is caused by human activties, not whether there is human-caused global warming and climate change. That has been assumed as proven from the beginning.
The whole program has been a political farce from the beginning with the goal of placing more political and economic power in the hands of the United Nations. That is the sole and only basic goal of the process.’

  4. Seems to me that Methane and water vapour are significantly more capable greenhouse gases by a large measure. But of course we can’t attribute those gases to human acitivity now can we…ergo the use of CO2 – that evil noxious gas.
Nothing But pure unmitigated progressive leftist BS.
The IPCC’s forcast of doom and gloom is nothing short of fear mongering for those that would profit greatly from increased carbon taxes and other dubious schemes.
As for the UN..a Joke..nothing more. When Libya is chair of the Human Rigts council, it constitutes a colossal waste of Western Civilized Nations’ money.

  5. “…Methane and water vapour are significantly more capable greenhouse gases by a large measure. But of course we can’t attribute those gases to human acitivity now …”
Patience. One thing at a time. After we have dealt with your carbon footprint we can move on to methane from all the cattle raised to feed you evil meateaters and then the steam polllution from your excessive, indulgent use of hot water – showering, laundry, etc.

  6. Just out of curiosity, how much methane is produced daily by rotting vegetation in the form of swamp gas? I have heard of lakes exploding (Tunguska event/Lake Baikal)and several years ago saw a PBS documentary where they talked about huge reservoirs of methane lying undisturbed off the Oregon coast which could cause a similar event. Then there is this recent article.
Are cow farts really all that significant in the overall production of methane? Somehow, I doubt it.
