The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education announced a major litigation effort Tuesday against universities that maintain clearly illegal speech codes.
With help from the law firm of Davis Wright Tremaine, FIRE is suing several universities that manifestly and unconstitutionally deprive their students of First Amendment rights.
“Universities’ stubborn refusal to relinquish their speech codes must not be tolerated,” said FIRE President Greg Lukianoff during a press conference.
For now, suits have been filed against Ohio University, Iowa State University, Chicago State University, and Citrus College in California. These universities have all trampled students’ free speech rights, according to FIRE.
Lukianoff explained that FIRE would not hesitate to expand the suits until all universities abandon their speech codes, which were ruled unconstitutional decades ago but have endured at more than 50 percent of colleges, according to the foundation’s research.
Start de-funding universities, both private and public. That should remove some of the chaff.
Good luck with that, as the universities are and have been the main culprits today in churning good little PC double speak Marxists and have been for decades. Much of the legal system is tainted with this.

Huh,not sure how it works in the States, but does not privately funded mean through donations from companies and alumni? How do you de-fund those? It’s a great idea,just curious.

When I see spontaneous, ground level movements focus and strike out effectively, on the offence, against institutionalized anti freedom, I feel there is yet hope. Campus’ are the right place to start
We need more litigious movements like FIRE – sue these fascist PC trogs back into the stone age where they came from. There should be more personal lawfare against the freedom haters as well. If you are damaged by PC oppression (remember they reflexively engage in slander/libel) – sue, filing claim with a fee schedule for damage is cheap.
These guys and Gavin Brody are two examples of lawyers doing something worthwhile.

Private donors have been known to withdraw support, as they should. If their alma maters were once places of real learning, they should be shocked to see what dens of hatred and ignorance they are now.
Money is what these liberal thugs understand, not reason or compassion. Tell a tenured professor he can teach anti-Israel hatred but at the fraction of his salary, I’m pretty sure things will change.

The (or any) focus on Academic malfeasance, when they all need a bailout to cover investment loss in their retirement trusts will have results. Their margins will be challenged. I.E.
