  1. Technically, of course, they are correct, insofar that fascism was a response to capitalism, as was communism. Therefore, capitalism is at the root of most government-induced evils in the world.

  2. Yeah well, the first comment on that link, illustrates the success the Bolsheviks have had since the start of Operation Barbarossa, in labeling National Socialism as right wing….hence the enemy of communism/socialism.
By empirical analysis, Nazi’s, Italian fascists and Russian Bolsheviks were merely different flavours of socialism. The results were identical….any notion that Nazi’s were right wing is silly sophistry.
The is a very strong case to the effect that Stalin and the Russian Communists were fascists, in principle and practice. There is only a difference in name between concentration camps and Gulags.
In the 30’s it was the Red shirts VS the Brown/black shirts, all anti-monarchists/capitalists….and a turf war.

  3. The cut and paste, if this is possible and includes my typos, below; is what I posted at David Thompson.
The net effect of all centralizing force in civilizations is the eventual control of the economy, therefore ability to exist in a wage based society, into a smaller group of decision makers. This is true of capitalism as it is of all the other (ism).
The real and only possible exception is a nation which recognizes the people (General Population) is the final arbiter. This is very difficult unless the concept of Law, both common law and tort) is the rule even when arcane or as will happen , unjust in a particular circumstance. With a base of Law and a guiding principal such as a Constitution this is possible until the people are bought of by brokerage politics.
There is one nation, a broad demographical based country, which just may avoid the sellout to a diminishing number of people actually at the centre of the consolidating forces of civilization. This is, as being stated by a Canadian, The United States of America. Cheers

  4. Political ideologies have been twisted about like Gumby to the point where they can mean anything one wants. Communists use fascism and capitalism interchangeably. Parties call themselves conservative when they’re not. Nation call themselves communist when they’re not. The was Hitler a socialist or a fascist is a common example – one can argue either way at length. He was an malevolent, totalitarian collectivist, of that there is no doubt. The rest is just noise IMHO.
Capitalism is a Marxian construct anyway and it should come as no surprise that Marxists “think” the root cause of fascism is capitalism, given they’re the same thing to them.
No, we have free economies or command economies. The true debate is not one or the other, but the optimal mix. Experience has overwhelmingly shown limited government “capitalistic” economies enjoy greater freedom and prosperity than their controlling cousins.
The Marxists blame the Capitalists for every misery everywhere while absolving themselves of sin and ignoring the obvious economic truths, so their conclusions are no surprise.

  5. yes always interesting that the National Socialist party which nationalized the railroads, the steel and the arms industry are somehow branded right wing.

  6. It has been my understanding for some time that capitalism is the normal state of human affairs, and as such did not even have a name until Marx came along with his social theory.

  7. The root cause of fascism is the existence of groups of people who think they know better than you how you should live your life and are willing to compel you to do as they say.

  8. Well said Mike.
Many of you will recall the story I have told of when in the late 1950s a student teacher friend and a much later (1981) future teacher step brother had communists in their educational classes, one at McMaster U, the other at U of S. That this Marxism would take root and spread throughout the educational system is now very apparent. Society slept.

  9. Say rather our society was drugged with a date rape concoction.
Deceived by misguided language with a MSM in love with a theory that killed mega millions. Academics who live the same existence under the tenure sytem.
Than we allowed a political elite to develop by letting the politicians use our tax money to create kingdoms without actually working with minions a plenty.
Unions taking over our bureaucracies have rotted any real public service & let these politically driven Marxists to the fore, in step with this new Political class of tax suckers.
Now they think to own us all.

  10. Forget the politics this is how delusional education has become , along with a Political structure that reeks of insanity. This is the future these so called genius of socialism has crated. Its pure moon beams of only the kind the insane can see.
CA Bill Demands Verbal or Written Consent for slumping on College Campuses
A newly amended bill from a California lawmaker would require college students to stop in the heat of passion and establish verbal or written consent before having sex anywhere on campus, reports L.A. Weekly.

A newly amended bill from a California lawmaker would require college students to stop in the heat of passion and establish verbal or written consent before having intimacy (frankly I’m getting sick of being thrown in the dumpster over an article about relationships because one word is offensive.) anywhere on campus, reports L.A. Weekly.

  12. Thats OK, as a capitalist I vow to fight the root cause of student union socialist activivism by not ever hiring anyone with experience in a student union listed on their resume.

  13. They don’t have capitalism in North Korea (save the black market where cell phones and rice can be purchased- those wicked starving people!).
Why don’t those guys move there?

  14. Bang on Chris but I think you should add anyone with a “social justice” education to that list.

  15. Let them eat their brand of social Justice when they have no jobs because of their delirium
As employers use the internet for back ground checks these Student Union people have no idea the Web is as close as forever when it comes to what they do or say.
Only a hand full will have a job from nepotism . The rest can drown in the “diversity with Marx lies.
They have already soiled themselves from a legacy of socialism , their names are there for all to see.

  16. “was Hitler a socialist or a fascist is a common example”
Hitler copied fascism directly from Mussolini, who invented it.
Mussolini was a socialist who wanted the Italian people to have their own nationalist the idea of ‘socialism’ so he called his brand of socialism Fascism after the Roman symbol of Law and Unity the Fasces.
    Fascism is socialism.
Fascism isn’t the International Communist brand of socialism, it is socialism with a patriotic nationalist focus to it.

  17. Exactly, the 1940s fascists discovered, as did the 1920s Russian Mensheviks Party, the Left and right Socialist Revolutionary Party, and sundry other Russian socialist parties, that after the capitalists were dealt with the more radical communists turned on the other socialist parties.
Mussolini was a communist before he was a fascist. Same policies different uniforms. Fascism was more nationalist in nature, while communism is international in nature.
