We Don’t Need No Stinking Giant Fans

Ireland;

Energy suppliers paid up to €10m last year to wind-farm operators to power down, freedom of information documents supplied to the Sunday Independent reveal.
[…]
[T]hat cost looks set to soar as the power-down rate of 3 per cent for 2013 is estimated to rise to 10 per cent in 2014, according to EirGrid, suggesting a cost to conventional energy companies of over €30m and a knock-on cost to consumer energy bills. An EirGrid graph on wind curtailments shows them rising 50 per cent further by 2016, which would cost utility companies €40m.

  1. “The cost of broken or shut-off wind turbines was up to €10m in 2013 and COULD be passed on to Irish consumers in their electricity bills,”
    Could??? Could??? Yeah.Like they say,ignorance is teachable,stupid is forever.The stupid,it burns.

  2. Hold on a minute. It says:
“The cost of broken or shut-off wind turbines was up to €10m in 2013”
Does that mean that if you don’t maintain your turbine and it stops working you still get paid? If so, seeing as there are costs involved in keeping these things going (scraping eagles off the blades etc.) wouldn’t you increase your profits by, literally, throwing a spanner in the works?

  3. We have Wynnemills in Ontario. More and more being erected as we pay higher and higher electricity bills, some will surely put people out of their homes and/or alter their quality of life. The Wacko Green mad Liberals will not listen, Wynne is continuing on with McGuinty’s legacy when he left the province in shambles as the turbines whump and thump….

  4. Meanwhile back in Ontarislabovia, the energy consumer subsidizes the massive debt crater Dalton’s Korean windfall wind farm has created in energy grid economics.
Given the latest revelations about the Chicom green energy cabal the BLM and treacherous Dem profiteers in Utah and other western states, I’m more convinced than ever the deeper we dig into the Ontario wind farm project the more corruption/cronyism we will find.

  5. ACCAM
One doesn’t have to dig too deeply, right at the top is Michael Crawley former President of the Ont and Canada Liberal Parties, crony of Dalton McGuinty and wind company executive.

  6. Ontario’s as yet unelected Premier McWynnty is running about mouthing off she’s all for the “Middle class” a la Trudeau…guessing this is the latest the Liberals at all levels think is their best shot at power. It should work well, laced with promises that turn to lies along with the zero liability voter support to put the province of the charts in debt. As the Wynnemills turn Ontario dies along with the birds they’re slicing.

  7. This thread prompted me to google – “The Renewable Energy Disaster”…just see if anyone had something of value up on the web…I got more than I bargained for…some excellent links that for the past 4 hours I have been playing hookey at work and reading.
Of great note is an awesome study available through that site and as a downloadable pdf is from a Navy Officer that wrote an 86 page document titled: 21st Century SNAKE OIL….all about the Bio-Fuel SCAM. Simply excellent and easily readable for anyone with grade 10 science understanding.
As well the Forbes article on how Germany is diving head first into total insanity with closing of 8 Nukes (more closures to come), while building ignite powered coal plants and at the same time paying wind producers not to produce.
Ah yes that wonderful Green Lobby…there to enrich themselves and their buddies on bogus BS.
Cheers from a SAGD Site in the Sands
