  1. Reading the posts below the article it is depressing to see how many true beliebers there are out there.

  2. Oh, I dunno.  Low-information voters have always been with us.  It takes hard work and commitment to think about public policy problems, and most people aren’t willing to go beyond the sloganeering.

  3. This guy’s job is designing and building “green” architecture and “energy” systems. Propaganda is good for business, eh?
Were it me, I’d have told him to push off. But then I don’t work for a bent radio station with a Lefty bias. They have different priorities.

  4. “If there was a programme about the holocaust, would we give equal time to holocaust deniers?”
    🙁

  5. The difference between the Holocaust and manmade global warming is a documented death toll of six million on the one hand and ummm, zero on the other. Other than that they’re exactly identical.

  6. Duncan Stewart is a perfect example of the underlying motives of most climate change personnel ….. it is all about politics and the politics is socialism , if not communism. They wanting to control things .
Duncan Stewart says he wants to make Irish villages self sustaining in food production and energy production …. he should just go and do it …. show us how it is done … the world will give him all the media attention he covets.
But no …. he wants to enter politics …. then try to convince the European union to fund his dreams for the little Irish villages. Make everybody else pay for it . Typical
Duncan Stewart must take the political route because he knows darn well the only way a small village could be self sustaining is to go back to farming with horses and cooking over peat fires
And that is not as sexy as having the European Union buy his little village a million dollars worth of solar panels and windmills

  7. We should expect a lot more this. Cognitive dissonance causes mental stress and as the dissonance gap increases, so does the mental stress and illness.
The enviros went all in with Global Warming. They figured they had the killer app, they had a large infusion of new socialist blood and money after the collapse of the Soviet Union and their organizational, marketing and fund raising abilities had matured and become highly professional. Perhaps a bigger factor that fired them up was a new cohort of Gen Whatevers had emerged from the education system that the enviros had successfully infiltrated and used to warp the minds of students everywhere.
Global Warming was the perfect meme. Evil western societies knowingly sacrificing our children’s future for short term profits. It was the perfect timing with the planet entering into its normal 30ish year temperature up-tick, a historically cyclical pattern that the Greenies portrayed as being the start of a a continuous, linear increase that would cook our goose. They used good old fashioned hysteria and fear mongering to create awareness, just a repeat of the old “Falling Sky” or The Boy Who Cried Wolf” parables.
Not working out as they planned and hoped.
Their huge personal and institutional investment is failing.
Very hard to accept the reality that data imposes on their dreams and desires.
Results in stretching their cognitive dissonance until it snaps.
    Good summary here:
“The origins of warmism lie in a cocktail of ideas which includes anti-industrial nature worship, post-colonial guilt, a post-Enlightenment belief in scientists as a new priesthood of the truth, a hatred of population growth, a revulsion against the widespread increase in wealth and a belief in world government. It involves a fondness for predicting that energy supplies won’t last much longer (as early as 1909, the US National Conservation Commission reported to Congress that America’s natural gas would be gone in 25 years and its oil by the middle of the century), protest movements which involve dressing up and disappearing into woods (the Kindred of the Kibbo Kift, the Mosleyite Blackshirts who believed in reafforestation) and a dislike of the human race (The Club of Rome’s work Mankind at the Turning-Point said: “The world has cancer and the cancer is man.”

  8. “I want to build consensus. I want to build a vision.”
“I want to tell the truth.”
He wants an easier to obtain than local, *European* position that gives him power to tell others what to do.

  9. Sorry Robert…..Two different things. One is proven. The other is not. It is that simple.
Try again next time with perhaps some factual information regarding your belief in global warming. Another pathetic example of how liberals/socialists need to stay on the ADD and ADHD medications so that they can engage in a civil and adult conversation about the topic at hand (or any topic).
    Or as your ilk would say……Shut up! I’m right! You’re an idiot! You’re a racist! You’re a bigot! You’re a Neo-Con! You’re a neanderthal!

  10. What do you get when you cross David Suzuki with angry Tom Mulcair? Duncan Stewart, the voice of consensus.

  11. Al, um, NO!!!! 6 million is a bullsh!t number, and by using it you make yourself look as uniformed as the greenyweenies. Historians are thinking of bumping the number from 15 mil to 20 mil, and that’s a little more than 6. Also historians now claim 6.7 million Joos were killed, and over 42 thousand holding and transfer locations have been identified.

  12. As if the pronouncements of someone in a small, largely inward-looking republic on the periphery of Europe are going to make a difference.

  13. They are holding back comments. In forums where they don’t censor- there is no consensus for “pro CAGW” in the taxpayers minds.
I read lots of sites daily, left, right and center and compared to 5 yrs ago, the change is drastic. Now it’s gone from hide the decline to hide the “deniers” voices.

  14. The detailed psychological analyses may be correct, but equally possible, a few guys took a quick look at some numbers around 1990 and made a very poor guess as to where the trend curve was heading. By the time people started to notice, there was too much face left to lose, and too many reputations at risk. So the task shifted from drawing attention to the non-existent problem, to guarding the reputations of those who made the original mistake(s). This will all end gradually, mainly by attrition, as older warministas die off and younger scientists without a dog in the hunt draw more realistic conclusions. We’ll probably never experience a moment of total victory in this fight, but eventually the warministas will be replaced by a new generation without the same zeal, and possibly with a better handle on what’s actually happening in the complex field of climate science.
Or perhaps we will just have another two generations of mindless brainwashing. That was, after all, the fate of the Soviet Union despite its near collapse in 1933-34.

  15. But the spineless dickhead told the parasite that he had 10 minutes…????
That’s the effin problem. I’d like to see this wee green lepre-con demand ten minutes from Lowell Green.

  16. Earth First! We will strip mine other planets later!
Save the planet recycle an environmentalist!

  17. What a whiny desperate sounding typical Marxist bully.
He even used the children cliché.
He wouldn’t listen to any one who doesn’t share his faith.
