This Is Not Your Grandma’s Humane Society

Humane Watch;

A sharp-eyed reader pointed us to something buried in [Humane Society of the United States] latest tax return, covering the year 2012. On page 32, HSUS states that it made an “investment” total $25.7 million in the “Central American and the Caribbean” region. We went back to HSUS’s 2009, 2010, and 2011 tax returns. There were no reported investments of any kind abroad.
Strange? We think so.
Where exactly is this $26 million “invested”? It turns out HSUS funneled mega-bucks to several funds located in the Cayman Islands. You know, the secretive place where secretive people stuff their secretive money.

  1. So why isn’t the IRS going after their charitable,non-profit status? /sarc
    Save a pet,punch a HSUS (and Canadian equivalent)supporter in the groin,then donate their wallet to your local shelter. As Phantom says…..hippie and leftard (I know same same)punching never go out of style.

  2. Just because an organization is labelled “non-profit” doesn’t mean someone isn’t getting rich off it.

  3. Has anyone ever exposed the salaries of the executives of HSUS, complete with transparent expense accounts?

    Don’t underestimate Bono.
    Every African saved, spawns another wave of AIDS victims.

  5. I sometimes wonder if the largest number of the scurrilous, entitled to everything that comes to their hands, are part of the “me generation”. Probably it is because I am from the pre-baby boomers, but it seems this lot has developed a great deal of Slyentists; Slynomical writers and particularly Slypolitical operatives and bureaucrats. It’s convoluted thinking, but I get it. Yup.
