Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I sometimes hope she’ll win. Some (Fenris Badwulf.) have accused me of being an accelerationist. …
What was that I was reading about California having a quarter of the accumulated debt of Ontario? … not certain of their future unfunded pension liability. Someone will pick that tab up. Someday.
and,
What’s the left / right ratio in this mayoralty race? 5 are running, so it’s Rob Ford vs Chow & 3 other communists?
I can’t believe that stupid show is still on TV.
It’s not on TV, it’s on the CBC. Y’know, Entertainment Welfare.
“What rest of Canada?”
That right there is the typical arrogant, entitled mindset of the worthless Torontonian who has no idea that there is anything outside the GTA. Olivia Chow personifies the ignorance that is the GTA resident.
And four years faster for an above ground rail system? With the usual pandering to unions that the left takes part in, Chow will cave to their every demand so it will take more like fifteen years with the strikes that will inevitably happen and will be millions over-budget with the payoffs and bribes.
The CBC has no shame.
Yawn – more demented narrative and partisan pimping from the gated community caffè latte commies who proselytize their narrow world view from the center of the known universe – do these self-obsessing asshats realize how much they are loathed in ROC?
CBC ceased being a national voice when it began propagandizing the GTA political distortion to the ROC instead of waking up GTA to opinion in ROC. CBC does nor speak for Canada only gated community socialist elites in GTA _ as we see here.
I’m with marc. Watching New Yorkers and Torontonians enjoy the fruits of their leftist ideology has a certain appeal. Every time a more right-leaning politician tries to save them from themselves, s/he has to endure is constant abuse. Let them turn into Detroit, as long as the leftists don’t flee to Texas/Alberta and take their bad voting habits with them.
Why do all the performers on 22 minutes scream all the time?
The fake laugh track is awful too.
Even in this love-in ‘mock debate’, she comes off terribly.
You elected a big Harvard muslim socialist we elected Rob Ford.
And 1/4 of Toronto’s vote is reliably conservative including for Stockwell Day and the CA back in the day and that, for now at least, does have a fiscal con mayor.
BTW, great line, Patsplace, about Entertainment Welfare. I’ve already entered it in my political quotes document.
If Chow runs … it will be dog eat dog for sure, but no happy ending for you Orivia, That was Jack’s thing.
Sadly John Tory and Rob Ford will likely split the “right leaning” votes, and this dipper will probably win the mayors seat.
Who will the CBC fawn over next Fed election, Mulcair or Trudeau? CBC will try not to split the vote knowing the consequences, so who will they give the “love”?
Why do all the performers on 22 minutes scream all the time?
For the same reason bad bands play so loudly, they think it makes them sound better. Loudness vs quality. If have nothing at least make it loud.
Carl;
Always amazing when people are surprised at CBC and their prime directive. Progressive thought is well engrained in the general population. The only time enough voters deviate from that is during ‘tough’ economic times. When threatened economically people will turn to those who provide enhanced security through competence.
PMSH and the CPC have done a poor job explaining the Canadian economic reality. I suggest that a goodly % of progressives think that the Canadian national debt will be paid off when the CPC balances the budget next year. Absolutely no concept between debt and running a balanced budget.
Our intellectually deep pundits at CBC will be discussing who best can dispense ‘goodies’ in the post 2015 election. Of course young Turdeau will be that man and not to appear ‘hoggish’ but the CBC will be at the head of the trough. My disappointment with Harper is that after years in government no serious effort at education has been made to enhance understanding of finance.
I am worried about a split, but it is also possible that Ford will get the die-hard right, Chow will get the extreme left and Tory could come up the middle.
I don’t doubt for a second that Olivia is a shoo-in for mayor of Toronto. The progressives will come out en-masse for her.
Perhaps someone from Toronto can provide some insight as to what property taxes and municipal spending have done during the Ford era. Whatever they were, I can well assure you that Chow will break all records in increased spending and taxation.
Of course, when the goose (the taxpayer) starts to squawk about being plucked too fast and too much, the blame for fiscal incompetence will be placed squarely on the evil Stephen Harper for not being sympathetic to the “needs” of Canada’s big cities. (Well, only important city)
CT, I agree fully the the CPC has not explained it’s approach to the debt very well. Also, it bothers me to no end that the opposition party’s get air time talking about all the spending and debt added after the 2008-09 finanial crisis, yet at that very time they all want to spend more and certainly would have, if they would have held the purse strings. CPC doesn’t point out this blaring hypocrisy.
WK runs her warroom. He seems to go for candidates who can’t speak english, or in Chretien’s case english or french. Did Chow have a stroke or has she always been unable to articlulate?
Chow in a landslide.I too am an “accelerationist”, it’s way more exciting.
HT to Greg Gutfeld on Fox for that one. He was commenting on Al Sharpton and wondering why this useless, lying piece of goo, still had a job. It’s a good phrase and certainly suits the CBC at times….at times? Hmmm?
The weakness of the opposition to Ford is that they are not offering a fresh, credible and engaging personality as an alternative. Just the same old reheated municipal time-servers from the past.
The Chow political types in City Hall are the very reason Rob Ford won in the first place.
I love the barely concealed contempt displayed here for Ford and the Ford voter. ‘Your moral and intellectual superiors’ indeed.
Oh ye of little faith!!! Rob Ford for Mayor. He’s the best thing that has happened to Hog Town in 50 years….crack and all.
Will she be triple dipper pension wise if she wins?
She just OOZES confidence.
The same self-concious confidence as when a girl notices she starting to grow breasts..
