The federal government is spending $22 million a year to support athletes and coaches who leave us bursting with pride, win or lose, at their dedication and sportsmanship. At the same time they are spending nearly the same amount, $21.7 million, on the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, whose only goal is to make Canadians hate themselves…

I hope that the “Rights Museum” is near that “Tree Museum” so we can use the “Parking Lot” to park our gas guzzling trucks and SUVs when we pay through the nose to buy the overpriced government issued tickets to get into the said Rights Museum.
From the article:
“Ever since chief promoter Gail Asper launched a smear campaign against all ethnic groups that oppose giving primacy to the Holocaust at the “rights” museum, financial donations have plummeted.”
Next to fractional-reserve banking, the holocaust industry is the second biggest money-maker. It must be preserved at all costs.
Do they have a “Right to Life” section in that there museum? If not, no other rights are worth a snowball in hell.
What exactly would curators at a propaganda museum do? Since they have no physical artifacts, do they sit around and have a big pity party?
I think they could have a love-fest for English speaking people who invented human rights and for the most part remain fairly unique in the practice of human rights.8cs2v5
Yeah it’s there next to the “Right to be Forced Into Paying for Human Rights Museums” display.
I bet the history of rights of private property owners is a “huge” section.
21 million is a good start toward government spending within its means,as is 1.4 billion wasted on CBC, endless govt funded “NGO’ phoney organizations.
Losing 31 billion of senseless regulation and useless drag on canadian producers would be time well spent by this govt.
Human rights BS, tribunals and museums not so much.
Samuel Johnson said of the Giant’s Causeway, “worth seeing but not worth going to see”. It sounds like this white elephant isn’t even worth seeing. I see Timmins’ Shania Twain Museum on steroids.
I look forward to seeing the exhibit on the rights of Anglophones in Quebec.
Human Rights are simply the excuse for Atheist Totalitarians to take away your Natural or Inalienable Rights given by divine authority.
Human Rights in their eyes are “privilege rights” given and taken at whim by authority of unelected bureaucrats.
Did you vote and elect any member of the Canadian Human Rights Commission?
I’m going to visit my brother in Winnipeg next Summer, and can’t wait to see this monument to…..um….uh…..
Say, do they still keep buffalo/bison in the Assiniboine Park zoo?
In my wildest dreams I can not imagine paying good money to hear those wingnuts explain why we should all repent for being here and for being Canadian. How we should grovel in shame for what happened generations and even centuries ago by people we didn’t know and had nothing to do with. A trip to the dentist sounds much more pleasant.

As a taxpayer I will weep at the stupidity behind the whole premise. The money already wasted could have supplied public outhouses in all parks across the country where the subject matter could have been studied first hand without a huge activist bureaucracy.
The museum should display the great advances in human rights brought to this land by Europeans, ending thousands of years of non-stop genocidal tribal warfare from coast to coast. The endless hatred and murderous warfare was horrific, unspeakable torture, slaughter of entire communities, the remains of their camps artfully decorated with the corpses of women and children, the culture of slavery…
CMHR. Sufficient reason to blow through the Peg without stopping.
Hey Kate, I’m with ya. I’d like to also get rid of Remembrance Day as well. I know it’s your personal Christmas and all…but yeah, all this reflection on troubled times in history is really bringing me down.
Presumably this museum will have a large display or the human right to keep and bear arms which is probably the most important right of all.
I thought they where turning this museum into a mosque already?
Wow! I will never ever set foot in that thing or give it one penny! I’m emailing my MP now. That thing is a total waste of taxpayers money. As Yop touched on, why can’t some one build a monument to Human Achievement? All the good things we’ve achieved as a society. Why dwell on centuries old grievances and tribulations. Not only is it ugly, but it is extremely depressing. New Slogan …”Come Visit and slit your wrists for progress…you won’t be disappointed”
The Cloud
The Roots
The Mountain
The Tower of Hope …and then jump to erase your guilt!!!
Garbage!
From their site.
What people are saying about us
“The Canadian Human Rights Museum will be a wonderful contribution to Canada and Human Rights across the world ”
No attributes! Only one quote, from some nebulous entity. What a pathetic joke!!!! I’m hoping it collapses in some freak earthquake caused by non-existent global warming …err… whatever the phrase is today.
Once the Peg locals have checked it out it will probably collapse under it’s own financial liabilities. No one will go there twice and tourists ? unless they have relatives there it’s a non starter. During the winter you could probably fire a cannon through there with no fear of hitting anyone. I think Revnand Dream has the final outcome pegged. Welcome to the new Winnipeg Mosque.

They can call me names, they can oppress me with unjust laws and trials, they can rob me and use the money to further oppress me, but they can NEVER make me feel guilty or hate myself – reason being, Canada is NOT a human rights abuser and the time when things got bad for any particular group of people here it was from government oppression – it is GOVERNMENT whih is the oppressor, not me not my race, not my church.
If we ant to ban human rights violation then ban government – make them guilty, oppress them.
You know, for all that the Human Rights Museum is just a complicated kickback scam and is a blot on the landscape, it could be worse.
They could be spending that $21 million on -windmills-.
If Tim Hudak EVER gets his foot out of his mouth and his thumb out of his butt and wins an election in this idiot province, I’m going to start a new windmill company. The company will take contracts to SCRAP windmills.
The museum — just to put down the marker here — is a terrible waste of tax money. But Black Rod went a bit overboard here in saying:
“Of course Japanese Canadian Forced Relocation gets a box. Will the Canadians captured at Hong Kong and tortured by the Japanese for four years get a mention here?”
Not the same people, not the same thing. Canadian citizens forced to relocate (and losing their houses and businesses) because of their ancestry, vs. atrocities against other Canadian citizens taken as prisoners of war by a country that had raised savagery to a high art. With damn few exceptions, the only thing Canadians with Japanese surnames shared with the Imperial Japanese Army was ethnicity.
And as for shared ethnicity, I seem to recall a certain General Hoffmeister kicking Kraut asses around in Italy very effectively.
It’s ugly
