Wynneing!

Ontario taxpayers will be on the hook for more than half a million dollars to compensate the man fired last month as head of the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.

Health Minister Deb Matthews has confirmed she personally signed off on a contract that is allowing the CEO of eHealth Ontario to leave early with a $400,000 package.

and!

The president of Hydro One resigned yesterday and walked away with a $3-million severance package only four days after Ontario’s Auditor-General raised concerns about the use of corporate credit cards at the company.

Big tip o’ the hat to James, who adds …puh-leeeeze Kathleen, will ya hire me and fire me?”

  1. Yep, the politicians sure do look after their friends. And it doesn’t matter which Party is in power, the song remains the same.
Yeah, I wish she’d hire and fire me,too.

  2. That’s what the Ontario voters want, they love the Liberals. Debt and high taxes, no problem. Lies and scandals, no problem. Energy bills through the roof, no problem. Every facet of human existence in Ontario is legislated, no problem.
Mother Hen Wynne will take care of everyone, money is no problem, she’s broke. She’s been known to don red boots, mimic Little Red Riding Hood, to deliver personally care baskets in her biggest base, Toronto.
Yeah she’s broke but still can pass out goodies just in time for the by-elections.
She’s riding high in the polls, the voters are brain dead, she can’t lose.

  3. It seems the only ones completely satisfied with Wynne’s performance are the teachers unions the windmill whakoes and the gay/lesbian community. Should be enough to get her re elected. That’s where all the activism is. Oh…and Al Gore/Suzuki love her too. These days thats all you need.

  4. It’s come to the point where I really wish the media would stop reporting stories like this because absolutely nothing will change. The Liberal power bases in the metropolitan areas of the province that consistently force the Libs on the rest of us don’t care in the least. The Libs know and love the fact that they can do whatever they wish and will never be held accountable. All they have to do is spout some meaningless, politically correct, progressive mumbo jumbo then accuse everyone else of being heartless and they are instantly forgiven.

  5. The only positive thought I can come up with is the ongoing pressure from sites like this is making entities like the G&M actually print this information.
Don’t know how far back; below the fold etc.! this failure of political oversight of the bureaucratic entitlement was hidden away, but it was shown. To me this means the Ottawa controlling liberals are losing their grip in Toronto’s media.
I like to think the incredible media pressure on Mayor Rob Ford not being completely successful has put the Journo-list types back on their bureaucratic heels. There is nothing more fearful than a “scared to lose their JOB” government bureaucrat and maybe the media minions are now feeling their fear.
    Maybe! just Maybe! if Mayor Ford’s strength holds and he becomes more careful of his friends then {Toronto the Blue Stocking City) which went down the slippery slope of metrosexual hopey, changey thinking (Hope this gets through the filters) will put the thinking people back in control. Cheers;

  6. Dont be so sure.. Daddy deep pockets was picking up a 6 pack at the beer store and a spontaneous conversation broke out in the line about some new social tax (1 dollar) being put on beer in Ontario..
Winnie the poo is not very popular and this is in the GTA..

  7. Sounds like Rob Ford with his popularity should displace the invisible man who occupies the leadership of the Ontario Conservatives. Ford’s flaws make him appear normal in an otherwise alternative universe.

  8. You do realize that 40% of the people who bother to vote in Toronto are Rob Ford supporters.. Thats better than the conservative national average of 35%..
Open your eyes, like it or not Toronto is further right than the ROC..

  9. ‘Social tax’…That could cover a lot of bases!
Lately I’ve noticed new pubs called ‘Social Houses’ and malls called ‘The Commons’…There are SO many indications that we’re being led by the nose.
Leftists get off on spending other people’s money frivolously. Christy Clark is not much better. The B.C. gov’t tallies carbon credits and the regional district reps follow along like good little lemmings.

  10. Rob Ford would win a majority if he ran in a provincial election against anybody stupid enough to run against him.. There are no limits or boundaries to Ford Nation, only a ever growing army of supporters..
His brother Doug (that charming fellow) could run Toronto in his sleep.. Together they would give Texas a run for the best place to live in North America..
Obama is not hope and change.. He is retch and stuff.. The only item on the after school special menu that never was appetizing.. Like a 50 cent IKEA hot dog, a reward for shopping/voting like a commie..
Mr Ford represents Hope & Change.. That why he is so popular..

  11. The Kleptocracy never sleeps.
Property rights are not part of our constitution, because then politicians could not get rich through lying, stealing and giving their comrades other peoples property.
Face it democracy is long dead.
An informed voter was necessary. As were principled politicians, statesmen and productive persons.
What we have now is voluntarily nonproductive persons, absolutely certain they can manage the means of production.
All evidence indicates they are not even aware of what is wealth and how it is created.
Ontario is following the Quebec model, steal from the many to enrich the favoured few.
Regulation and law is now set up to enable widespread theft from the public and zero comeback for the thieves.
In other words, government by thieves for thieves.
    Kleptocracy.

  12. When the Ontario Liberals delisted Chiropractic, Optometry and Physiotherapy to save .06% of the total health care budget, they explained that it was to save money.
It’s good to see the practice of saving money continuing under Wynne.
    (puking sounds).

  13. unfortunatly their friends in vancouver or regina or winnipeg will get them the same gigs they just left, with the same perks !

  14. Parkinson left Hydro One seven years ago. Can’t really hold Wynne responsible for that one, she was Education Minister at the time.

  15. For what it’s worth, here in small city Ontario most applicable businesses will deal in cash, avoiding the HST. I’ve had a gas line installed, a new driveway installed etc. saving me well over $1,000 in taxes over the past year. Living in a border city, all gasoline,
weed killer (banned in Ontario) and other goods are purchased in the US. It’s not a real solution but it makes one feel good that they are screwing the provincial government whenever possible.
When a government is profligate with the taxpayers money, business will go underground.

  16. “…Can’t really hold Wynne responsible for that one, she was Education Minister at the time…”
So, she stood up and opposed it? Give us a break. She was part and parcel of the same bag of thieves.

  17. That’s not all they have to do. Dish out other people’s money by the cartload is also important. And the minimum wage increase didn’t even impact the Ontario Provincial budget as they didn’t have to pay, even with other people’s stolen money.

  18. I’d let them fire me (3 or 4 times) for HALF that much. I wish they’d put these cushy gigs out for competitive bids to give the rest of us a shot at delivering some VALUE to the poor taxpayers of Ontario.

  19. What’s the difference? Wynne, Redford, Clarke – the only guy with an ounce of credibility might be Brad Wall in SK.
The current crop of political leaders are all flakes. None of them are people of substance. Talent doesn’t seek politics.

  20. Even B. Wall has his weak spots. Like 1.25 Billion for CO2 capture and storage. Just think what a boost that could give for senior care, and a few other things that really matter.Wacq2g For the most part though Wall and Co. are a vast improvement over what has been called a government in Saskatchewan.

  21. Yes, and don’t forget those bird blenders near Moosemin, and in the SW. I am not sure if he is throwing the Eco-freaks a sop or half believes this AGW crap.

  22. Nothing an effective Opposition wouldn’t cure.
Heeeeerrre Timmy, Timmy, Timmy. C’mon boy, here boy, where are ya boy?
Heeeeerrre Timmy, Timmy, Timmy, Timmy, Timmy! Hey….TIMMY!
Where the hell is he now? Heeeeerrre Timmy, Timmy, Timmy, Timmy, Timmy!

  23. This garbage of spend other peoples money on whatever I feel like BS Liberalism has seeped into Municipal politics as well. Just take a good look at “Vison Calgary” or some such BS spouted by Mr Nenshi.
Politicians of all stripes are simply and totally unaccountable for anything they do.
Take a look at some recent legislation from the feds RE: Banks that fail. It appears that they now have the legal right to confiscate our deposits to keep from failing. WTF is that.?? If not outright THEFT.!
Either they become financially/criminally accountable for every cent spent..or we round up a few of the most gross miss-managers of our money and have them tried – convicted and …….
