  1. Good for PM Abbot.
From the Climate Madness article by Simon, “It is galling that taxes paid by all Australians go towards funding that Lefty/Green echo-chamber, which caters for a small urban elite, staffed with inner-city Ultimo types who couldn’t run a chook raffle. Privately owned media organisations stand or fall on their output, witness the enduring success of News Corp, and the rapid decline of Fairfax, as it too panders to the latte-sipping, sandal-wearing intelligentsia, and in the process ignores the vast majority of Australians.”
This article by Simon could be applied to our CBC, word for word.
I do not think we will get a similar comment by our PM as many of his MPs are “progessives” and the rest have been in Ottawa too long and have been Ottawashed.

  2. There is a world of difference which allows Abbott to do such things. It must be remembered that Australia just came out from under a strident socialist/marxist Labour/Green regime, like our NDP on steroids. That gave Abbot the consent to be much more aggressive in reversing policy. If PM Harper were to do the same right now it would have disastrous effects.

  3. “If PM Harper were to do the same right now it would have disastrous effects.”
Right On! If the CPC doesn’t capitulate now they won’t have the opportunity to roll over on some other issue in the future. Being the rightmost of a gaggle of leftist statists doesn’t make them ‘conservatives’.

  4. “If PM Harper were to do the same right now it would have disastrous effects.”
Yup. That’s what everybody said when Mike Harris started to talk about taking on the unions and cutting government.

  5. Quoting Shakespeare; there is a tide in the life of men when taken at flood leads on to fame and fortune, but if missed leaves a life of wallowing around in the backwaters and tidal pools of misfortune. or something like this.
    Does PMSH understand the rise of the tide in Canada? So far it appears so, but; from my small perch I do feel the wet coming up to my shoes. Cheers;

  6. $1.1 Billion of the taxpayer ” CBC money per year” would go a long way to establishing a “FOR PROFIT” “World Class HIP & KNEE replacement Hospital ON Chief Clarence Louie’s FIRST NATIONS LAND in Osoyoos British Columbia.
“FOR PROFIT, WORLD CLASS, 24/7 AND NO WAITING LIST”, all comers, bring cash, Canadian funds only accepted !!
It’s time to sell off the CBC to private interests and let the LOUIE led FIRST NATIONS SHOW THE WAY FOR OTHER BANDS TO LIVE A SELF RELIANT LIFE !
Wait times for hip & knee replacement would be at the very least shortened if not eliminated in Canada.
All Canadians including FIRST NATIONS would be better off!
What say you Mr Prime Minister?

  7. No-one in the PM’s office is listening, including the PM himself. They are too busy trying to figure out how to ban light bulbs.
Recently I was shocked to see that one my favourite Conservative MPs has gone over to the other side, and has started to spout “global warming is true” nonsense. Cults can be powerful, but I always thought conservatives were able to resist them better than anyone else.
Harper could have dealt a serious blow to the CBC, and he chose not to. He will rue the day he decided to let the CBC prosper.

  8. Yes, and that “day” will start early next year when the CBC ramps up it’s adulation of Justin Trudeau for PM.
Harper and his government seem to be stalled in the political doldrums, ignoring their conservative base while pandering to the green/left bunch who wouldn’t vote conservative in a million years.
Mr.Harper, Marketing Boards, Bill C-68, carbon sequestration, green taxes, immigration, and the CBC as a anti-Canadian propaganda outlet,etc.,etc., all need to be addressed if you want to keep the people who voted for you in the first place.

  9. Its global warming that sunk the progressive news.. Its actually sickening to watch them make fools of themselves.. Its not that I want to change the channel, I have to..
People are canceling their TV subscription for much the same reason.. You want me to pay almost 100 dollars a month so you can insult me with your leftist BS..
FOX is probably the only thing saving the entire industry right now..

  10. The CPC are pretty clueless, which is why my financial support is somewhat – delayed. One CPC canvasser called
a few months ago and asked, rhetorically, if I agreed that the economy should be the principal focus of
    government action. Important, yes,
I said, but so was the government mismanagement which allowed the High RIver RCMP burglaries and break-
and-enters to happen. And of course the ongoing nonsense about CAGW is another issue that the CPC is
    bungling.
Leaving the CBC go its own merry way is certainly going to cost the CPC heavily. Already they have scored a good
one with the somewhat trumped-up story about the destruction of DFO libraries.
There is also a problem with all-of-the-eggs-being-in-the-economy basket: the economy is by no means
completely under government control. If problems in the US worsen, there is no way we can escape, however
clever PMSH and the rest of his cabinet are.
