Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Kate truly IS right …
“Not showing up to riot” REALLY IS a failed conservative policy.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr!
They’re always afraid of being judged. And the only rationalization she’s got is “If you were given a million dollars, wouldn’t you take it?” Never mind where that million bucks comes from; proceed no further, brain.
It seems to me the two disc jockeys missed an important point on the question by the lady “If someone gave you a $1,000,000 you’d take it too”.
They should have set the context for the question, “If someone offered you $1,000,000 and it was to come from 100 of your family or friends, would you take the $1,000,000?
Very telling, her parents were on welfare too.
I think that is the crux of this government welfare handout. People, like this woman, are constantly told this magical government will take care of you. They don’t see or really care that actual taxpayers have part of their earnings from working taken from them. The statement; for the government to give you something they must take it from someone else, doesn’t enter their thinking at all. Remember the woman who was all excited when Obama won because he would now pay her gas bill.
As we in the US when 47% of the population is on some sort of “government” payout its pretty well game over.
I forget where I heard this (perhaps Dennis Prager): just because something is unethical doesn’t mean it’s irrational.
Remember that woman who said,”Obama,he gon’ pay mah mortgage and mah gaas”, well Obama pays this woman’s rent and eeeelectricity,so Obam-bam HAS lived up to his promise!
Yep, why work when you can sit around, smoke dope, and make more little welfare bums all day?
The whole system is insane. If Lucy did work and had a income she would lose all the subsidies for rent, hydro, water and other perks. She would be working for no gain and probably a financial loss. She doesn’t sound like she’s the brightest bulb in the fixture but her reasoning is sound. Her parents were on welfare and her 3 children will probably on welfare too. Her husband (?) sounds like a like minded waste of skin. The incentive to stay on welfare is strong and the lack of pride or motivation is seen in a positive light by the welfare enablers, as she is just another victim in their eyes. Even if they saw her as a lazy slug it’s in their own best interest to have as many clients as possible to preserve their own jobs. Eventually the whole system has to collapse under its own weight but that’s the history of socialism. With half the nation not paying taxes , the middle class decimated and the wealthy knowing when to get the hell out, the reset is not very far down the road. About as far as politicians can continue to kick the can.
well said peterj
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.”

NOTHING, repeat – NOTHING like this lush dole exists in Canada!
The next progressive zombie I hear yapping about how bad US welfare is – I’m gonna play the knockout game.
Until Americans vote better or take up arms against the state, this (bovine recipients of vote-pimping loot) is the only growth sector in the US economy. The fascist-induced stasis in much of the private, productive sector is now just acting as the useful idiot zombie class feeding the fascists that are herding them down the road to serfdom. US society is now neatly divided into the voting class (which is comprised of both economic ends of the institutional left) and the productive (mostly middle) class. The later have no idea of what is in store for them and almost no idea of the unconstitutional designs within the existing administration and statist power structures.
Going out on a ledge here. Obama voter?
It’s odd that the two radio guys didn’t make this point. Maybe sneak a little smidgen of doubt into that mountain of self-satisfaction.
Would I say no if I was offered a million bucks? If it was stolen goods I sure would and that’s what this welfare bum is taking.
There are discussions on the YouTube page as to whether this call is entirely genuine. I reckon the hosts are sincere, but this could be a hoax initiated by the caller.
Doubt if that would have made much difference. Remember that her parents were also on welfare and she is only living the life she’s most comfortable with. She thinks people that work for a living are fools and her analogy of getting a million for nothing from the “rich” justifies what she is doing in her own mind. Also remember that the welfare enablers keep coming around on a regular basis offering free this, that and other. No one is telling her to get a job. Why should she ? The more kids she has, the better the benefits and higher her status of permanent welfare. It’s insane.
Thats a refreshingly honest taker.
How does she differ from our average friendly civil servant?
Charity must always be local.
Locally funded and administered, otherwise we get this result, a federal bureaucracy administered by robots, with a vested interest in increasing the number of clients.
You can report welfare cheats until the end off time, government will carefully fail to investigate.
At least with local private charities, the freeloaders can be identified.
Do not steal, your government hates competition.
Same for the average taxpayer, you will be taxed all your working life,an average of 1/3 of your income.
If you live to retirement, you will be eligible for a pension of about 800/month, as you struggle to survive inflation.
If you practice a career as a criminal, you will pay no tax,if you fail our government will spend upwards of 100,000/year to give you a roof over your head, 3 meals a day and 24/7 attention.
Of late I am hard pressed to separate the career criminals from the career bureaucrats. Is there a distinction?
As people who are paid from the public purse do not pay taxes. They are lied to, with respect to their rate of pay.
Think about it, it comes and goes in the same pocket.
Easy to verify but in her situation welfare is far superior to a minimum wage job with few or NO benefits.

Well said PeterJ and North of 60. We have seen this sickness of voters voting themselves largess from the public purse in southern Europe and if it wasn’t for the Germans bailing out Greece, Spain, and Italy through the EU these countries would have collapsed into anarchy or dictatorship already.
This is also happening in Quebec, as it is always waiting for the next equalization cheque from ROC. The sad part is that Quebec has huge reserves of natural resources, but prefers to live on welfare.
In the 1960 my wife worked for the St. Catharines General Hospital in the lab and took blood. There were out patients there that were third generation welfare. Odds are that these people, probably 5th generation now, are still on welfare. The danger comes when the percentage of people approaches the 50% mark.
Since LBJ’s “Great Society” welfare binge launched in the U.S. in about 1965 there are now MANY families where the third generation of welfare kids are growing up and NOT seeing any parent going off to WORK FOR MONEY in the morning and coming home after a good day’s work in the evening … without any roll models of “work” they will never grasp the concept of self sufficiency through paid WORK. It’s NOT a concept that automatically gets absorbed by osmosis.
This really, REALLY conflicts and disturbs me, because … I’m morally opposed to abortion-on-demand, which I regard as baby murder … and yet, how many MILIONS MORE of these welfare sponges would be among us if it were not for the cold, ruthless ‘culling of the herd of parasites’ via abortion?
Obama voter? I’m not sure she would do even that little thing, go to a polling station and cast a vote. But local activists probably arrange to do a proxy vote for her.
The whole point is that the modern “welfare state” has created a whole class of people dependent upon the largesse of the rulers of that states AKA politicians.
Sounds like serfdom to me, AKA feudalism.
Odds are that these people, probably 5th generation now, are still on welfare. The danger comes when the percentage of people approaches the 50% mark.
I include government workers in that group, so we’re well over 50% living off the real taxpayers dime.
The big problem with Quebec is that they don’t consider their hydro sales to the US the same as Alberta/Sask/BC oil sold to the US, and therefore believe that hydro revenue shouldn’t be included in equalization payment calculations.
Hold another referendum, let ALL of Canada vote.
She has figured out that getting the milk for free is better than buying the cow. What suckers everyone is for sweating out a pay cheque.
Someone should tell her the gravy train will ultimately be derailed.
Yes their is if your an Indian in Canada, or an immigrant. They even get free University.
@REVNANT DREAM
Proof please…because last time I checked immigrants had to pay up to 50k to come here and take university courses.
if your an Indian in Canada, or an immigrant. They even get free University.
No, immigrants from India or anywhere else don’t get free university.
On display here in stark undeniability is the broken moral compass to which the collectivist state panders.
late 1960’s,I was a student in a Michigan university. A buddy’s wife was a sociology student doing a study on welfare. there were a number of families in Chicago who at that time were into their 6th generation on welfare. Started in church welfare and then when government got involved switched to public money.
Sigh.. where to begin?
Before Mike Harris took office, he paraded a woman before the press. She had a relatively decent job in downtown T.O., and lived in Newmarket. She quit her job to go on welfare, because her then $40k salary (and this was the early 90’s) after taxes, daycare, cost of commuting, buying lunches, keeping her wardrobe up to office standards, etc. left just a bit more than she’d get on welfare what with the housing subsidy, free prescriptions, etc. On welfare, she didn’t have the hassle of getting up at 6 am each morning, bundling the kids to daycare, getting to work, getting home, etc. Plus, she took her kids out of daycare and spent more time with them. I remember the lefty press having a field day “proving” how she made more money from her job than she got from welfare, while totally ignoring all the time saved and psychic benefits I just noted. The woman was responding rationally to the incentives offered to her.
peterj: “The more kids she has, the better the benefits and higher her status of permanent welfare. ” Yes, exactly. The parable of the 20th Century Motor Company by that crackpot Ayn Rand. Nothing she wrote EVER bears any semblance to current events.
I’ve told this story before: I had a paper route as a kid which included some Ontario housing units. Some units, you would open the door to collect the week’s payment, and you’d see a spic-and-span house. The furniture might be threadbare, but it was neat and clean and the kids seemed bathed and fed, even if there were patches on the knees of their jeans. Those people – and some were single black moms, which is why I never generalize about this anymore – were never there more than a year. They moved up, and moved out. Meanwhile the units where the door would literally bump into a stack of beer cases? Those people were there before I started delivering papers, and they were there long after I’d stopped.
I included all the information asked for. Besides I was talking about treaty rights to Natives for a Free education. Not folks from India. I tried this was the answer
