  1. And now little kids should storm the Whitehouse to get their tours (sometimes planned a year or two in advance) that the Obama administration cut months ago to make sure the sequestration caused as much pain as possible.

  3. Some of Ace’s commenters have pointed out that the WW1 monument wasn’t closed—just the one that would be attended by living vets and their families. Also, there were pre-printed signs about the shutdown indicating it was planned much in advance and not in the past 24 hours.

  4. Looks like Rep. Steve King should be credited with an assist, as he distracted the Park Police while the vets took down the barriers.

  7. Only the monument that would be visited by living vets and their families were shut down? What a coincidence. Not.
    Had this been an event featuring Tea Party members, I’m sure that the riot police would have been called out. But even the most liberal bureaucrats in the Beltway recognize that it would have been bad politics to shut out honoured war veterans.
    So — expect this story to die a quick and quiet death in the media. Can’t interfere with the Democrat narrative after all: that shutting down the government interferes with daily life and that it’s all the Republicans’ fault.

  11. The real story here is that a government that is supposedly shut down has put on extra staff to keep people away from this memorial and is threatening to arrest anyone who tries to get into a “shut down” memorial site.
    If there’s anything that shows the hatred that Obozo has for American history, this is it. To make this government shutdown hit closer to home, the WH should be blockaded and no deliveries of any kind be permitted to the chimp in chief and other members of the self-declared US monarchy. If Obozo or other parasites want to eat, they can line up with the homeless at the nearest soup kitchen.
    One also hopes there is no money to pay for homeland security goons and security theater actors at US airports. Things would function far more smoothly if these statist morons took a holiday.

    I think the right has been lulled into a passive state in the last 30 years… nice to see the “old school” doing what they see fit needs to be done.

  13. What arrogance the US government has to blockade memorials and parks which belong to the tax payers. Not the bureaucrats who are entrusted to maintain them.

  14. Right you are Jason and Loki. The Greatest Generation take their rights as all patriots should. “Bamarama is not their boss”. Here in Canada, I note, as broadcast at Sun News; the WWII vets are standing up to the hydro Cos. refusing the ‘smart’ (spy) meters….and the rest of us are…
    I would also note that the legions in Canada, run by wanna be soldiers kin, will not allow the vets to smoke tobacco in their own legions. The soldiers fought the anti smoke zealots and lost; most of them stay home now even if they don’t smoke. Sad.

  17. This Memorial was targeted by government because it was high profile and the Vets are a group who probably do not support the Dems in a big way. They want Americans to ‘pay the price’ of a shutdown out of spite and as an attempt to create backlash against the GOP.
    Stay tuned for other orchestrated events such as this.

  18. This purposeful move will back fire on Obama. Not being a real American . I don’t think he even understands the reaction this will cause. Including the red dipper babies who hate their own Nation who surrounds him. They only understand force or rules. Pride. Patriotism with loyalty is a desert to their souls.
    Empty vessels pretending to hold wine.
