Harper Derangement Syndrome in Full Bloom

One might have thought that the following headline would sit well with all Canadians:

Stephen Harper announces tougher measures against sex offenders
Legislation will also create publicly accessible database of child predators

Apparently not. Vancouver radio station CKNW has been talking about it all day. Here’s a sampling of the comments on their Facebook page:

I don’t agree with anything Mr. Harper says or thinks or does.

This is nothing but pandering on the backs of child sex abuse victims, the tories had their chance with C-10 and failed miserably for ideological reasons, now they’re in poop up to their ears and hoping to turn this into an attack on opposition, they are no worse than the child abuser they purport to protect us from. I’m more worried about the level of fraud and corruption in the federal govt at the moment. i will not be distracted by such an obvious attempt to change the channel

The reason why haRper dosnt care about why they do it, is because harper dosnt believe in science or research, only oil, thats why, lol..
A public database is a great tool for vigilantes.
Rather than letting them out so we can track and trace them, why not indefinitely detain them until they are no longer sick in the head?
Let’s not bother with the Courts then. Free pitchforks and torches would be much cheaper to provide for everyone! At least the murderers will have a chuckle while enjoying their peace and quiet.

  1. Private sector credit rating agencies rate debtors on a scale of 0-9 so that creditors can avoid giving credit to high risk borrowers. What’s your take on a similar private sector agency keeping a database of predators, with ratings as to the probability of re-offending?

  2. One of the few posts you’ve made that I completely agree with. I remember the ’80s very well and although I can’t remember their names I think there was a family who ran a daycare in Saskatchewan who were falsely accused/convicted on ‘recovered memories’ from children. That whole affair was covered very extensively by the Alberta Report magazine.
It was a real horror show and, like the Milgaard conviction, another stain on the Saskatchewan justice system and it’s corrupt agents.
The law we need to see passed the most is the one that sentences ANY agent, government or private, that attempts to falsely convict an innocent party, to the harshest penalty that the innocent party would have received if the agent(s)-of-false-conviction did or would have succeeded in framing/convicting that innocent.

  3. It’s about time this country protected its children. A pedophile conviction is the tip of the iceberg as there’s more victims out there who are too traumatized to testify and relive it. Pedophiles cannot be reformed. Take a knife to their balls. It’s the only way if one doesn’t want to increase sentences. Do any of you lefties have children? The American Psychiatris Assn. is now on a path to reduce the stigma toward pedophiles. “Look up ‘minor attracted people.” Let’s nip this one in the bud.

Wanna bet that one of those kids was LAS!
Today he spends his free hours on the Public Access Computer defending pedophiles and Al Qaeda.

  5. Slippery slope huh? Odd how no one has a problem with other invasions of privacy, or anything else at the ‘behest of the courts and government.’ Which of course was half of what my post was about, either people are for it, in which case no one has the right to privacy. Or you’re against it, because you have the right. Then again, note s.1 of the charter, it spells it out right there. That “if the government can justify it, they can do it.”

  6. LASsie said: “There were dozens of people falsely convicted of child molestation…”
Yes, we know. Hence my comment above. You really do have a reading comprehension issue LASsie. You should see somebody about that.

  7. I made reference to the ’80s ‘recovered memories’ debacle. Therefore my comment is superior to yours.

  8. Geeze LAS, don’t you care about making positive contributions which could influence real thinking people?/chagrined
