“Nearly half the rebel fighters in Syria are now aligned to jihadist or hardline Islamist groups according to a new analysis of factions in the country’s civil war.”
I’d like a mayor like Jeffery Alan Wagner too.
The Putin school of political advertising. Pity this guy doesn’t have a chance in the low information voter era.

Smart meters, designed to control homeowner’s power usage; a vet in Ontario understands this as do some of the commentators responding to this article at Sun News. My Mom, also a WWII vet, understands the motive and dangers behind smart meters. Too many people have become ill right after installation of one of these creepy little ‘snoops’ for them to be harmless as some claim, IMO.

“German Professor: “IPCC Science Finds Itself In A Serious Jam…5AR Likely To Be The Last Of Its Kind””
“IPCC Science Finds Itself In A Serious Jam, There Is Not Going To be A Climate Catastrophe
NTZ: You were once a believer in the man-made CO2 climate disaster. What changed your mind?
FV: I was Environmental Senator of Hamburg until 1998 and had had absolutely no doubts about the AGW hypothesis because global temperatures indeed had been running parallel with CO2 emissions. My first doubts over the IPCC’s science arose after the dramatic errors of the 2007 4th Assessment Report came to light. On German public television PIK Director Hans-Joachim Schellnhuber said the Himalayan glaciers would melt away by the year 2035. Then as a CEO of Shell Repower Systems, and later RWE Innogy, where I was responsible for the development of renewable energies and discovered that natural factors were impacting our climate. We saw that the wind strength in Northwest Europe had been in decline year after year. Yet, climate scientists had told us just the opposite was supposed to occur, i.e. that wind strength would increase. So I looked at the literature in detail and was able to find there was a relationship with the North Atlantic Oscillation, whose 60-year cycle had entered a weak phase. I wrote articles about this in leading German dailies, and I was immediately branded as a “climate denier” by Stefan Rahmstorf. His reaction led me to look even deeper into the literature. In the end it was Schellnhuber and Rahmstorf who turned me into a skeptic.”

“In total, the Osborne Group [which until last year was 50% owned by Kathleen Wynne’s spouse, Jane Rounthwaite] took in $1.16-million for a variety of contracts — $1-million of which was paid directly to Rounthwaite for her services and expenses.”
The Osborne Group won 14 contracts during the seven years Wynne held various ministerial posts for the Liberal government.

‘Sounds like Rounthwaite’s a glorified community organizer.
OK, there are 20 people working for the Osborne Group. First question: Are any of them Conservatives? Second question: If Jane Rounthwaite has made $1,000,000 working for this group (which up to a year ago she owned 50%), how much are the other 19 making?

I have never been more proud of my Country!
God,we’re “inclusive”!
batb — Scandalous about Wynne’s “pal” getting all those contracts, but this is not new for Liberals. I was wondering why no one made a big stink about money for wind mills going to a Liberal insider (now President of the party). There were many untendered contracts under Chretien. This is the way Liberals do business, but the MSM could care less — but WHEN — contracts are NOT awarded by Conservatives (e.g. Jaffer and his partner) it seems still necessary to investigate the processes. Really I do not know how Liberal supporters can be so blind.

well, we got good news over the weekend. Lawrence Summers withdrew his name from consideration for chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, on news that Wall Street has written him off as a lost cause (even a few of the more obviously bankster-controlled Senators have taken against him).
The bad news is who might be nominated instead. Janet Yellen, currently on the Board of Governors, has been the chattering classes’ top pick for Fed chairman for a while now.
The Washington Post lists five reasons they adore their Janet. Freely translated from the newspeak:
1. Our Janet’s a Fed lifer, and isn’t likely to rock the boat.
2. For example, though our Janet clearly had enough comprehension of the implications of what nobody at the Fed dares call the A+B theorem to foresee trouble in 2008, it never occurred to her to propose real monetary reform that might have undone some of the genuine damage done or helped anybody who wasn’t a banker.
3. So no fears of a national dividend or compensated price. Our Janet will, however, cheerfully print all the money Obama needs to cover Wall Street’s bad debts, throw make-work jobs at the rabble to keep them quiet, and wag the dog in the Middle East.
Normal people can look forward to being fiddled out of their savings through riotous inflation rather than bank failures. For this they will be expected to be grateful.
4. Wall Street and Big Labour adore our Janet in equal measure—which alone should terrify anybody who works for a living and pays taxes.
5. Our Janet’s a woman, which means anybody who criticizes her is sexist and can be drummed out of polite society overnight, much more easily than was ever possible with Bernanke or Greenspan.
The job is hers for the taking. God help us.

Maybe just maybe the navy will get a proper helicopter.
Canada’s CH-148 Cyclones: Better Late, or Never?
http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/canadas-ch-148-cyclones-better-late-than-never-05223/
I hope Canada has legal grounds to fire Sikorsky. They might even be willing to back out of the deal, according the article, from Janes. The AW 101 Merlin, aka EH101 NSH version, is on the production line now, which puts it ahead of the Cyclone. As indicated in the article and abundantly clear to proper analysis, the AW101 remains the best ASW/shipborne naval helicopter in the world. It’s alternatives come up lacking in one or more key areas of range, payload and cargo, third engine safety, weather capability along with proper ASW and other electronic kit.
Its flaw, according the article, is its flight availability, currently hovering around 50%. I’m not sure how that fits in with similar aircraft but know it beats the current rate of 0% operability. Another problem with the Merlin is parts availability and supply chains. I think Canada can turn this liability into opportunity by getting in on a Canadian version of the Marlin, whereby we get involved in, not just production, but life cycle provisions (spare parts), along with future upgrading and development. We’ve been keeping the Sea King flying well beyond its normal life, so I’m sure we can be of help in service availability. We’d be back on the ground floor with AW, maybe with an even better deal than the one we have when Chretien idiotically pulled the plug.
For those of you who think we should have our own defence aerospace industry, here is your chance to kick start it in this cooperative way. Yes, Sikorsky will have a cow, then get on with producing the new presidential helicopter. They simply haven’t delivered, their chopper is an inferior airframe lacking sufficient range or ASW systems which is still today unacceptable to the RCN.
This is an opportunity to right a wrong done to our navy. I hope it works out.

“We got it wrong on warming, says IPCC”
“According to The Daily Mail, the draft report recognised the global warming “pause”, with average temperatures not showing any statistically significant increase since 1997.
Scientists admitted large parts of the world had been as warm as they were now for decades at a time between 950 and 1250, centuries before the Industrial Revolution.
And, The Daily Mail said, a forecast in the 2007 report that hurricanes would become more intense had been dropped.”
