Retired Army major general Robert H. Scales in the Washington Post:
After personal exchanges with dozens of active and retired soldiers in recent days, I feel confident that what follows represents the overwhelming opinion of serving professionals who have been intimate witnesses to the unfolding events that will lead the United States into its next war.
They are embarrassed to be associated with the amateurism of the Obama administration’s attempts to craft a plan that makes strategic sense. None of the White House staff has any experience in war or understands it. So far, at least, this path to war violates every principle of war, including the element of surprise, achieving mass and having a clearly defined and obtainable objective.
A little scratching and hair-pulling wouldn’t do much harm, though:
One officer told me: “To hell with them. If this guy wants this war, then let him have it. Looks like no one will get hurt anyway.”

“Presidents shouldn’t be able to read their citizens emails, listen to the their phone conversations, nationalize automobile & healthcare industries, give cronies playoffs & kickbacks with “green energy” scams, sell guns to Mexican drug cartels, coverup Middle Eastern gun running operations gone bad in Benghazi, or aid & abet jihadi takeovers in Egypt & Libya either, but Obama is a Democrat and therefor always right.”
Most of this quote was from a commenter in ‘The Atlantic’
I truly believe this amateur will cause WWIII to sooth his ego.
Yeah well, John Kerry has a modicum of war experience…..(sarc\)…..
One scenario i haven’t seen discussed is the possibility of a missile launch by the US fleet being shot down or at least shot at by the russian ships also cruising the Mediterranean. That is part and parcel of what most disturbs me about obama and his minions – there is no plan.
Chimp-in-Chief and Czars may be in for a big surprise. My understanding(please correct me if wrong)is that unlike us here in Canuckistan who swear allegience to the Queen and her reps,in the USSA they swear allegience to the Constitution of the USA,not the CIC.
What could possibly go wrong?
Well, we are now blessed with Warrant Kansella’s completely un(cough)biased wisdom on why this peace prize guy Obam is right to be a war monger just this one time. Ya see, its because Asad is the only guy in the world who has gas and so he did. Couldn’t be those muslam neighborhood guys because they are, er … nice guys? well, but, well Obam likes them so they must be ok. That and WK also manages to get in a Bush’s fault thing too. And WK also cites the NYT as if they never get anything wrong. There I saved you the trouble/stain of clicking the link.

Baird and Kinsella on the same page, beating the wardrums along with the Nobel Peace Prize prez. The puppetmasters really are yanking hard on all the strings these days, aren’t they! It’s WAR boys!
With the success that drones have had in Iraq and Afganistan a war without men on the line is coming. We should all realize by now that if it is only money being spent to achieve a political end that there is no limit to what a politican will do.
I think B. Hussien wants to destroy the USA.

What’s the likely outcome of the world being unable or unwilling to buy the USA debt? not pretty.
Yes,I recently viewed the movie based on Kerry’s war ,”To Hell and Back”. The only problem I had was they cast some little short guy to play the big, tall hero,Kerry.
“Civilian control of the armed services doesn’t mean that civilians shouldn’t listen to those who have seen war. Our most respected soldier president, Dwight Eisenhower, possessed the gravitas and courage to say no to war eight times during his presidency. He ended the Korean War and refused to aid the French in Indochina; he said no to his former wartime friends Britain and France when they demanded U.S. participation in the capture of the Suez Canal. And he resisted liberal democrats who wanted to aid the newly formed nation of South Vietnam. We all know what happened after his successor ignored Eisenhower’s advice. My generation got to go to war.”
I like(d) Ike,always considered him one of the best Leaders any Country ever had. He knew about War,and was about a billion light years away from the amateur in the White House today.
Will these liberal bastards ever learn? If you’re going to fight a war, hit ’em early, fast, and hard, keep the Press at home until it’s over.
Win the f***ing thing, that’s all that counts in the end. Or stay the hell out of it.
Im pretty sure the Russians are having trouble sleeping, like its XMAS eve.. The great community organiser working on the seating plan for his T-Ball public broadcaster war.. Im sure he’s mapping out his victory parade and making room on his chest for his new bling bling..
Commander and Chef, cooking up his after school special legacy..
As a thought exercise.. America needed a black president to defy stereotypes and bring the liberal brand forward.. Its not so much the individual but what he represents.. A stand in for a political ideal, a door stop, a benchmark for racial harmony (cough cough) in America..
Its funny how playing politics on a presidential level can bring any country to the brink of open revolt..
Expecting your military to take a dive so you can pretend you know what you are doing is how very bad things happen.. History is littered with examples of bad military leaders fighting in wars that shouldn’t have happened.. Slipping your size 8 foot into daddies size 12 shoes just makes you look like a clown.. Dont do it, or better yet defer to defence and work on domestic policy..
Playing to your strengths, subcontracting your weaknesses (on a leash) is how great men become historic..
I looked at the supposed videos and I didn’t see any conclusive evidence. Remember thee fautography in Lebanon and Sarajevo, where the muslims bombed their own people in the square to get NATO to do their work for them?
President OClueless
President OBumbles
President ONarcissist
President OFeckless
President OCommunityOrganizer.
President OVotePresent
Because Hollywood is full of high school dropouts and where is Sean Penn when you really need him?
America is so screwd with three more years of having a moron putting his feet up on the Oval Office furniture.
monkey with a hand grenade.
this is the first thing that came to mind when I found out the Russkies are stationing themselves off the Syrian coast.
The US, under present and past administrations, stood/stands on the sidelines as North Korea achieved nuclear status; as Iran develops the same; and as China and Russia snoop, pry, destabilize without repercussion.
And now Uncle Sam – trembling, nutted, and all alone – wants to convince the world that an ankle-biter needs its arse kicked.
The outcome of all this is so predictable.

Military to Obama: “You want a fight”
Obama: “Yeah I wanna fight”
Military: “You really want to fight?”
Obama: “Yeah I really wanna fight!”
Military: “Fine then, you go to Syria and if we’re not there in a few days start without us”.
Jamie, that was hilarious. This may well be the youtube video that characterizes Obozo’s war. Also a good example of mirror neurons in action, the guy who mimics shooting the AK is seen by the chimp and it immediately repeats the action. Surprised no-one was hurt. Maybe Putin will update his “monkey with a hand grenade” description of the chimp in chief after he sees this video.
The only problem I had was they cast some little short guy to play the big, tall hero,Kerry.
It’s hard to find a horseface…Mr. Ed musta been busy doing another role.
The best way to smash the Crime-o-Crat Party is for Congress to give Obiwan his lovely little war, and let all hell break loose. I am a big believer in giving the voter what he wants. Americans voted this scumbag in, so the best thing to do is to let them have him, and take it hard in the @** for the rest of his term. It’s a great reminder that elections have consequences, and after his Syrian venture, the left will have nothing left to say about Bush, and the world, too, would have had a taste of what a weak and useless America feels like.
You know the nation is in deep peril when its hawkish military fears the dangerous idiot leading it. This asshat has to be stopped through impeachment.
The Enlistment Oath for the US military runs, “I, (NAME), do
solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the
Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign
and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the
same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the
United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me,
according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military
Justice.”
The Military Officer’s Oath runs, “I, _____, having been
appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as
indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or
affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the
United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I
will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;”
US officers thus do not swear to obey the President, nor to
follow the Uniform Code of Military Justice. It seems to me, in
either case, that an enlisted man might refuse to fight on the
side of alQuaida, in or over Syria, and that a US officer has a
stronger right in that he need not obey an order of the US
president if it involves aiding an enemy of the United States.
