Iraq redux. It’s not about whether chemical weapons were used but about which side used them to gain a distinct advantage in public sentiment and support. Assad is winning and had nothing to gain. Rebels were losing and had everything to gain. Our involvement to help either side is simply stupid because neither side is worth helping. The longer they kill each other off the better it will be for western society. This potential intervention is about as dumb as it gets.
I see now the Obozo administration is seeking to redefine “war”. So remotely attacking a country with standoff weapons isn’t war? I presume Putin will assume that this means he can sink US ships with standoff missiles because he isn’t putting any Russian troops in harms way. Kerry is far more moronic than I ever imagined. Presumably this also means that if someone can pay an individual to drive a truck containing a tactical nuke next to the WH, this also isn’t an act of war.
Impeachment looks like the only way to deal with this administration and it’s clear that a very major housecleaning is required.
If in fact Congress does approve the strike against Syria it will moot the argument of Obama saying he will go ahead with the strike anyway, in the public mind.
Most Americans think Obama is a nice guy, regardless of his actions and policy. We saw that poll come up again and again prior to the last election.
At this point in time, after all the outrages we’ve seen under the Obama administration, what difference do these sorts of arguments by Rand Paul make?
So help me out here. WTF was Kerrys definition of “war?”
John Kerry is a total asshole.
Look at his body language the whole time Rand Paul is speaking to him: head down, scribbling away at a pad, trying his best to ignore the questions being asked. At one point, when Rand Paul gets into the specifics of the Constitution, the parts written by Madison on the role of Congress, the role of the president, when declaring war, he deigns to look up but then immediately goes back to scribbling on his pad of paper.
Kerry’s just as much a phony, cardboard Sec. of State as the Obamnation is a POTUS.
God help us.
I think, that it’s not war war…with that being subject to an amending daffynition.
So, using Mr. Kerry’s logic Pearl Harbour wasn’t an act of war ‘in the classic sense’ as there were no ‘boots on the ground’ and the Imperial Japanese Navy only targeted military assets to ‘degrade the capacity’ of the USA.
Did the CNN banner actually say that Rand Paul “gets owned” … this is just so typical of the Clowns Not News bunch ……..
I still haven’t seen any evidence of actual deaths or proof that it was Assad that caused them. The US admin keeps saying they’ve got the proof but never show us it. I remember Sarajevo.
And besides, this will only help the islamo-fascists. Stupid, did they learn nothing from Algeria, Egypt, Libya?
A moot is a group discussion; you mean MUTE.
“What difference does it make” could be the slogan for this president’s administration.
BTW Anyone heard from the UN inspectors recently?
So presumably, in Kerry’s mind (such as it is) since they didn’t actually invade Pearl Harbor the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor would not have constituted an act of “war”?!?!
In who’s feverish mind does launching multiple missiles into the territory of a sovereign country not constitute an act of war? Curious to hear from some lefties on this one.
There are volumes of evidence to demonstrate that you have no reason to believe a word that comes out of the mouths of Obama and his minions.
It appears Kerry’s limited action is the same way JFK got the US into Vietnam. How did that work out?
Kerry Goodwined himself early in the process… he makes me nauseous.
And this is different than Bush going into Iraq how?
You know, the war the Democrats have scorned, screamed about and delegitimized for ten years.
Where are all the liberal antiwar activists we’ve listened to for decades?
Oh right, it was never about military action, it was always about the left’s hate for conservatives.
This is hypocrisy writ large.
If they need to attack, so be it, but DO NOT try and tell us it’s different than Iraq.
El Prezidente has just telegraphed his intention to blame congress for the mistake he made in announcing a red line. Turns out it was congress that issued the red line, as well as just about everyone else except him. I guess it is to be expected really, spread the wealth also means spread the blame. He is also saying that when he was given the Nobel prize he said quite clearly that he wasn’t worthy of it. So that isn’t his fault either. Buck-passer in chief.
Kerry: “I don’t consider that going to war in a “classic” sense. (turning to his right) General do you want to speak, at all, to that?”
General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff:
“No, not really Secretary. Thank you for offering.”
Sen. Rand Paul and others: “Bwahah ha ha!”
Kerry: “(inaudible)… pull the rug out from underneath me.”
The discussion is then immediately closed.
Dempsey is now updating his resume.
McCain cashed in his credibility chips a long time ago.
Kerry, will soon take to brandishing his war nick for the D.A.R.

I’m beginning to believe the US is off its proverbial nut. First of all they continue to elect a bunch of kooks and quacks both in the legislative and executive branch who seem to believe that they can fix the unfixable with a bomb.
To our American friends: Please demand actual evidence of the gas attack and not just another ‘green helmet guy’ video. If number one is met then please provide proof that the Assad regime is the one that used the gas. If one and two are met then please provide a realistic outcome scenario of each course of action you choose. Personally I like the ‘do nothing’ approach as every other scenario has an even worse outcome.
However there is one bright spot here. It proves the wisdom of my ancestors who left the US over 100 years ago. Kinda feel sorry for the family members that still live there though….
Exactly! The only difference between this war, war, and the Iraq war, war is that unfortunately the left, through the tutelage of Stalin’s infiltrators during the cold war, has mastered the art of propaganda and brainwashing and how to attack any administration it does not approve of. We see it the process here in Canada all the time.
Saddam gassed tens of thousands of Kurds, hence the no-fly zone in northern Iraq, but I guess they were of no consequence to the left.
Will this gassing of Syrian women and children eventually turn out like General McKenzie talked about the other day when he talked about the so-called atrocities in former Yugoslavia actually being perpetrated by the other sides and NATO being duped.
Bombing will commence and continue until either the regime in Syria capitulates and allows a pipeline to cross its territory, or the regime is exchanged by one that will.
Wonder why Putin/Assad simply don’t pretend to agree, allow the pipeline to be built, and then pull a reverse CIA and support local environmental groups that will relentlessly harass and render said pipeline unreliable. Or agree, and then later unagree, or stipulate a condition that labor and materials must be supplied by Syria, etc. Environmental studies up the ying yang, and so forth. Pull a reverse EPA. Invite some of First Nations folks to go and protest raping of Mother Earth. Make sure CNN has the cameras rolling.
This throw-a-few-cruise-missiles-or-bombs maoeuvre is another manifestation of the left’s article of faith that you can have a little bit of a war or, equally, that you can have a “nice” war. G#d save us from politicos who want and believe they can have just a little bit of war. It never ends well. WWI and WWII come to mind.

Don’t pick on SDA troll LASS’s boyfriend John McCain, they both support Al Qaeda in Syria and their use of Gadhafi’s stolen armories against the children you know.
Clint 1, Obama 0.
It looks like they are going to lob missiles into Syria. No women or children will be killed,of course, and if they are, they were probably supporters of Assad anyway,so don’t count.
With Boehner and John McCain, Obama’s Republican opponent in 2008, on side, they should be able to whip up enough support. There ARE two political Parties in the U.S ,aren’t there?
Funny how the mood in Washington seems to be, “we are all Obama supporters today”.
I guess they just can’t stand the idea of America losing “face”.
Ron and Rand Paul seem to be among the few American politicians left with any sense.
Do you think the Russians might pull another Pristina incident? Wouldn’t that be funny if they upstaged the Boy Emperor at the last minute by dropping some token Russian assets at various Syrian military installations? They could call it a war game exercise with their Syrian hosts.
At least the Japs had the decency to declare war after they bombed Pearl. Obama doesn’t want to declare war and just bomb them for a “little” while to teach them a lesson and to gain “respect”. No objective put forward and the only message given is do as we tell you and toe the line. Fight nice. No wonder this “brilliant” man won the Nobel peace prize. This will be the first politically correct non war in history and we get a front row seat to what will surely be a amazing outcome. Stock up on popcorn and watch this community activist/commander in chief/Nobel prize winner, and all around competent POTUS do his magic. Peace in our time and Forward.

I disagree Joe. I have never seen anyone on this site belittle Vietnam war veterans. That’s something only lefty wingnuts take pride in. The politics behind the war, well that’s fair game.
