1. I agree with rat that consent is a huge issue. However, the various comments on the born this way argument are simply a response to the supposed argument of the pedophiles. If “born this way” is their argument, then we are reasonable to address that argument. And LAS, I have actually read three of the studies that the MSM cite to support the claim that there is a gay gene. Part of a post grad research paper. Two points for you. The minor point is that the studies are about as conclusive as some other MSM mantras…. AGW, one in ten is gay, and so on. The authors of two of the studies were very pessimistic about any implications being drawn from their work. The major point is that the topic of discussion is not whether homosexuals are born that way, but whether pedophiles are born that way. Even if they are, does that give them license to harm and degrade a non-consenting individual? Thanks to my genetic background, I probably have a marked propensity for alcoholism. Shall I simply give in? Behavior is a far more complex mixture than simplistic nature vs nurture formulas, and REGARDLESS OF THE CAUSES OF OUR BEHAVIOR, we still are capable of making moral and ethical choices that rise above the genetic, social, and cultural hands we have been dealt. That, my friend, is the greatness of the human race, and I refuse to give that up to any whining “I can’t help myself” silliness. We rightly mock The Devil Made Me Do It defenses.
