According to its tax return, events such as glitzy galas ended up running a net loss of $60,000 for [Humane Society Of The United States] in 2011. But that hasn’t stopped the group from thinking up new ways to hobnob with society’s elites while pet shelters struggle. One such event, “Veg Appetit,” was held at a swanky Los Angeles museum last week.

I don’t give a nickel to those cretins since discovering they actually fly in MORE strays from around the world. How much does that cost? While my better half disagrees, in my perspective we’re not doing enough with the problems in the U.S. much less the rest of the G.D. planet. There’s a local charity that supports a little village pound up the road from me that I donate all my matching PAC funds to every year. It’s a bundle of dough and supports their spay and neuter program. I KNOW what they do with my money. Also, the gal running the charity is big in local ‘Pub politics. Can’t go wrong.
The OSPCA doesn’t need the glitzy galas and cerebrally-challenged actresses – it has a cozy little ‘donation’ scheme going on with veterinarians. It works like this. Take old Fluffy or Rex in for their final needle of nighty-night, and when you get the bill, you’ll see that part of it is a ‘donation’ that the vet has made to the OSPCA.
In these parts, where the OSPCA has little to no respect, that will be enough to make a lot of folks take a stroll to the back forty with their .22.
These people have found a great scam with terrific fringe benefits. They don’t save animals, shelter animals or do anything else that one would associate with their name. They are as warped as PETA and why they are still in business is a tribute to people that don’t research anything before sending them money. I give locally after checking them out and avoid giving to any national org. because it usually gets skimmed off long before it reaches any viable cause.
