Given any thought to what might happen in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election? Comedian/pundit Dennis Miller views Barack Obama as completely incompetent and one of the worst presidents ever. Yet he’s convinced that America “has tipped” and now 51% or more of voters buy into the snake oil being proffered by the Democrats and want Big Government and the redistributed benefits it provides. So he’s convinced that Hillary Clinton will win fairly easily in 2016 and probably govern for two terms. There’s an obvious question: Is he wrong?

No.
Democrats just can’t seem to get enough novelty presidents in.
Why don’t we just cut to the chase, forget about actually having a GOOD president, and get all the novelties
out of the way.
We need the first female one-eyed negro jewish autistic labrador retriever as president. Couldn’t be any worse
than what we’ve got now.
The same could happen here. With the MSM blocking for Turdopia, all the while attacking the Conservative parties.
Scary thought.
Hillary Clinton was a strong contender in 2008, and of course she will be a strong contender in 2016.
There are several sources of uncertainty. The first is whether the Foulness will run again. Oh yes, it would be unconstitutional, but what does that matter?
The second is, of course, old age and decrepitude. It is interesting the toll that being a lackey of the Foulness has visibly taken on Hillary. If she weren’t nearly as detestable as he is one might even feel sorry for her.
The third is that the Middle East is really just getting going. Even the dumbest illiterate American voter may notice when things get really hot over there.
I would say, 60% chance she becomes President.
Yes, it is another legacy of the American Foulness. Choose a candidate that appeals to women’t *****.
It worked there. With Justin Trudeau, it should work even better, because he probably likes women.
Hillary knows the midwest. She will be the president who builds keystone xl. She knows the folks of nebraska and oklahoma, she likes them, they like her. So she will do it, and have the lowest unemployment rate since her husband. The only problem, Obama left the cupboard bare, so she had two choices, blame the rich, or embrace the rich and grow the economy. I dont like her because she is the consummate liar, and when she speaks she sounds like your 4 ex wives, but what if she gets the job done? That is all America asks for at any given time. I just wonder what kind of intern will be found with her in the oval office closet.
As long as the repubicans are in the grip of larcenous old men like Rove and his gang — which they are and will be come 2016 — the Weeble will easily get elected president. It’s not that the left is so good at winning, rather that the repubicans are better at losing.
If the economy falls off a cliff, Hillary will have to run on austerity. According to macro data, the economy could be in recession now. Predictions of an eight year rule for Hillary are suspect at best at this point. Let’s see what happens when Japan defaults next year or the collapse of the Euro. Obama will have a harder time governing in his lame duck than Bush did.
Agreed. If the Republicans run another squeaky-clean Mormon or other member of the Old White Guys Club, the Whitewater Psycho might indeed win.
But IF the Republicans have learned anything, they can win with one of their bright young up-and-comers,with a minority VP candidate running alongside.
Hillary will be 66 in October, and she looks even older,by 2016,she is NOT going to excite anyone, especially the young Dems.
If Hillary Clinton is the Democratic Party candidate in 2016, I think the refreshed memory of her “what does it matter” from a fierce Democratic primary will sink her.
Barack Obama’s two terms was a given as the final; “okay that’s enough of the appeasement for the racial discrimination”. The ever increasing number of middle road Black politicians in the Republican party; a continuing decline of the “Race cottage industry” will generate an increased awareness of moving beyond the “I am a victim” screed.
There will be an increased number of younger members of Republicans in both the Congress and the Senate after 2014 as the Democrats lose focus while the Clintons make every effort to regain their “total” control of the Democratic Party. Fighting the present ruling politicos is now well underway.
The Liberal Media and their usual Democratic contacts garnered over the last four and half years are in a state of shock as scandal after scandal is set out by the Clinton politicos. When you include “Wild Willy’s” slam down remark of the Wuss appearance of a current President by a former President the capability of both men becomes an issue.
G.W. Bush continues to become more recognized as a class act. The steady steady decline of the “Lame Stream Media” in both their financial condition and their uncertainty on how to react to the coming Democratic street fight will make the new crop of Republicans look much better to the slowly maturing American voter. Cheers
I just wish that someone could come up with a candidate who had integrity and honesty as well as charisma. But, these days it’s all about the show the clown puts on and not whether he/she knows what the heck they’re doing.
Republicans need a black candidate, preferably a gay black woman who can read a teleprompter.
The decline of the US is well underway, it matters not what LOSER stands in the Oval Office anymore, Republican or Denocrate it’s all a cheezy WWF show for fat criminals that haven’t worked a real day in thier lives.
And not to be a smug Canadian, we’ll get ours when the loser Liberal Canadian society eventually puts the Jr. hair piece in charge of our country.
If Bill can be named Father of the Year, then I guess Hillary can be President. There’s something about the Clintons that make them popular that I’m missing.
Here’s how it will look in 2015:
1) Hillary will need a facelift because the public does not seem to take a man or woman seriously if they show their age.
2) She will have to lose weight. She can’t keep wearing pantsuits and getting wider and wider. The youth culture in the U.S. will not stand for two Oprahs. Lyposuction is too dangerous for a presidential candidate.
3) She will have to resolve the issue with her hair by 2015 if not sooner.
4) Her health will be an issue as things in the Oval Office are going to be much tougher than they are at this present time. Turbulence will reign in the same areas of the world, and maybe a couple of more that are on the fringe right now.
5) Benghazi hasn’t been solved yet.
Nope, no Hillary in the W.H. in 2016.
The US, unfortunately, (and Canada is poised to follow if the Kim Kardashian followers get out and vote for Justin), is going under – I feel sorry for my like-minded friends down there, but ‘they’ collectively have ushered in their own demise……I just wish I could figure out how to make a buck out of it all.
I think Hillary will be the Democrat’s choice.
If the Republicans nominate a true conservative like Ted Cruz, she’ll lose.
The Benghazi incident will haunt her, the IRS issue will haunt Democrats, the spying on everyone innocent and without warrants will haunt them all.
A Hillary presidency is as inevitable as the NDP win in BC, oh wait…
Obamacare could sink the Dems. The MSM can’t fake the numbers.
She would have been a better president than 0…but that’s not saying much.
After 0’s disastrous middle east policies what will happen when extreme Islam meets Democrat, woman president; oh, by the way, who just happened to facilitate Benghazi?
It’s hard to tell whether the Oil Tics want Jeb or Hillary doing their bidding after ’16 yet.
I hear Bill is working on a new book, “It takes a trailer park.”
I want to see the Twenty-Second Amendment repealed just so I can see Mr. Hopeychangey run again and lose. He needs to lose. Then again, I’m also afraid he’d win.
It’s difficult to predict what will happen on the US political scene because the political infrastructure is unclear and has been badly damaged by the Obama regime.
First, Obama and his regime have moved out of the real world and into a virtual world of Obama’s Words. There is no connection to hard data; to the realities of the economy, to the realities of what is going on in the Middle East and elsewhere. Obama is pathological; he lives totally in a world of His Words.
Therefore, he has removed Himself from reality and also has isolated Himself from the Democratic Party. He doesn’t represent them; he exists only for Himself. Note that he’s set up his own ‘political party’ which is not linked to the Democrats, which fund raises for him rather than the Democrats and which is electronically connected to millions of his supporters via the free SmartPhones his team has given to all who are dependent on govt funding.
And, note that Obama has exponantially increased the ratio of those dependent on public funds; these people are the LIVs, low information voters, who are under his propaganda control. These people live in Obama’s virtual world of words. Not in reality.
Obama has also isolated Himself from Congress, who must deal with the realities of the economy, the realities of Obamacare etc.
This enables him to blame Congress for all problems. He has contempt for Congress anyway because Obama is unable to accept that anyone is equal to Him.
The fact that he is not a leader; that he has no understanding of the economy or foreign realities…he deals with this by his isolation within his rhetoric and constant blaming others.
Second, the Democratic Party has kept all newcomers out; there’s only Obama and Hillary, each loathing the other. The Clintons apparently agreed to support Obama openly in 2012 (and hide Benghazi) IF Obama would openly support Hillary for 2016. They are fools to trust Obama. His word lasts for one nanosecond. No longer.
As for the GOP, they do live in the world of reality. But how does the real world confront a world, which controls all government institutions (the IRS, CIA, FBI, DoD etc)..and yet this same world refuses to acknowledge and deal with what is actually going on in the real world – the real economy, unemployment; the real Middle East and the realities of Islamic fascism (which Obama denies exists).
So, it’s a dangerous realm of the impossible that has been set up. Obama’s Virtual World of Words versus Reality. Obama’s World is populated by millions linked to Him electronically; by millions dependent on government welfare…by a leftist media system entrapped within his propaganda.
I’m a great believer that Reality always trumps Fiction. But it won’t be easy. The GOP have some great talent…
I think Marc nailed it.
The Republicans will run a nice, safe, bland RINO who promises all the same things the Dem do, and hand it to Hillary.
it would be great to see Hilarious and Moo-chella fight in the primaries:-)))
This all pre-supposes Obama will not run for a third term. As you may have noticed the Constitution with its Rights , Amendments & such, is not big on his agenda.
He has slithered threw breaking his every oath to this paper so far. Why not a two term amendment?
I’m sending this from North Carolina.
Any country that RE-elected Barack Downgrade Hussein Obungler will elect ANY OTHER socialist. Dennis Miller is (regretably) correct that the tide has turned, and America is no longer a reliable bulwark of free enterprise capitalism.
As a dual citizen – Canadian by birth and American by choice (BEFORE anybody had ever heard of Obama) – I’m running out of decent free countries.
Dennis Miller is right. The numbers have tipped. More than half of the population of the U.S. doesn’t care what happens to the country; in fact, they’ll vote in any Democrat out of spite for the people they think deserve to be taken down. It’s over. Been a great 200-plus-year run, America. We’re all going to miss you, especially when whatever alternative that’s waiting in the wings takes your place as Boss.
I agree, the GOP have talent, but the loser Rove types will still be running the GOP, and as V10 said, they will run a bland RINO.
A big fly in the ointment is the fact that a significant percentage of the population has figured out to vote for the guy that promises a free phone and other goodies. Health of the country be dam*ed.
The answer is “NO”.
Now.
Where is poor LAS?
I kinda miss his nonsense.
True conservatives hate it when they’re fishing around for a spare Churchill and all they can drag up is a Hudak or two.

On the contrary, Robert. 51% or more of the voters have finally stopped buying the snake oil that the REPUBLICANS have being selling them for quite some time.
BOTH the Republicans and the Democrats want to redistribute wealth.
The difference is that the Republicans want to redistribute the wealth in foreign countries, while the Democrats want to redistribute it at home in America.
If I were an American citizen I would certainly vote for Hillary. Given the choice between any cretin from the GOP proposing to waste taxpayer money to bomb an Islamic hellhole like Iran and then rebuild their infrastructure for some fatuous objective to bring them “democracy”, “gay rights”, or whatever bullsh#t, I would certainly vote for Obamacare since at least that way, the taxpayer money is being wasted DOMESTICALLY at home in America.
Faced with these voting alternatives, only in the mind of a neocon strategist would it be any wonder that the American voter would want to vote for the Democrats.
Of course, Robert, Hillary would win very easily. The American voter whether left or right would ALWAYS pull the lever for the Hillary against any other GOP prospect.
This is the problem of getting your news from a crappy neocon site like Ace of Spades or Hotair. It is just an echo chamber of neocon mental retardation.
Ken, I’m not sure that the Old Guard GOP will retain their power much longer. They certainly want it but it’s slipping away.
The important election now is 2014. The Democratic Party has to keep control of Congress. The GOP want them of course to lose control. In a strange way, and I refer only to Obama’s perverse pathology, he doesn’t care about losing or winning Congress since he doesn’t consider Himself part of it, nor does he consider Congress of any use to Him.
The unelected institutions, ie, the IRS, the FBI, the CIA, the EPA etc – now, these have been corrupted by Obama and made far more powerful than Congress. After all, Congress has rejected or passed bills and Obama ignores them. Totally ignores them; he has his EPA for example carrying out what Congress denied.
Plus, I strongly suspect that Obama would want Hillary to lose. He’s a malicious and vindictive person; she’s toadied up to him but he knows that the Clintons despise him.
I think that the GOP have a good chance of regainingn power, but, that enormous electronic LIV base, all captured within Obama’s Rhetoric, can’t be ignored. And, he wants the Hispanic vote.
Obama doesn’t campaign on his own achievements; he campaigns against the other person..as a person. That’s what he did in his previous Senate race, leaking classified information about his opponent’s private lives. His 2008 campaign was Not Bush. His 2012 campaign was Not Romeny..and he defined Romney as a ‘rich white man’.
The GOP had no-one else in the primaries (and they go on too long). I like Rick Perry but he had just had a major back surgery. None of the others were of the calibre of the new bunch of GOP.
So, I’m more hopeful than many of you here. But Obama is pathological, very malicious and dangerous.
I think it’s pointless to speculate about what’s going to happen in 2016 until we see the results of the 2014 midterm elections. I suspect Dennis Miller is right as the fraction of parasites in the US has likely become a majority of the population. The big question is whether the parasites will vote and secondly, how much electoral fraud will there be in 2014 and, especially, in 2016?
Now I don’t spend enough time in the US to get a clear picture of what’s going on there. Since consciously making a decision to totally avoid large cities in my travels, I find that Obozo is uniformly hated in the small towns I go to but I have no idea what people think in large cities.
ET, if what you’re suggesting was happening is actually the case, then Obozo is very fragile. He doesn’t have the intellect to do things on his own and he surrounds himself with people who are dumber than him. The only thing he can do is to try to increase the fraction of the population that is dependent on government in order to keep getting re-elected (and it wouldn’t surprise me is he had some interpretation of the US constitution which permitted this given his abysmal paper on relativity theory and the US constitution).
Inflation seems to be the biggest elephant in the room that governments are studiously trying to ignore. When I was last in the US, people were grumbling about how much more everything was costing but it seems that the “official” inflation figures are much lower. In Canada, the cost of quite a few prescription drugs has increased by 200-300% and there are perpetual drug shortages. When people are getting no interest on their savings and the government is lying about the degree of inflation, relatively soon even the most dense individual on a fixed income will realize that something is amiss.
Politicians like to believe that that are in control of events and will usually rewrite history to make it look as if things happened exactly as they predicted. Politicians also suffer from the delusion that they have thought through a problem completely and are blindsided by “unexpected” events. The more insular the group of people around a president, the more likely that “surprises” will come from their policies. The last president who was able to see in detail the consequences of his actions was Reagan as he surrounded himself with good advisers. Clinton was pragmatic. Bush was too much of an ideologue and while Afghanistan was executed well, Iraq was a tactical military success and a strategic debacle. Obozo has been a spectacular failure and the only reason he has remained in power is that he’s cynically increased the rate of dependency to create a permanent underclass to vote for him. He’s the most vulnerable if world events don’t go his way.
As far as the Republicans go, they’re becoming increasingly out of touch with the population. Unfortunately, it seems that the failure of Barry Goldwater to win the presidency has forever biased the party in favor of bland non-entities as presidential candidates. Rand Paul shows promise as does Rubio. However, neither of these would likely be selected and people will continue to perceive, correctly, that the Republican party is a party of rich old white guys. Unfortunately it still remains the best hope for dealing with the more and more entrenched totalitarian forces that currently govern the US. What the US really needs is a third party although US politics is much more fossilized than in other places with just two parties that have existed for centuries.
The problem, Daniel, apart from your reductionist and quite false simplication – that the GOP want to redistribute wealth in foreign nations and the Democrats want to redistribute wealth domestically – the problem is that you’ve ignored the vital, vital, necessary prior factor of such redistribution.
It’s called creating wealth. Got that? How is wealth created? By Investment. Investment is a process that takes profits (surplus, wealth) off the daily use market and invests it in long, long term infrastructures.
The oil refinery. The industrial manufacturing factory. Research. Hospitals and roads and.. Stuff that exists because wealth has been INVESTED in it..and that wealth just sits there. For a long time.
And enables Production. That’s the second vital component of the economy that you are ignoring. Production..takes profits..and hires more workers. Buys more machines and trucks. Buys supplies. Buys hydro and…And makes things.
For Consumers to purchase. So, if you take all the profits away in taxes…guess what happens? The economy screeches to a halt. No Investment means no factories, no loans to small businesses, no loans to enable businesses to buy new equipment.
If you take all the profits via taxes – no Production money. No jobs for workers. You can’t buy supplies.
Profits are a vital, vital component of a robust economy. If instead of allowing the profits to go BACK into the private sector, you, the Public Sector Taxman, take it all away….well, that’s the end of the economy.
As for foreign affairs, you probably approve that Obama has enabled Iran to go nuclear, has empowered iran in its imperialist ambitions, and enabled Russia to move into the Middle East – and I assure you, neither nation has any interest in democracy.
Not only “no” but “Hell No”
I mean “no”, she will not win if she even runs.
Too old, too much baggage, yesterdays meat loaf.
Some other commie will win. US is finished.
Loki, the price of food has also increased considerably during the last year.
ET @ 10:44, I might suggest that the second part of the redistribution and taxation equation might kick in, and that being the government takeover of production and distribution.
Altaguy, Yes, and that is the sad part. Bread and circuses are not nation builders, but nation destroyers.
.
What a gloomy bunch!
There are signs everywhere that Americans are waking up from their fifty-year snooze in the Barcalounger, starting to pay attention, and not liking what they see.
Nothing like a whack in the wallet to get their attention, and the whack is just beginning.
Admiral Yamamoto’s famous “sleeping giant” remark may well apply.
I think Benghazi is an albatross around Hillary’s neck. Obama rewards his followers but only so far so he will be no help once it’s time to leave. While I don’t expect the American electorate to be any smarter come 2016, I don’t expect some memories to be short, either.
Maybe 2014 will give one a better idea.
“The difference is that the Republicans want to redistribute the wealth in foreign countries, while the Democrats want to redistribute it at home in America” – you jest. Dems are just as big or even bigger on “foreign aid” – call it bribery – as the Republicans. Then you say “any cretin from the GOP proposing to waste taxpayer money to bomb an Islamic hellhole like Iran”, which I am afraid shows that you are a slow learner. The lesson of 9/11 has not been learned by too many; Osama bin Laden was a clear and forceful teacher, both by word and by deed, but some people need many many lessons before they get the point. I do think that the Ayatollas will prove quite willing to deliver those lessons.
Peter, I hope you’re right but so far I don’t see … at all. If the Democrats win the Presidency in 2016 then we can pretty much be certain that the majority of American voters are:
– Ignorant of the real facts of what’s occurring in their country
– Addicted to what they perceive to be their entitlements
– Still believing, mostly due to the propaganda machine known as the “MSM” that Democrats are good and Republicans are evil
No, he’s not wrong.
Ok, the longer reply. The hilarious thing is that the establishment GOP is already pushing Jeb Bush hard. This is typical, as it’s stupid on so many levels. The biggest two are that, first, he’s a “moderate” (aka liberal) Republican in the vein of McCain and Romney. If the GOP can’t figure out not to run moderates after the 2012 disaster of an election, they’re finished – permanently. Second, Democrats will use the entire election cycle – once they’ve helped Jeb secure the primary – to hang him with the Bush name that they’ve spent the better part of the last two decades muddying. They won’t even have to campaign very hard, between running a woman (Hillary) and screaming “BUSH!”, they’ll have it by a wide margin.
And, yes, Obama has – with the eager assistance of the country club RINOs in congress – finished securing the 51% or greater margin of parasites that will continue voting for a living.
If *I* can see that, and GOP ‘consultants’ and ‘strategists’ can’t, well, like they say – stupid can’t be fixed.
Dennis Miller is correct.
The Marshmallow Experiment proves that 66% of the population has no tolerance for delayed gratification and wants their marshmallow right now, damn the consequences.
The only thing that prevented them from eating their future before was the debt ceiling and Barack Hussein Obama has blown through it like there’s no tomorrow.
Thanks a lot for nothing ! Just the thought of this happening is so depressing you bummed out my weekend and I lost my appetite for the BBQ steak that I WAS going to do. What a depressing prospect – if it comes to pass I can see the “free state project” going viral – the only way for normal people to insulate themselves from this aggressive leftist fascism/kleptocracy is to concentrate their numbers in a few states and control the public agenda there, making the state a fed free zone like new Hampshire.
Yeah well there are unknowns and known unknowns…..
What influence the AP scandal has on the media….if it turns on OBOZO and the donkeys….that is a big factor.
How much election fraud affects things….indeed it may be the shots on Fort Sumpter…..
Miller is relying heavily on the takers versus makers ratio.
What effect expensive gasoline and electricty will have.
Yep OBOZO has his own party and controls the IRS, the FBI, the CIA, the EPA etc because the swivell service is donkey/liberal in Canada as well asw the US….but over-reach can produce a backlash.
The Hildabeast is a garolous haridan now and obvious….wrong image.
The effects of the OBOZO/Clinton power struggle….remember both camps lack scrupples…….
I don’t think anyone can predict like Miller is pretending to. First, Hillary’s chance was in 2008. She’s only getting more baggage and burnout. Second, bribing people requires money to bribe them with. I have every reason to believe that the 2008 meltdown will occur again. The Dems best bet is as always GOP incompetence.
I suspect Moochelle will run for President.
She sure reminds me of Flip Wilson’s “Geraldine Jones” character…..
What makes anyone think there is a replacement waiting in the wings to take over global leadership once the US goes down? China will get old before it gets rich, and follow Japan into demographic oblivion. Russia is well below replacement rate population-wise, and in the next thirty years, will lose large swaths of territory to Islam.
Anyone remember those fun times called the Dark Ages? There have been extended periods in history without a superpower – they tend to be pretty bad times to live through…
