  2. The following is a generalization but I’m convinced more accurate than it is not:
    Male Leftists I’ve met seem to exhibit these qualities:
    1. More effeminate than the average male.
    2. More narcissistic than average. Where a conservative male wants to be left alone by society and the government, a Leftist male has an unending desire to scream out, “Look at me, look at me!”
    3. Likely more marginalized during their high school days. This seems to exhibit itself in adulthood as, “Now I have a chance to get into power and tell others what they should do and how they should operate their lives.” Look at American male politicians on the Left and this becomes blatantly obvious.

  5. Picking politics by neighbourhoods is highly unlikely to give an accurate picture as neighbours don’t always vote the same way. I live close to “enemy territory” going by the NDP signs at election time and I’m no socialist! My kids do have conservative names by the authors’ definition but the immediate neighbours have hard and soft-sounding names for their sons. I don’t think this study will do well in “peer reviewed literature” and it’s certainly a very rough guide at best, more of an opinion piece in fact.

  7. My two sons were named after their grandfather. It’s a bit narcissistic to name them after yourself. I suppose that would be considered a conservative thing to do although that wasn’t the intention.

    Another distinction is that the Liberal male or female are meddlers never minding their own business and focusing on others, especially on conservatives that just want to keep to their own.

  20. Children with an unusual or misspelled name have a tough road because they spend half their time either explaining their name or correcting the spelling.
    When conservative voters heard that Palin’s children were named Trig, Track, Piper etc. 5 million more of them decided to give the election a pass.

  27. First off, lots of parents give their kids utterly idiotic names today, not just educated liberals. Conservatives do, white trash does, black trash does, and so forth. My wife and I are constantly amazed by the stupid, weak, and idiotic names parents use today. You also see things like perfectly good names being intentionally misspelled to try and make them “unique”.
    Second, I cannot stand these dumb stereotypes that try to pigeonhole people, for example all conservatives shop at Walmart.
    I am as conservative as they come and I cannot stand Walmart. I hate the place and everything about it. Does that make me less conservative? Give me a break.

    Are you telling me that conservative voters were excited and inspired by the McCain/Pallin ticket? McCain and his running mate were applying for the top job in American politics and perception in the public’s mind can mean everything, even when it isn’t true. Pallin was perceived as a bit of a flake and she couldn’t shake that image even when it wasn’t true. Did the names she picked for her children inadvertently re-enforce that ill conceived perception of her or not?

    If they have a hyphenated last name,there is a very high chance that they are a meddling “progressive”.
    Nothing shouts ” look how modern I am ” quite like that special last name.

  33. Um TJ, evah hear of mathematical modeling (statistic analysis), it’s the degree of probability that counts.
    Having work is service (at several different bus. ) I can tell U that pigeon holing ppl is a good way of tailoring to your clientel, and can be quite accurate. Also when it appeared some one left the “stupid cage” unlocked it was usually about 3 days before full moon!!!!
