No one can say “la la la” without actually pronouncing those nonsense syllables quite like the French. Tonight we listen to the relaxing, vaguely ethereal, meadow-frolicking sounds of Claudine Longet, as she blows absently on a puffball called Lazy Summer Night.
The comments are open, as always, for your Reader Tips.

Hundreds of U.S. Secret Service agents will be dispatched to secure facilities in Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania. A Navy aircraft carrier or amphibious ship, with a fully staffed medical trauma center, will be stationed offshore in case of emergency,”

He’s an advocate for testing of what is sold in Canada as “organic crops” … which aren’t really tested in Canada. Although they are certified by some office workers to not be sprayed with chemicals, unfortunately this doesn’t work when it comes to testing for hepatitis from incompletely composted animal fertilizer (commonly known as bull shit).
Here are some of his thoughts regarding the recent hepatitis outbreak in the USA from “organic” grown berries at Costco.

  4. The turban ban is ridiculous.
Who cares about a turban really.
But that doesn’t justify all the hatred and hostility i’ve seen against Quebec on Twitter lately.

  5. Nobody is talking about Claudine Longet? Gee!”
Thanks EDB!! She is cute!! Or was?

  6. Try turning it around. If you went to India and wanted to join the police force (example) but once accepted, demanded to wear your stetson hat, do you honestly believe the Sihk constabulary would bend over in a fit of political correctness and allow it ? There is good reason to mock Quebec (they keep begging for mockery) but the Turban issue is just good ‘ol political correctness. They take the rag off their heads every night at bed time and there’s no reason they can’t take it off for a soccer game. Quebec’s rules. You want to play, all you gotta do is follow them. So what happens when girls with Burka’s want to join the team ? Anyway, once Quebec becomes it’s own Country (what time is it now?) it will no longer be a issue.

  7. Actually Orlin You could tell the kid that the camel herders just interpret the Qur’an to whatever suits them.
    The Qur’an’s passage reads:
“And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their beauty except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms (jaybs), and not to display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to Allah together, O you the faithful, in order that you are successful”
    — Qur’an Sura Nur Chapter: The Light. Verse 31
It’s just so confusing they decided not to take a chance and just put a tent over them.

  8. Just a thought or two.
Who would you rather be on a sinking ship with?
PM. Stephen Harper, Tomass Mulcair, or Justin (Shiny Pony) Trudeau.
2 of the above choices will blame either capitalism or lack of more multiculturalism for everything.

  9. People are simply sick and tired of the perpetual double standard of Quebec: French only dans la belle province but English and French everywhere else in Canada, even if there aren’t any Francophones within a 100-mile radius.
My Canada doesn’t necessarily include Quebec. If Quebec keeps costing the ROC gazillion$ for their insular, anti-ROC policies, they can get lost. Quebec wants all of the advantages of being a Canadian province but none of the responsibilities or collegiality of being a member of the Dominion of Canada.
Canadians are losing their patience with these petulant, self-centred, entitled Quebecois: Everything for me but crumbs for thee. Uh uh. No more.
Why does this surprise you, QNDPS?

“The Met Office is to hold an emergency meeting of experts to discuss the increasingly unusual weather in the UK, it has been reported.”
“It follows the coldest spring in more than 50 years, as well as droughts and floods in 2012 and the freezing winter of 2010.
Climate scientists and meteorologists will travel to the forecaster’s headquarters in Exeter on Tuesday for the unprecedented meeting.
Attendees are expected to debate whether the changing weather pattern in the UK, and in northern Europe, is because of climate change or simply variable weather.”

  12. “Native Americans decry eagle deaths tied to wind farms”
” A Native American tribe in Oklahoma on Thursday registered its opposition to a U.S. government plan that would allow a wind farm to kill as many as three bald eagles a year despite special federal protections afforded the birds.
The stand taken by the Osage Nation against a proposed wind energy project on Indian lands in northeastern Oklahoma is based on the tribe’s cultural and religious traditions tied to America’s national symbol, tribal leaders said.
They spoke during an Internet forum arranged by conservationists seeking to draw attention to deaths of protected bald and golden eagles caused when they collide with turbines and other structures at wind farms.
The project proposed by Wind Capital Group of St. Louis would erect 94 wind turbines on 8,400 acres (3,400 hectares) that the Osage Nation says contains key eagle-nesting habitat and migratory routes.
The permit application acknowledges that up three bald eagles a year could be killed by the development over the 40-year life of the project.”
