  1. If there was a video, and it was legitimate , the 200 grand would have appeared instantly. That kind of money is chump change in this game. The way they meant to drag it out with the crowd sourcing smelled like BS, pretending that Fords’ political opponents don’t have that kind of money is laughable.
    What an ugly farce.

  2. No finer example of how low journalism has sunk. Accused, tried and convicted without any evidence. Sun news was the only one I saw that questioned the motives behind this witch hunt and refused to go along with the lynch mob. No wonder the lefties hate Sun News.

  3. Easy, the Ford family offered $300K for the video and destroyed it.
$300K is nothing when you deal drug.

  4. The problem with suing the red star is that they will likely use the public interest defense, which makes it harder for Ford to prove the defamation. Of course, Ford probably has a good lawyer, who told him to keep feeding them rope, and let them hang themselves.

  5. Letter to Toronto Star
Hey, I’ve been experiencing a little ‘revenue shortfall’ of late, and I have this video of Turdo le Doo getting spanked by a dominatrix that I’m gonna shop around.
So if you guys wnt to meet me in in the cemetery at midnight with $200,000….

  6. Easy, the Ford family offered $300K for the video and destroyed it.
Let me guess, you have a video to prove that?
Please, please keep blathering on about your anti-rationality positions. It serves a good case study for younger generations.

  7. Rob Ford said he never smoked crack, the leftist scammers didn’t/don’t believe him. Rob Ford said there was no video, the leftist scammers didn’t/don’t believe him. The Tor Star is now being used as their excuse for “destroying” the fake video that didn’t exist which should give the Tor Star a bad case of intestinal dumping to be accused of saving Rob Ford.
Bring on the Keystone Cops……Inspector Clouseau would have no time for this riff raff.

  8. Oh my my – on National Newswatch nary an item on Ford, ‘cept for the ‘Gone’ story. Usually they have about 75 – almost like it never happened….

  9. Well that concocted scandal ran its news cycle, now on to the next Ford-hate smear by the big smoke potty media – Ford found in Chinese rub and Tug – uh no, that one got no print last time, how about; “Rob Ford drinks baby blood at Toty vampire shindig” – yeah thats the rub, the GTA zombie voters will buy it whether its abject rubbish or not. “onward hate media to the final goal of a planet free of people we don’t like!

  10. Quebecois NDP separatiste lays around the apartment all day pulling his wire, it’s easy when your province extorts $8 billion a year…see how that works..?..

  11. Well Hans, the reason Ford does not sue them is because he is several light years more civil and moral than the ass clowns at the Star and Globe. Besides, just letting them sweat waiting for a business-ending law suit is more fun than actually doing it – of course venal media elitists and muck raking commies (like those staffing the Star and Globe) probably think Ford is a dummy for not suing them (I mean they would if roles were reversed because they are reflexively degenerate) – degenerate lefties always mistake civility/honor/ethics for stupidity. In that case they will ignore their slim escape from financial ruin in a massive law suit by Ford and continue slandering him – in which case he will put them out of business with a couple of law suits for the various slanders they have perpetrated.
If they were smart they will leave Ford alone after this, but nobody ever accused lefty toilet journos of being intelligent – pop a brewski and get some popcorn because the GTA presstitutes are on borrowed time in what could be an us-or-him fight to the death.

  12. I never believed the video existed, contrary to my liberal betters who assert three independent witnesses viewed it-I don’t consider someone with a pony in the race independent. I hope Ford sues them, they tried to drive him out of office via a shakedown and it sickens me to the core.

  13. I love it that there’s no video and these idiot trolls still can’t let go.
This is why we still have socialism in this country. The likes of RetardoFrenchDip get ahold of an idea and just won’t let it go, no matter how hard it crashes and burns, no matter how many times.
“This time it’ll be different!” is the rallying cry of the Left.

  14. If the video turned out to be an obvious fraud, these Somali upstanding citizens could be sued for fraud or defamation. There is even the possibility of criminal charges of fraud or defamation being brought.
I wonder if that realization had anything to do with the video being “gone”.

  15. The job just got tougher for the poor shmuck at the bottom of the Loblaws escalator at Jarvis and Lakeshore trying to GIVE away free Toronto Stars.
    Laugh I thought we’d die.

  16. Bingo! That is ‘it’ in a nutshell dwight. This was a a fairy tale invented by a group of intolerant fools who ‘beeelieve’ in the power of innuendo (it has always ‘worked’ before!) to torture and destroy people who refuse to cow tow to them.
Thanks to Sun News, Mayor Ford and honest web sites like SDA, the ‘professional’ gossips/slanders got caught with their pants down. In attempting to reassert their presumed ‘authority’ over who will be successful and respected and who won’t; they bloodied their brows on a innocent man who happened to have a far bigger IQ than the attackers themselves. This was a frontal attack on innocence and Mayor Ford played his attacking fiends like cheap violins. In exposing the fiends, as he has, by remaining steadfast, unruffled and unapologetic he has done Canadians an intrinsic good that will reverberate like a tidal wave to the unseen, hidden bowels of the cesspool dwelling of the filthy who attempt to befoul innocent people. Mayor Ford,Sun News, and the SDA ilk of the web called the maggot’s bluff. Salt was dumped on the maggots, they curled up and retreated. The maggots have lost the power to terrorize and their credibility in one fell swoop. Mr. Ford is not a coward; the human haters underestimated Mr. Ford. Human haters lost more than one round; they lost the ‘farm’.

  17. Lev, you mean that little byline picture of John Cook on the left?
After considerable analysis, I conclude that Mr. Cook is a pencil-necked little lefty d1ckweed. He can’t even hold still for a photo, likely due to intense adult-ADD, an attention span measured in seconds and zero self control. He also doesn’t look very bright.
    How’s that? 🙂

  18. Jema54, I believe you have it right. Except for the spelling. To “kowtow”: “is the act of deep respect shown by prostration, that is, kneeling and bowing so low as to have one’s head touching the ground.”
Just as in historic China, the Toronto mandarins expect the proper obedience from public officials. This is one of the major things that make Toronto the f-ed up doodoo pile that it is these days.
May they all contract terminal herpes.

  19. From Marc in Calgary’s link:
In a December 2009 case, the Supreme Court of Canada established this new defence to a libel claim. The court said that journalists should be able to report statements and allegations – even if they are not true – if there’s a public interest in distributing the information to a wide audience. This defense, which looks at the whole context of a situation, can apply if:
the news was urgent, serious, and of public importance, and
the journalist used reliable sources, and tried to get and report the other side of the story.
The court defined “journalist” widely to include bloggers and anyone else “publishing material of public interest in any medium.”

Which raises the questions: 1) were the sources reliable? 2) Did the Star try to get and report the “other side” of the story?
I’d say “No” on both counts, but I’m not a lawyer; I just play one on TV.

  20. I recommend you read
    http://www.cba.org/bc/public_media rights/240.aspx
Section 5 reads Dec.2009 Supreme Court of Canada establishes defence of libel claim (5) “the court said that journalists should be able to report statements and allegations – even if not true – if there is a public interest in distribution of the information to a wide audience”
    The Ford lawyers can read!

  21. Yeah I don’t think there’s a law suit here. Chalk it up to another reason why no one sane would run for public office.

  22. QNDPS: Easy, the Ford family offered $300K for the video and destroyed it.
    And, your proof?

  23. There never was a video. There were a few sleazy publicity hounds who would stoop to any depths necessary to defame Ford. And a few thousand mental midgets who were willing to pay a pittance to see a video that they hoped existed. Why Ford would want to be mayor of a place filled with such fools is beyond me but thank goodness people like him exist.

  24. Personally …. even though Ford is not poor …. I’d chip in.
In spite of the faux legal analysis offered by commenters here … there is plenty of reason to do so.
In fact the City of Toronto could argue damages due to fraudulent claims about the mayor.
Even a law that allows for selective libel does not protect from damage claims.

  25. And according to Mark Sutcliffe of the Citizen, Ford should have resigned.
Hey Mark, I have an alleged video of someone who may or may not be you,
viewed on a cellphone in a parking ,ot, showing you smoking crack. I’m going to show it
to your bosses if you don’t resign first…..how does that work for ya’?
    http://www.ottawacitizen.com/business/business+heads+would+roll/8457316/story.html
    — Rob Ford would have resigned. The first job of a leader is to protect the best interests of the organization. And when you become an obstacle to its success, you move out of the way. It doesn’t matter whether or not you deserve your fate, because it’s not about you. No widely held business would allow its chief executive officer to take a stand on principle if the distraction ground the company to a halt in the process. If Ford had been running a large private company, it wouldn’t be a question of whether or not the video existed or whether or not he was in it. He’d have to resign.
