  1. excellent.
I imagine the CBC & Torstar will have this in their most favored news slots. “above the fold”

  2. So is this the source of the video the TorStar is all giddy about? The ad being posted back in January fits a handy timeline.

  3. Hey, $200,000 to slander and libel the Toronto mayor is a bargain…!
Character assassination is so much cheaper than a real ‘hit’.
    You’re killing me here…
    Cheers
    Hans Rupprecht, Commander in Chief
    1st Saint Nicolaas Army
    Army Group “True North”

  4. I suspect the film is a fake and unfortunately this will besmirch all bloggers. Thanks Gawker. As for the star and the other libtard media falling for this well no honor among thieves suckas.

  5. >> I see BCF had this up yesterday.
Actually it looks like BCF posted it today, not yesterday. But anyway, I was having my doubts about this whole affair, back & forth a little bit. That want ad is pretty much a slam dunk for me.

  6. This is way too funny, Gawker and co are the pigeon here, the sellers are not even pretending to be legit.
The Nigerian Prince/Senior bureaucrat scam will work on most of the loons donating to “expose” Rob Ford.
I can sympathize with Ford and his inability to respond coherently, this is so vile and stupid.
What would be an appropriate response?
    Full auto-fire?

  7. You can find a Rob look a like, but it will be easier to find Jimmy Hoffa than those Somali’s.

  8. Rob Ford’s half hearted denial response is similar to Obama’s birther response. Their less-than-strong response ensures the controversy continues, which ends up exposing their opponents as extreme. Ford knows how to follow a playbook. When the stories slow to a trickle, watch for Ford to say somthing so it flares up again.
As an added bonus, the Torstar may pay $200K for a fake video.

  9. The reality at this point is simply this. We have the word of a couple of Star “reporters” who have a vendetta against Ford and the word of a clown from the U.S. who has been sued so many times, it isn’t funny. THAT’S ALL.
And the “reporters” are protected enough because they can say they saw the video. This whole thing stinks to high heaven. Just another bit of theatre by the radical left.
Anybody stupid enough to pony up dough to buy the video is stupid enough to lose it.

  10. I notice many media pundits and bloggers — even conservative ones — have said that Ford should go.
Ouster someone based on nothing? What do they use for brains?

  11. Meanwhile, I see even the Toronto Sun has turned on Ford, telling him to “answer the allegations” or step aside. That mostly announces to the world all I ever suspected about Quebecor Media, who are as mainstream a media company as any (for the love of God, they’re half owned by the Quebec government!) Sorry, no. Rob Ford is not making Toronto ungovernable. City Council is, demanding he kowtow to them and confess the crimes for which they’ve already convinced he’s guilty, and step aside so they might appoint Olivia CHow, vicar of Jack Layton on earth, Queen of Toronto.
There is nothing Ford can safely say that he hasn’t said already—namely, that the charges are ridiculous and not worth a moment’s consideration. If he has the sense he was born with he’s already figured out that this latest crisis was manufactured by the Libranos, possibly with a little help from their friends at Torstar and in the Toronto and Montreal mob, to finish Ford’s career in politics before he made it to Queen’s Park or Ottawa. The crack about Justin was a dead giveaway. The video, if it exists at all (and I won’t believe that till someone produces it) is obviously a fake. If it were real they’d have sold their own daughters as slaves to the Somalis if that’s what it took to buy it, instead of begging for money from gullible readers of Gawker.
Thing is, Rob Ford can’t make even begin to tell the world what’s really going on here for fear Torstar will be the ones screaming libel and censorship.
Now the MSM want us to believe that Ford has fired his chief of staff, who never wanted the job in the first place and spent much of it telling Ford how to do his, because somehow Ford blames the chief of staff for the fact that he, Ford, was fired as a coach.
More likely, chief of staff told the mayor to dignify the accusations against him with a response that isn’t utter contempt, because, after all, if nothing else will satisfy the mob, why not?
Why indeed? Because Ford knows very well that nothing will satisfy the mob but to see Ford driven from office. Everyone knows that, including the chief of staff. The mayor did the right thing and ordered security to fling the little traitor of a chief of staff out on his arse, instructing him, no doubt, that if he had the sense God gave him he would never show his face there again while Ford was mayor.
Nice thing about situations like this, you find out really fast who’s on your side, and, in this case, on the side of the people of Toronto against the likes of Olivia Chow and Justin Trudeau. God bless and keep Doug Ford. We should all have a brother like him.
You wanted Rob out too, mister chief of staff? After you, you scumbag.

  12. We might as well have a fake Rob Ford created by the Red Star and the like.
We’ve had a fake media for years and years.

  13. Hummm…now would this be as egregious if it was revealed that Justin…or Barry had….or Jack had indulged….

  14. hmmm interesting developments

Two important developments happened Thursday night in Gawker’s Rob Ford “Crackstarter” campaign: someone donated $10,000, and editor John Cook admitted he hasn’t been able to get in touch with the owner of the alleged Ford crack video since Sunday.

Yeah I’m as surprised as you are.

  15. Well yes…Ford had them disappeared, dontcha know?? (That is the obvious explanation from the Ford haters)

  16. I’ve asked the kind folks at wk.com to post the link also, so his thoughtful readers could spend a few moments considering what this might mean…

  17. The Toronto Star is clearly the little boy who cried “wolf”. They have zero credibility left. Zero.

  18. I’m hoping and praying Rob Ford initiates a lawsuit against the Red Star. They will then be forced to produce a video, shelling out 200 large for it, or shell out for a settlement. Either way its a lose-lose situation for them.

  19. The Toronto Star won’t buy the video – they probably produced it. Their best case scenario (least risk) is no one buys it and they can smear the mayor with no risk. And in the “worst” case someone else buys the video and proves that it is a fake. They cover their costs and can still plead innocence – they just reported on what “appeared to be Rob Ford”.

  20. Sue their a**es off, Mayor Ford. Now to figure out WHO actually did this.
I had a feeling this type of stuff was being done…

  21. A seemingly manufactured video drives a Hollywood-911 call to all the biggies – Gawker, Fallon, Stewart, Maher, Leno – “Please help us, we’ve tried all the trix in the book and we still just can’t get this guy!” – I wonder who among the local progressive super-elite played a role in this little fandango…

  22. Heard an interview on CKNW’s, Simi Sara Show this afternoon with Steven Sal Debus, a Rob Ford hater, willing to do his part in bringing the truth out…
He tweeted that he was willing to drop $50K to get the film shown in Toronto, and he would charge a nominal fee for the people of Toronto to come and see it. Here was his Tweet.
steven sal debus ‏@saldebus 19 May
Gawker campaign is at 64k. He needs my 50K to help..like I said “I’ll host a Toronto party for the unveiling. #robford
Just for clarification, he used to live in Vancouver and thinks Gregor Robertson is a fabulous mayor. Toronto needs more of these type to raise the profile even higher for the Hogtown!!!

  23. The funny thing is the video is from a cell phone camera and grainy??? Was this guy using a Motorola Star Tac. He is a drug dealer he would have a Iphone 5 or S3 to be state of the art. Grainy video and this ad = fake.

  24. Jesus H. Key-riced!!!!! Does anyone at the Star not understand what happens when you mess with crack cocaine? Rob Ford would have a life span of about a week if he was lucky. The Star HATES him like they hate the PM. This series of articles should be a libel lawyer’s dream case.

  25. I’d be shocked if the Toronto Star or Gawker were outright lying about this video. I’m not suggesting that the Star has been fair in their coverage of Ford but I would hope they would have the decency to present the full and honest truth about what was recorded. I’ve found the Star to be focused on attacking Ford, but I’ve never seen a situation where the reporting isn’t accurate in the most literal sense of the word accurate. Right now, I’m assuming it’s more likely than not that the Mayor of Toronto smoked crack. Let’s see how it shakes out.

  26. Remember these media pundits (even the conservative ones) are from downtown Toronto and they ain’t havin’ no non-Armani wearin’ hick from Etobicoke tellin’ the big city folk what to do.

  27. Its a fake… If Ford was inclined to do any drug he would have someone unknown and unrecognizable make the pick up and it would be handed off a few times before it ever came into the possession of the mayor for deniability. He certainly wouldn’t be partaking with the actual dealers…

  28. Working overtime to craft a theory that still makes Rob Ford a great mayor brought down by a leftist pinko media, eh?
Ford is his own enemy and the origin of dozens of terrible decisions and policies. He’s not conservative, he’s a populist idiot.
I’m stunned that people like you are still defending someone who made the city an international laughingstock long before the crack tape, fake or not.

  29. Two things scraper.
    1) Ford is winning. He’s hurting pinko hearts so bad that I jump for joy at each new extravaganza of ridiculous coming from the wing-nuts. It’s just more of the same commie crap, “We know better than you, so if you don’t play our ball we’ll destroy you.” Phaw, you’re losing.
    2) Lastman. Toronto politics was worth a laugh long before Mayor Ford.

  30. I advised the mayor already of all the multitudes of ways this fraudulent flick could have been created by frothing haters with no shame, and a look alike is one of the many ways. It would be easy to find a look alike for the mayor as fat people loose most of their distinguishing features and appear more similar than any other group of people overall.
There are also a numerous amount of video editing and compositing and audio editing tricks that can be done which I will not ever explain unless brought as a witness into court to defend the major against the criminal slanderers who created this fraudulent flick who are most likely Americans anyways who will be out of the reach of canadian law.

  31. “Tin-foil hat” conjecture here but, and hear me out, but what if a small group of lefty Toronto-core types -artists, actors, producers – looked far and wide for a Ford look-alike?
Someone like-minded who, with some make-up and digital manipulation from some skilled artist “starred” in this little production?
The left has tried repeatedly to thwart the will of the people and been defeated in every attemp and perhaps they’ e become desperate. Willing to do ANYTHING short of killing the man go get him out of office. Even risking a fake video to do it.
    Again…”tin-foil hat” stuff but….
    caa

  32. I think Mayor Ford is doing the right thing by not responding. The lame-stream-mediots are practitioners of ‘gotcha’ journalism; they want him to respond so they twist his words. By ignoring them he is refusing to play their game, where they write the rules and move the goalposts to suit their progressive agenda.

  33. Really? A look-alike? You think people are dumb enough to be sold the idea it was a look-alike who was smoking crack in the video? Good luck with that.

  34. You say “dozens of terrible decisions and policies” as if previous administrations hadn’t been as bad or worse. Toronto was an international laughingstock long before anyone had heard of Rob Ford.
Whether Ford is a real conservative or a populist, idiot or otherwise, this is a case of leftist media conspiring to bring down the elected mayor because the sheeple of Toronto didn’t do as they were told and The Star just can’t accept that. They were embarassed by their predictions of the mayoral election outcome and this mayor won’t dance for their headlines. Fanatics – they can’t change their minds and they won’t change the subject.

  35. Conservative’s who opine, “He makes us look bad” are cowards. Ford doesn’t make us look bad our groveling along side of liberal media make us look bad. I consider this nothing more than a media witch-hunt and now even the so called-spit-conservative NP has jumped on the bandwagon. We should be telling the liberal media die you SOBs, I for one am boycotting all of them for as long as it takes to send those trash urnalists the message.

  36. Sir, the very purpose of the mainstream media is to print what our masters want the gullible to believe is the truth, be it advertisements selling garbage nobody needs or ought to want, or propaganda glorifying the masters. The only thing in most papers that isn’t a pack of lies from top to bottom is last night’s sports results.
Lying to the plain people of the civilized world is what these blackguards do.
Anybody interested in the truth has to post it on the Internet on his own or whatever patriotic blog will give him a forum, because no “respectable” paper will print it.
This is why Postmedia print columns written by Andrew Coyne and not by Kathy Shaidle.
If the Star or anybody else has a video of Rob Ford or anybody else smoking crack, all they have to do to convince sensible people of their accusations is to produce the video. Till then, there is absolutely no evidence that this is anything but a smear job and that Gawker are anything but dupes of the Libranos at best and liars and thieves at worst.
“Can’t get a hold of his source” my auntie. Did his dog eat his homework when he was at school? You’re the one going on about this blessed video, Mr. Editor. In your place, were I a liberal journalist determined to destroy Ford and I were offered what you say you were offered, I’d have sold my soul or whatever passes for it to get the money and grabbed the phone with both hands. Where is it?
That should be the rallying cry of all loyal Canadians forced to endure the slanders of traitors against a mayor who takes the side of the people of Toronto. “Where’s the video?”

  37. That’s the nice thing about the Toronto Sun turning on Ford—it means we need never take Sun Media seriously again either.
The lads at Quebecor head office are probably relieved that they’re excused from covering the spectacle of Montreal and Laval politicians being dragged off in handcuffs because there’s actually prima facie cases against them for actual crimes. Tremblay and his cronies made a good living picking the pockets of Montreal’s Protestants and Jews, but at least he never smoked crack.

  38. A couple of days after the Ford video story broke, I came across a Youtube taken at a resort in Cuba and uploaded back in January 2011. In the video a man appears, and the people at the bar are all commenting on how much he looks like the Toronto mayor. I haven’t seen comments mentioning this here, if it has already been linked, my apologies in advance. The man does look a lot like the mayor.

  39. Question for the lefties and other Ford haters out there: If Rob Ford was doing crack… would he be fat?
    Such a bunch of geniuses.

  40. So the criminals with the alleged video can’t be found now? I am shocked, shocked I tell you!
So if Gawker and/or the Red Star can’t produce the video can the Mayor sue for libel? Anybody who publishes a story based on allegedly viewing a low-resolution video presented by (self admitted) Somali drug dealers has strayed far beyond the bounds of responsible journalism and should be held responsible.

  41. Dick, we need to start a massive boycott of the liberal media, we’re all Rob Fords. If the media can drag him into the mud and destroy him using the power of the media to collude and lie then the peasants don’t stand a chance.

  42. Act Two, Scene Three from Canada’s Capital of Kabuki Theater…
It seems Toronto City Councillor Paul Ainslie was given a 72 hour driving suspension for blowing near .08. This would be the same fellow who accused Rob ford of being drunk at a recent Military ball, but it gets better. Ainslie repeatedly denied the suspension when confronted by Toronto Sun reporters earlier this week. Paul only came clean after being repeatedly taunted on twitter by the Toronto Sun’s Sue Ann Levy.
    http://www.torontosun.com/2013/05/23/rhymes-with-pants-on-fire
Sensing this might be an opportunity for a little juxtaposition, I searched the Toronto Star and CBC websites for any mention of Councillor Ainslie’s recent troubles.
The Star has no mention of Ainslie’s suspension. Juxtaposition by omission, in my estimation. The CBC does have a story, buried in the bowels of their site, which paints a rather heroic picture of Cllr. Ainslie. An example for Mayor Ford even. Of course no mention of hie prior denials. Juxtaposition by editorial commission.
    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2013/05/23/toronto-ainslie-dui.html

  43. I have a comment caught in the spam filter that ads another element to this story. If someone could spring it that would be great. Thanks.

  44. Yah I am just so shocked too.
This slander does serve a good, the Press is once again exposes as the malicious desperate slime they are.
Tabloid journalism does not begin to describe their failure.
As the story line goes 2 star reporters, is that 2** out of 100?,1000? or what? are shown a crappy grainy cell phone video, which they can not verify unless they put up $200 000, to self described Somali Drug Dealers.
So rather than blow the scam artist off, or investigate further, they rush to print.
On the bright side, once the lawsuits settle, Rob Ford can work as mayor for a nominal fee of $1/year.
The Star defence will be that the fake somali’s were Ford campaign agents.

  45. One more time…..what evidence really exists to prove that Ford smoked crack? The answer is absolutely ZERO. We only have the word of a couple of hack Star “reporters” and a guy in the U.S. who has been sued so many times, you can’t keep track. THAT’S IT. There is nothing else. And if the owners of this reported video simply “disappear”, nothing can be proven….whether it be the allegations against Ford or that the Star “reporters” and a shyster from the U.S. made the whole story up. But who suffers? As it is now, Ford is in the same situation as asking a guy if he has stopped beating his wife.
As for videos, we have seen just how far the left will go certainly in the U.S. where a video was blamed for Benghazi.

  46. “We’re all Rob Fords.”
    Yes. Yes you are.
This thread demonstrates that you people are completely incapable of examining the evidence in front of you. That you refuse to accept the possibly that you are wrong. And that you are basically incompetent.
You would hurt the citizens of Toronto, this country, and Rob Ford himself, solely to go on believing your twisted little world view that the left is merely out to get poor Rob Ford, rather than look at this guy’s record and behaviour and see what he is. A stupid, ignorant, divisive, incompetent, sad man.
I can imagine you all standing on the Titanic, insisting that it’s not sinking, even while you are all sliding off the deck into the icy water below.
