  1. Why are women far more likely than men to have eating disorders? Well, obviously, it’s because of patriarchal oppres…..wait, hold on a second:

Klump and colleagues ran a feeding experiment with 30 female and 30 male rats over a two-week period, replacing the rodents’ food pellets periodically with vanilla frosting. They found that the rate of binge eating “proneness” (i.e., the tendency to consume the highest amount of frosting across all feeding tests) was up to six times higher in female as compared to male rats.

  2. That story makes me want to erupt in a swearing rant that would consume my allowable limit in this comment field.
I’d buy a ticket in a second to fly to a real rights protest in front of this business. Since when in a free country can you not choose your customers.
It’s this nonsense that epitomizes the Decline & Fall of the Western Empire. Horseshit, Mappin needs a good pounding in a back alley.

  3. According to the FBI, as reported -twice- on CNN, Big Brother records every single phone call made in the USA. And probably Canada too, would be my guess.

Just thought y’all would like to know that every single frickin’ word you’ve said on the blower these last ten years or so is sitting on a hard drive in Virginia. Searchable too. Hope you’ve been good.
Oh, and your Apple/Android/Blackberry/YouNameIt phone tracks everyplace you go, minute by minute.

  4. I’m with you RCGZ. We live in terrifying times when an innocent store owner can be shaken down like this.

  5. Gordon Wilson, former Liberal leader, former NDP cabinet minister, and former leader of the now-defunct Progressive Democratic Alliance, told Global B.C. that he has worked alongside both Clark and Dix, and has now volunteered his services to campaign for Clark’s Liberals.
“It’s been 20 years since I have called myself a Liberal, but it is time to come home,” Wilson wrote on his blog. “It is time for all progressive thinkers to join forces and elect a party to continue to present the very best option for British Columbia.”
Liberals equals progressives, thank you Gordon Wilson for making it clear!

  6. There are rats, of course. And then there’s the fact that women are crazy.
Lots of individual women are great. Yadda yadda. If you happen to be a woman, do not go on vacation with women. Do not join a nunnery. (They say they start menstruating in tandem, and I believe it. But why would you want to?) Women are often batsh*t crazy and they’re much worse in groups. I think of it as estrogen poisoning. For some reason they’re obsessed with food. Food and drama. Drama and food. I would actually clock the incidence of eating disorders in women far higher than the official numbers. It’s like shoplifting in adolescence or old age – a normal girl phase. (No, I never shoplifted. But I understand the mechanism.)

  7. That’s nothing.
During the Cold War from 47 to the eighties the CIA opened every single international first class letter sent in and out of the US – according to Legacy of Ashes – the most comprehensive history of the CIA to date.

  8. I agree that some eating disorders are hard to figure out. My niece managed a Robin`s Donut shop for many years. One of her employees was bulimic. Her weight loss made her unattractive, especially to greet customers.
One day my son and I walked into the Donut shop. My niece came up to me and asked, “Uncle, what would you do in my place?” My son was only 6 then. He looked at his cousin and said, “I’d keep her. At least you’re sure of one thing. She isn’t stealing donuts.”
She kept her, the girl took counselling and eventually managed her own store.

  9. Thank-you for the Johnny Cash song EBD – I played some other tunes by the man in black while I was at your link.

  10. Phantom – 12 years ago, after watching the paranoid feeding frenzy of the MSM, security and police agencies post 9/11, I predicted that the so called “war on terror” would ultimately be used by government to grow exponentially, remove legal rights, privacy and civil liberties and oppress political opposition, I was called a “conspiracy nut” or an “America hater”. It mattered little to the finger-pointing name callers that I had the historic record of multitudes of governments/cultures/societies regressing to tyrannies under the “need” for national security.
Well here we are a decade later and under the guise of fighting a nebulous enemy in the “war on terror” our overreaching governments and security/police forces have erected a zero-tolerance surveillance police state gulag where we are literally prisoners in our own nation with everyone suspect. This is the continuity of governance agenda gone batshit paranoid mad and it’s making us into the repressive authoritarian culture the terrorists are allegedly trying spread globally. Our government has accomplished destroying the free society the terrorists were supposed to hate us for – As Stalin was quoted as saying once about his hegemonic drive to consume the satellite nations surrounding the USSR – “I don’t need to invade them to subdue them, keeping an occupying army to guard them against escape is costly. All I have to do is frighten them enough with the threat of invasion and they will build their own prison for me.”

  11. That isn’t the half of it. Wiretap software has backdoors for ‘maintenance’ by the foreign company who owns it.

  12. Further, everyone has skeletons in their closet, especially political figures. Not much wonder politicians seem to ‘change’ when in power. Information is power…

  13. The fact that I just read your link shows I saw it on SDA. It was all over the news last week including SUN and I think it had enough coverage that there was simply nothing left to discuss. Show me any government that isn’t a incompetent money sucking black hole and we’ll have a newsworthy subject. That said, Harper is still far better than what we’re used to.

  14. Occam said: “12 years ago, after watching the paranoid feeding frenzy of the MSM, security and police agencies post 9/11…”
I’ll tell you Occam, I’m pretty sure they’ve been doing this a lot longer than that. Trunk lines have been digital since the 1970’s, digital storage has been relatively cheap since the late 1980’s and dirt cheap since the late 1990’s. FBI implemented Carnivore in 1997. The NSA has been hard at it longer. A brief Google will turn up some stuff that’ll make your brain hurt.
I would argue that the government of the United States has been on this path since Franklin Delano Roosevelt. That was when the welfare of the nation was first disregarded in favor of the DemocRat Party’s welfare as a full-on national policy, and it hasn’t let up since.
The joke on all of us is that this ubiquitous surveillance/mass recording BS doesn’t even work. If the Boston bombing proves nothing else, it proves that. What mass recording is -awesome- for though is rooting out disloyal “friends” in your own party. You just identify the people you think aren’t really loving your latest project, and then have somebody go through all their mail.

  15. Neo-AGW PR.
“the sea is so cold following the coolest April for 24 years and the coldest March for 100 years.”
    It’s our Billion$ “Mystery fog”.
    Get used to it.
    …-
“Mystery fog ruins Bank Holiday break for thousands of beachgoers as it engulfs south coast”
“Britain’s coast was shrouded in mist for the Bank Holiday weekend due to warm air clashing with an unusually cool sea because of the cold spring.”
