CBC news producer Donna Allen fought doggedly to keep the story under wraps. Allen is named in the October 2010 Human Rights complaint by Stephen Pate for discrimination on the basis of disability and association with a disability advocacy group, PEI Disability Alert.
Also named are Wayne Thibodeau, Teresa Wright and the Press Gallery of the Prince Edward Island Legislature (Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island SIGS 25540). According to sources, Allen never wanted the story to see the light of day.

Thanks for that link to Honest Reporting Canada. Great resource to access when I get the smirky response to “CBC cannot be trusted”.
Driving home last eve, caught wee bit of the stomach-turning Carol Off on As It Happens..they were apologizing for prev.eve’s screw-up,claiming Moose Jaw was in ALBERTA! Ahhhh, cbc, never wrong!!
Is there another source for the CBC PEI story – this one is written so badly I can’t follow it…
The CBC feel the same way about lies as the French do about fraud and corruption.
lemon: agreed. I had to re-read the story umpteen times and read the links in order to glean (I think) who is doing what and with which and to whom. What ever happened to a simple time line?
The story makes absolutely no sense. What is Pate’s “disability”? Is the PEI press gallery being sued or the CBC? What’s the nature of the complaints? The whole piece is snide, but it’s so scrambled and jumbled that whatever story might be in there is completely hidden.
Someone daring to trespass onto the Media Party’s turf
and then winding up with a bunch of knives in their back
when the dust settles would be a likely explanation.
Ho hum – another day, another CBC disinfo gaffe. Say, aren’t they still sitting on the biggest story of the decade – that AGW and the hockey stick alarm cult is a farce?
Or that the Liberal gun control program was a fraud, policy failure and targeted the wrong people. How about that one? That story is twenty years old but I have not heard an apology from CBC to all ranchers and duck hunters for maliciously scapegoating them – and while we’re talking about CBC sitting on info, how about the fact the whole liberal-left anti-gun premise is a fraud. The fact that Marc Lapine was, in fact “Gamil Gharbi” (son of a misogynist Algerian Islamist father) who was taught to treat women like cattle. Also, his firearm was purchased quite legally because his firearm licence was given to him by Montreal police after their background check missed the small fact he had a long history of mental illness. Same for the Concordia murders and Valerie Fabricant, mass murders were the result of existing law being shoddily enforced (something the Liberal gun law did not change). Of course these easily confirmed facts put a whole different perspective on the anti-gun narrative but CBC still pretends they/Liberals/gun hater zealots did the right thing in directing public hatred and police repression at honest hunters and target shooters.
PULL-THE-PLUG!!
The annual operating cost to taxpayers is 1.3B, that Is more than enough to keep our military in new equipment for ever. I wonder how much in addition to the obscene 1.3B in tax dollars for their annual operating budget is it going to cost us for diamond plated pensions for years and years to come. Do the right thing PM Harper sell them off we can’t afford them…
“Forty years ago two reporters – Woodward and Bernstein – fought their bosses, other reporters, the FBI, the CIA, the President’s office and the US Republican Party to expose the official and un-official cover-up of a “third-rate burglary””
Where are these heroes now? There are some seriously sensational stories they could expose and I’m sure there are a number of Deep Throats this time to help.
“I might be an activist but that does not preclude me from being a journalist.”
I know this wasn’t meant to be funny, but given the activist role of most of the MSM, I just had to laugh out loud at that statement.
yeah, same here. wow, that was just brutal.
After reading the entire article I still had absolutly no idea what was going on!
john
as per usual you missed the boat, IF the CBC (Canadian bitch committee) had been doing their job all along there would be no story. Occationally they accidently do the rite thing, if they were honest they would abandon the muther corp and find honest employ, and report to the people they are being ripped off for 1.3 billion/annum
as to the writing of the story, I thought my dyslexia had gone into over drive, but maybe it’s contagious and the rest in here caught it:-)))
The CBC was created to be an arm of Canadian elitist supporters of far left gument cults. It has never failed in it’s mandate.
Lemon …. I agree …. it is impossible to make sense of that article.
Remember that by the time they shut down the CBC all the staff will be on gold plated pensions sitting on a beach somewhere.
This is a major concern for me; taxpayers need to demand a ‘Tax victims Bill of Rights’ and the right to refuse to pay for the pensions of those who have wronged us.
Your victim status is only negotiable if you fall inside the “protected chattering classes” that will toe the leftist line.
John whinged: “And the CBC journalists, those guys you hate so much, are up for taking on the story and fighting for what’s right.”“.
And there’s the dig. The CBC’s job is not to decide what’s right, never mind fight for it. That’s activism not journalism. Think of it as the “root cause” behind the intense antipathy for mothercorp among conservatives.
They’ll have some fun “fighting for what’s right” in this criminal libel case 😉
Yes, the report is a few W’s short of 5!
john said: “What’s interesting though, is that CBC management appears to be behaving like any corporate management anywhere.”
Yeah john, but they’re NOT acting like corporate management. They’re acting like what they are: untouchable government employees who have no stockholders to call them to account.
No corporation in Canada could do something like this. Shut out a guy in a wheelchair and then cover it up? Never happen. Lawsuits would be ruinous.
See john, you like to imagine how bad and eeeevile all these Corporations are, but the -real- evil gets done by government. Every time.
It really bothers me that we are somehow obliged to pay pensions to people who spent their entire “working” life sucking from the public teat, biting the hand that feeds and seeking to hobble those of us who produce wealth and hence pay taxes.
Given we have to foot the bill, we have a right to cancel their continued theft.
Think of it as a matter of fairness.
We pay taxes for 40 plus years to collect a pitiful public pension upon retirement.
So public leeches should receive exactly what they contributed, thats zero upon retirement.
Amen to that john robertson.
Media reporting is not rocket science and there are age old guidelines…Who, What, When, Where, Why and How and these should be kept in mind when blogging and possibly, although allowances must be made for passion, when commenting.
