  1. C’mon …
It’s not as if there’s a lot of exciting news coming out of Misquamicut every day.
A big fish like that is bound to cause a bit of a flurry in a small community.
And giving the local marine biologists a break in their routine is probably fun for them.
Of course, when they open that sucker up, and find bales of dope, or Haitian refugees, they’ll really make the big time media.

  2. Yeah fish ain’t immortal….and frequently the remains wash up on shore…..even the inevitable big fish….

  3. Did SWAT show up?
That would be the standard response, particularly if the shark was “suspicious” looking – I mean SWAT will show up at a crispy cream grand opening if the ribbon cutter seems to handle the scissors in a suspicious manner to some anonymous caller.

  4. Mother Gaia dumping her trash on our beach, shame
and shame on Dr. Suzuki for not stopping it or at least appearing with his female attendants . looks like bikini weather

  5. Am I missing something, Kate? There’s no mention of the coroner at all in the story, and while it was reported to police, there is likewise no report in the story that they attended the scene.
There is a reference to “Biologists with the Northeast Fisheries Science Center”. It’s hardly surprising that marine biologists may want to examine the carcass.

  6. Crazy indeed. If it was in Canada, I’d expect there to be a commission so we could first determine whether or not this actually was a shark, or even any type of fish.
How do we know this wasn’t a twin-spirited octopus, for instance? It could’ve spent its whole life being bullied and then, with the one element of its life it could still control, decided to end it all by taking that last enormous leap onto dry land.
And now, even in death it’s victimized again by our bigoted views. I’m suing someone for, ummmm, something because if it saves just one fish…

  7. You will be surprised at how many people called the feds when dead whales washes ashore. We said “We don’t do whale”. In the same light, we recently had someone call us because a sailboat moored to a buoy was in front of their house, and their wife was getting seasick watching it and wanted to know if something can be done. Our officer suggested closing the blinds….

  8. “Police, coroner called to scene of dead fish.” As opposed to police, coroner not being called to the mass slaughter house of Dr. Gosnell in Philadelphia.
The moral: to liberals, a fish has more value than a human baby.

  9. I thought maybe I missed something so I went back and re-read the story. Still no reference to the police or coroner being called to the scene. Did AP edit that out? Anyone have a screen shot with the word “coroner” in it?
